Your Greatest Achievement

This thought occurred to me while reading the " Creative?...I think so..." thread. What is your greatest achievement to date? Did you pass a test you were sure you were going to fail? Bravo, go for a grade higher next time around! Doesn't have to be anything spectacular to be special. Or was it something on a grander scale? Did you save a life, or receive some award? Why are you proud of this, what makes it special to you? I'm curious.

I think mine would be...being alive. Surviving grade school terrors, both in my hometown and a strange city, depression and personal degrading brought on by said terrors, relationship issues, the death of my grandparents (both of which I was very close to), High School in general, and my first month of college with the better part of my sanity. Granted, I don't come from a (for lack of a better term) "bad situation" or a "bad start" in life...but I have had quite a bit of a rocky road and I feel (in my heart) that the better part of people today would not have made it to this point, or at least made it with their humor and mind in tact.

So yes...your greatest achievement. What do you think?

Making it to year nine... at my current school. I've been in so much dirt this year, aswell as last year. Those have been the only years I've been at this school, and I've been covered in more of a shadow in those two years, than I probably ever will be for the rest of my life.

It's a wonder I haven't moved yet. My parents have put in numerous applications for other schools, boarding schools, any school that has a stricter reputation than my current school, and every time they've re-decided their decision. Luck? ....feh.

That's my greatest achievement to date, when I think about it. On the other hand, I have another achievement that could hang up here with this one.... I suppose saving up five grand is a good accomplishment. Very nice.

My greatest achievement....?!?

That I shall die one day.

Probably not, but might as well say it for dramatics.

-Having gone through 48+ hours striaght in High school with 3 exams and an art midterm I HAD to do using color chark and charcoal and 6, 2 1/2 foot portraits
-Building and rebuilding parts of my home.
-Keeping sane and achieve high levels of patience in tough situations.
-saving my mom from being hurt at the cost of my left wrist. (Didn't break it, just hurt like hell for a week)
-Being able to beat my little bro at fighting games.

Eh thats about what I think... I let the rest be judged by others who know me...

I would have to say graduation from grammar school, going to high school, graduating with Honors (1 out of about 30 out of 200+ graduating students), and being accepted/going to college. Typical? Yes. But I am only the second child of my generation (second to my brother, go figure, hehe) to attend college.

One really personal one happened 8 years ago - learning to ride my bike with my brother as my teacher. No matter how hard my dad tried, he could not get me to take the training wheels off. Then, one day, my brother took me in the alley, took off the wheels, and told me to ride. He held onto me for a few steps then let go. I was ecstatic that I was doing it by myself.

I felt kind of bad, though, that he got in trouble for doing that since my parents were not home at the time, and we were pretty young to be in the alley by ourselves (I was 10, he was 12/13). But, I still thank him to this day for helping me learn to ride.

:)

I don't guess I have a "greatest" achievement, but since I'm up to my ears in college and scholarship applications, y'all get part of my personal accomplishment list.

-National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist
-Ranked #1 in a "competive private school atmosphere" (not really) class of....*drumroll*....60 students (wowwww)
-Member of NHS.
-Scored a 35 on my ACT
-various Girl Scout awards and recognitions
-Got an A+ in AP US History. (And passed the AP test.)
-Member of school JETS team. (We did pretty well for being JV, even though that's not what we were listed as.)
-and so on and so forth.

Most of my achievements are heavily academic. I'm not really proud of them, because school is easy for me. It's not something I normally struggle with. /

My sophomore year, two of my drawings were displayed at local art shows, which was really cool for me. (Plus, I got a free sketchbook out of the deal.) I've also won a couple local "Poster Contests." One was for drug awareness; one was for "the true meaning of Christmas" or something like that. I think those were both my sixth grade year.

I guess that my two greatest achievements that come to mind would be:

1) Getting my articles published both on major websites and in multi-national magazines.

2) Being in the top 15% of my state for Corporate Management studies during VCE. That was nice.

There are more achievements, but I guess that these are my "favourites".

I have quite a few but this comes to mind.... In summer 2002 I was in H*ll AKA my aunts house in Florida. We were supposedly living there but we didnt last long. This summer was so boring (and my old Nintendo obsession was so strong) that a took a load of lined paper, a whole ton of Nintendo Power magazines, and a light tracer, and I wrote/traced my own 96 page magazine. BOOJA!!!!! I was 10 then. You probably couldnt read it and I used the simplist drawings BUT STILL!!!! I also had 3 ads, one for Pokemon 4, one for my band, and one for... cant remember.

Another achievement is finding this site.

Eh. Mainly academic but some others....

DUX award for my Primary School (Best academic student)
Also, Maths and English awards there...

Being in Primary Extension And Challenge in Primary School

Being in Academic and Talent Program in High School

Basically heaps of academic stuff....

Also- Green Belt in Martial Arts (not really any specific type of it...)
Made it through a season of Swim-Club

Getting extremely good at hockey....

Overcoming my shyness and asking a girl out

and being known as a walking dictionary in Primary School. I'm not now, as I moved to another school. New rep.

Eh. Pretty basic stuff really. Oh, another one... acquiring my warped humour from my mum ^_^. Not perverted or sick- it's warped.

I tutored elementary school kids one year. I tutored this one first grader, he couldn't even recognized letters or recite his alphabet. By the end of the year, with my help, that little boy was reading on a seconcd grade level.

My schooldistrict [and others I think] do this thing called the Cultural Arts awards. They would give you a theme and you would have to create something around that theme in whatever area of arts you chose.

Over the course of 4 years I think I sent in 3 Visual Arts entries that I painted myself and one written assignment. I got first place in the Visual Arts Primary twice, and a third place slot. For the written assignment, I believe I got 5th place. This was all out of several hundred students who had sent in things, so I was pretty proud- I was just a kid, heh.

My greatest achievements hm? Well...

1.)Beating out sixth, seventh, and eighth graders in an essay contest. (I was in fifth grade)

2.) Reading the essay out lound in front of the whole school. ( I have a severe phobia of public speaking)

3.)Being in student counsil. For a freshman I like to think that making friends with upperclassmen is a great achievement

4.) Beating Final Fantasy 8

Those are all the greatest moments I can think of right now and I do not want to sound conceided so I am going to stop.

The only greatest achievement that I can think of is placing 2nd in the Individual Jr. Youth division of the national Kendo championship... and that was mostly luck cause all the good people cancelled each other out on the other blocks o_O

Achievement, huh? Well everyone tells me I have so much to be proud of, but I can't think of too many things specifically.
-My grades have always been decent: top 25% and I got a decent ACT score.
-um there's always NHS and JETS but I really don't contribute too much to either of those..
-I'm pretty proud of my painting skills.
-I think keeping sane with my crazy schedule and family and keeping my paranoia in check are major achievements too.

Like I said, nothing life-changing. I will do something great in my life though!
