My brother is somewhat into anime, though legos are his big obsession. The Japanese stuff is mine. He likes to watch DVDs with me, and talk about anime, but he won't really care if he doesn't see a series all the way through. In fact, he really doesn't care at all, despite the fact that he typically pays for the stuff. He particularly likes One Piece and .hack//SIGN, though he likes to read my Excel Saga manga.

My dad likes Speed Racer.. Because of remembering it being on television when he was but a lad. Strangely enough, for the past few weeks, he's also watched Rurouni Kenshin on Cartoon Network with me. He intentionally mispronounces things to irritate me. I've learned to live with it, though.

My mom... Geh. She'll watch it in the corner of her eye if I'm watching some while she is doing something, but she never comments on it anymore. Back when I watched horrible dub series on Fox and KidsWB she would point plotholes and stupid things out. She's stopped recently, though, considering it is now my brother and I who do the heckling.

My parents will absolutely not pay for anime unless it's for a special occasion. I'm not sure why. My brother gets legos sometimes for no reason (And I take the cash.. Heh heh.), yet it is never I who receives free manga.

So, yeah, I have some other otaku in my household, but very casually so.

My brother is somewhat interested in video games, but that's it. My sister and mom won't watch it except when I am giving them a backrub. My dad teases me about my liking of manga and anime. They are the exact opposite of an otaku, far from it....heh...I am surviving though.

Heh, well my dad is kind of into it. He is an art teacher and mostly just likes it for the art. *shrugs* Go figure. He always watches it with my though, he likes some shows and sometimes he'll read a manga book of mine. ^_^ He buys all of my stuff... since my mom doesn't really approve of anime at it's fullest. My dad's cool, I hope someday I can go live with him... curse this seperation!
My little bro that live half way across the state with my dad also likes it. But the only reason he likes it is because I like it. I'm his big sis it's a I-wanna-do-everything-like-you thing. He had two sisters to pick to be like... and it was me, he didn't pick the better sister. I guess I'm alot more fun. He loves DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Zoids, and he has watched Cowboy Bebop once... that wasn't with me... NO WAY! He is only five, he shouldn't watch that.
Anyway... those are the people in my family that are semi-otaku's. Oh yeah, my step bro's also think anime is cool... but they never watch it.

That sounds like my brother. He likes anime but doesnt crave it. Hes also a lego/bionicle maniac. I hate Bionicle. Anyway its nice to see that my mom isnt alone.

My dad loves to hate anime.... but he really doesn't have much room to talk, seeing how as he's a huge Star Trek geek. So I have fun teasing him about that, and he gets his kicks mocking anime. It's all good.

My mom, on the other hand, does enjoy some anime. However, she tends to prefer more kid-oriented stuff (like Miyazaki movies). I think that seeing serious violence and sexual material in a "cartoon" just makes her uncomfortable.

My little sister is a huge Miyazaki fan..... she's madly in love with Haku (the cool dragon-boy character from Spirited Away). I plan on eventually getting her interested in other anime, which shouldn't be too difficult.

My dog couldn't care less what I'm watching, as long as he has a good seat on the couch.

Both my brothers like anime, but my oldest youngest brother likes anime and manga like me.

When I rented EVA we whatched it, also my step dad whatches the dudded and edited stuff on CN. My real dad whatch Outlaw Star and Gundam(which he must of like,because he had bought the Gundam Dreamcast game ^_^) with us when he still lived here. My borther will sometimes ask me if he can read S Jump, and he reads that, but when he ask to read Chobits...... I think he saw "no" coming ^_^;;;;

My mom just thinks I am carzy........ >.>;;;

LOL! That sounds exactly like my dogs. One always has our large recliner and the other has half a couch.

As for the rest of the family. My father is too closeminded to watch any anime. He tries to heckle me about it, but his limited knowledge makes him an easy target for a backlash. :devil: I doubt my mother or sister could care less. Neither seems to watch much TV, and my sister hates to read (even with pictures).

If they do not wish to see any of it, then oh well. They will never know what they are missing, since anime is better then a lot of American TV (except Smallville).

XD my parents dont know what anime even is.

