Anime Sailor Moon

So I'm about two-thirds of the way through Sailor Moon S... and holy crap, it's amazing. I recently discovered, to my horror, that both S and Super S had gone out of print. I was kicking myself, of course, but I miraculously managed to find the S thinpak set in stock at Barnes & Noble's online store (of all places!). A little while later, I ran across an auction for the Super S thinpak, and it didn't end up going as high as I'd feared. So I lucked out.

Anyway, though, S was worth paying full price for. You can really see Kunihiko Ikuhara's influence in a lot of episodes. The visuals are better, the episode villains are so much more amusing and entertaining, Haruka & Michiru own all of the other characters, and the bad guys are beyond awesome. I particularly like the Professor. There are a lot of nice little touches in terms of how the Death Busters interact; I was tickled the first time a Daimohn showed reluctance to attack Usagi & co., and the novelty still hasn't worn off. The Professor's quirks are deliciously silly, but not silly enough to ruin the lab's atmosphere.

I can't wait to finish this and then polish off Super S. I'd heard a lot about this season, but it's so much better than I'd expected. Even its cheesiness has a kind of extra sophistication to it, haha.

Since my last post, I've started in on the fifth disc. Barring unforeseen developments, I should finish S this weekend.

Chibiusa is downright likeable in this season; I especially enjoy the increasingly mature interaction between her and Usagi. In some of the episodes I watched recently (mainly the ones covering Chibiusa's budding friendship with Hotaru), I felt gratified to see them getting along. At times Usagi's attitude was so soothing and mature that I half-expected Chibiusa to start having little visions of Usagi as [spoiler]Neo Queen Serenity.[/spoiler]

I don't have much of an opinion regarding Hotaru, at least not at the moment. Anyway, it's nice to see Sailor Pluto back, and I'm so glad that [spoiler]Haruka & Michiru haven't kicked the bucket yet.[/spoiler] But is it just me, or is Pluto's special attack [i]really[/i] creepy? :animeswea

[COLOR=Teal]Wow...Sailor Moon...I haven't heard or spoken about it in such a long time. Brings back memories of all the villians, good guys...erm girls, love and lost and pleny of Usagi moments. Anyhow since Dagger is posting about the Super S serires which is the one with the Death Busters [spoiler] This is the one where Hatoru (Sailor Saturn A.K.A Angel of Death) meets Chibi for the first time and becomes friends right?).[/spoiler]. If it's not, I'll still post my views on that season. I loved that season, with the witches 5 or was it more (Really hasn't seen this in a long time). My favorite Death Buster female was ([spoiler]Taleal[/spoiler]...did I spell that right..is this even the right name to the person I'm reffering too). Anyhow she's the girl who has the flower power! She was pretty <.<. But The proffessor was cool you couldn't hate him, because [spoiler] He was controled by the evil queen, ever since the fire happened and they lost their wife/mom. In the end he was okay and happy holding his newborn Hatoru (Reborn thanks to Sailor Moon) and he was sexy looking too <.<. Another thing uponPlutos attacks..they're suppose to be silent...when she says it...but in the tv series she pratically sreams the crap out...and that bothered me. But I love her character and it's sad about her story of the past and how she became the time keeper or was it the gae keeper? [/spoiler] Anyhow Sailor Neptune and uranus got on my nerves, because there attacks are pactiaclly the same, just oppisites and the whole relationship between them is frustrating at times. I suppose I liked them better in the comics (Novel). The way the voice acters/tress made them sound on tv, was the rason I don't like them. Plus their powers just don't call my attention. Plutos on the other hand is cool. Overall my favorite series would be the 2nd. season with Anne and Alan...I just loved the whole chemistry between the major charatcers, plus you get to see a [spoiler] Edymon...however you spell it White Knight side.][/spoiler].

