Mimmsicle
I ususally get inspiration to write when there's no pen or paper within reach. also late at night, when I'm supposed to be catching up on sleep, thoughts seem to be calling out for me. but I probably write best during the day, regardless the hour. Motivation is also key for me personally. if I don't have that then it'll just end up fake and strained. - Mimmi
Geist
And I thought I would be one of the only night people. O_o As mentioned before, I'm a night person, so most of my best writing comes at night. It's just so peaceful and there's not much to do but sit back and imagine. Also, for some reason I can write really well in the Winter or if it's raining. (Don't ask me what it is about these to that gets rid of my writer's block.) Although silence is great for writing, I like to put on some slow, gentle music and turn it down real low, (so it stays in the background.) Strings and pianos inspire me the most. One last thing. Usually it doesn't matter what mood I'm in if I'm going to write, but I'll never write when I'm depressed again. It gave me a few good poems and stories, but my family got really concerned about me and asked if I wanted to go see some sort of counselor. Also, I tend to get pretty critical of myself if I let my depression run on for too long. EDIT: I forgot about location! I love sitting on a hill, or in a forest by myself. It's not only beautiful, but it forces me to write the old fashioned way. What about you guys? Does location matter to you?
Ryu_Sakura
i write best outside in a quite meadow, or humming to my slower of my bazzilon inu-yahsa cds. or well, right after i draw and i'm fired up. ^^ but my fav place is deep in the woods where no one can find me with a sleeping bag flashlight, bug begone, and tent. Hayate
(tell me if this is bad)I write best when I listen or read poetry and I i see a really powerful or cool line I'll use it in a poem but most of my work is completely original I've never used a whole song just a line or two oh and I only have time to do this you guessed it at night
maikiratori
I write really well all the time, unless I can't think of anything, which is really rare. I think some of my best writing happens when I have at least a day to write an assignment or when I'm writing poetry or one of my many stories... Like my current Inuyasha fanfic...It's turned out wonderfully so far I can't say how much I love writing it and how much I love having people read it. I'll be working on another one soon... but I will probably end up finishing it.
Arasoi
Poetry-wise, I usually write best when I'm depressed. And since I'm always the most depressed at night, that's the time when my poems are better. Most of my best work is depressing, and my happier poems aren't usually that great. There are some exceptions, but that's generally the way it goes for me. For stories and essays, I usually write best during the day, when I'm not depressed. When I'm sad, I find it harder to concentrate on stories, but easier to write poetry. That seems rather odd, I know, but that's the way it works for me.
ArunueShekamari
I can always write well becase the time that i write best is when im whishing death was a choice...when i think that all i can do is sit there...then ideas come to me...they just come...come to me about life and death and everything i hate...everything i could live without...everything i could use to take my life with...everything i think that is unneeded to me...nothing that is needed...because life is not needed...i dont want to live... heh...i got over dramatic into puting my reply into an acctual poem...oh well...you get the point... KarmaOfChaos
For me, writing has no specfic place or time. An idea for writing can come at any time or place, in any shape or form. Beehtoven says it well: "You ask me where I get my ideas. That I cannot tell you with certainty. They come unsummoned, directly, indirectly - I could seize them with my hands - out in open air, in the woods, while walking, in the silence of the nights, at dawn, excited by moods which are translated by the poet into words, by me into tunes that sound and roar and storm about me till I have set them down in notes." -Ludwig van Beethoven Consequently, my writing seems to come easier and more eloquently when I am listening to Beehtoven. The Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise will never get old. ^-~ -Karma