Oh and yes I have seen the series with the [spoiler] Three lights, where they are singers as males and when they transform into female lights.I like it very much.[/spoiler]

I'm so depressed. My friend and I had a weekend marathon and watched all of Sailor Moon Stars (we'd both been following this show since the first season aired on YTV so many years ago). I absolutely loved season 5 (after Sailor Moon Super S I was worried it would be just as infantile). It had the best possible ending after awesome episodes the whole way though. But now I realize that it's DONE. There are no other movies or series to look forward to. It's so sad, at least for me. I'm into a tonne of other anime as well, but since this was my first anime love it's like a door has closed. *sigh*

The only question I had at the end was how the whole NeoTokyo thing gets started. I was hoping there would be a few clues or something that would hint at their future. Did anyone else ever wonder about that? But that was the only thing I could pick at. I absolutely loved the character of Usagi over the years. And I LOVED Seiya! By the end I wasn't sure who I wanted to end up with Usagi (Mamoru or Seiya). The scene on the rooftop in the rain where [spoiler]she starts crying because she missed Mamoru and Seiya asks her if she couldn't accept him instead[/spoiler] made my heart break.

Over all, I think Sailor Moon Stars is the best season of a generally incredible series and I wish I could see more.

2)favorite season? The first will always be a classic. I was in fourth grade when I first started watching it. Watching that season a couple months ago for the first time since it went off air was soooo nastalgic, it was weird.

3) least favorite character? hmm... nobody really, although both Usagi and Chibiusa are way too whiney for my liking.

4) Least favorite season? SuperS was kind of blah.

I took a fairly long break after finishing S, but I've finally started Super S. I was really impressed by the first episode (which was directed by Ikuhara himself); I think it's possibly the best opening episode of any season so far, although it's been so long since I saw the first season that it may be unfair for me to make such a judgment.

Anyway, the circus scenes were fantastic. Even though the villains are already following the same pattern that was laid out in the previous season, the imagery is fresh, so I can't bring myself to care too much. The artwork and animation have continued to improve.

(Does anyone else think that the way Tiger's Eye--Tiger Eye? Oh well--[spoiler]sticks his head into girls' mirrors[/spoiler] is really, [i]really[/i] sexual? One can already see Ikuhara beginning to set off down the path of having swords pulled out of RGU characters' chests.)

Hi. I'm new. ^-^ I'm not really contributing anything to the discussion, but i wanted my first post to be in a sailor moon discussion, because its the only anime i know enough about to really talk about.

Favorite Character: Rini. That kid has gone through a lot and is still close to normal.
Least Favorite Character: Alan and Ann. Saw them once, never wanted to again.
FAvorite Season: The one were Rini first appears.
Least Favorite Season: THe one with Alan and Ann.
Seen the fifth season: No. CN canceled it and the nearest Suncoast closed down. Dang it.
DIC and CN: Did okay except those first few episodes were Serena sounded way high pitched. Grated on my nerves.

1. My favorite character is sailor mercury because I took some personality quizzes and I kept getting her, I like her attacks as well ^_^.

2. My favorite season is super s because I like all of the action in that season and I kinda think that the amazon quartet is awesome. (Even though they are supposed to be evil)

I have become totally confused about Fish Eye's gender. Does this ever get cleared up on screen? Anyway, I love Moon Gorgeous Meditation--Usagi's poses are so cool. :love: Am hoping to finish SuperS this month.

[color=#9933ff][font=lucida calligraphy]If you watch the ep about that fashion designer it's kind of cleared up because the guy told Fish Eye that he didn't care if "he' was a guy or a girl, he was so pretty. Then Fish Eye actually ripped off his shirt in another scene and he's flat.

CWi Zoyed Fishie when they dubbe that season back in '01. I remember that. Also in the Dead Moon Arc Ami has some kind of dream or whatever where she sees her mom with Fish Eye. So yeah, that is definately a gay villain.[/color][/font]

1.) My favorite character is Sailor Uranus. Even though sometimes she can be a total snb, she can be cool at times and plus she's smart. She reminds me if Temari off Naruto.

2.) I love the Queen Bryel and the R season.

3.) Sailor Mercury is the my least favorite charcter because she's too conservative and all she does is read and talk about school. She's toooo boring.:sleep:

5.) This relates to the 4th Question. I love the Dic version because they had the best voice actors and the I love the background music. But when the S season was aired they changed Serena, Amy, Reni, and Mina's voice. Serena's voice was horrible and let me add that the background music was awful too. Dic shoud've done S and Super S seasons, maybe I would've enjoyed watching it.

6.) I've seen some of the 5th Season. I just don't understand why they made the Sailor starlights Men that change into women to become Sailor scouts. I thought that season was the worst.