Im not much into anime. Its fun to watch tho. The rest of my family on the other hand...@_@,, none of them like anime. Cept my brother....he's...a little into anime, but not really. Like if he's bored he would watch it. My OLDER brother tho...he makes fun of me for watching anime-__-

So, no, not many otaku's in my family^^:;

Like most of ya'll said, my dad, also, picks on me. He'll sit and watch it with me and, well, you know how on DBZ they would groan a whole lot and they did that on most animes,... my dad will sit there and groan like they do and make fun of the names. So, whenever he's in the same room as anime, I leave. My mom liked Gundam but when the anime starts getting wierd (like into japanese customs or legends or stuff that contradicts our religion) she doesn't watch that. My sister likes Tenchi (even though it's not playing) and Big O. Oh, and she like my manga-Marmalade Boy- but she never got past the 7th page so I took it back. So, I'm basically a lone otaku...

My little brother enjoys YuYu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin. He also watched Gundam Wing and Dragonball Z, but my dad made him stop watching Z. I think my older brother is into Cowboy Bebop, but after that I don't know. My parents don't really understand what's going on, my mom has turned down repeated invitations to watch Trigun with me. She and my dad do have to endure my rantings about Trigun, they listen, but don't really care. They did get me the Trigun box set for my birthday though, so it's cool.

Oh...you just had to bring up family. XD My mother has had the most unfortunate experiences in walking in at the exact worst possible momement. Allow me to elaborate:

Sorcerer Hunters:

"Come get busy with me Carrot!" u_u; Plus the whole majorly exposing outfits thing...

Angel Sanctuary:

"I've had an honest desire to make love to my sister!"
Mom: WHAT?!
ME: They're not really siblings! Uhm...*coughcough*

Neon Gensis Evangelion:

(End of Evangelion when Rei is naked.)
Mom: What is this?!?!
Me: Uhmm...it's not porn! I swear! x.x"

Fruits Basket:

"And when we change back...*poof*...we're naked."
Mom: What?! MORE nudity?!
Me: Uhmm...you can't see them! They've got the poofy colorful clouds of dust! See! See the poofy colorful clouds of dust?!

Dragon Ball:

During the part when Master Roshi requests the removal of some of Bulma's clothes in exchange for a dragon ball.
Mom:...X_X
Me: They're not ALL like that, I swear!!!

And so on and so forth. You kind of guess my mom's motto:

"Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil, stay out of Karmi's room."
u_u;;

As for the rest of my family...my dad lives in a world of PC gaming and my brother is a big fan of (you'll never guess) Sailor Moon! XD He's a great buddy to watch the Sailor Moon movies with. A majority of everyone else just thinks they're stupid. v.v I'm so misunderstood! T.T

Okay, enough of that. TTFN!

I think I'll be fine provided my parents never watch anything I own. Now, I should state that nothing I own is hentai, but my parents believe otherwise. Because of that, I now have to carry my entire collection in my backpack which I have to take to school. So, as you can guess, people are constantly pestering me to let them borrow something. Not that, I mind since they always give'em back in good shape. Anyway, the reason my parents hate anime is because they just don't take the time to understand it. C'mon, would you consider Burn Up eXcess porn? Wait, don't answer that....

You mean you DO have hentai?! And I didn't know this and i've looked inside of the backpack. What's up with that!!!!!!!!!! Well my family just looks at me funny and my mom hates it when i take her into Suncoast. (an anime store! you can buy pocky there)

Hm, let's see...
My cousins that are boys like very little anime, may watch Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh, but aren't big fans of it. For the rest of my family...don't even know what anime means. OtakuSennen, they are pretty much only Lego and Bionicle fans, I'm all alone.
I'm pretty much the only one in my family who likes anime and actually watches it almost every day and actually likes it. My parents...they don't give a crap about it. I'M UNIQUE!!

Well my big bro( Drew, 16 not Doug 18. Doug thinks anime/manga is the lowest form of entetainment. But he didn't think Sailor Moon was so bad when he was 13.....) Yeah well anuwaus Drew has a lot of anime. Mostly stuff with big fighting mechas and stuff. But he does have the manga of Ranma 1/2 that I have been sneaking out of his room....*evil laughter* But I let him read my Inuyasha manga so it's all good.....those two really the only two we both like alot....so I guess it's nice to have otakus in the family.

In my family I'm the only one who is really into manga.But when I bring some anime home they mostly sit down and watch it with me.I sorta got my dad hooked on Escaflowne.He was mad when the tape was over because he couldn't see what was going to happen.I had to explain that there were only four episodes on the tape.My mom could really care less.I got my little brother to watch SD Gundum with me one day and now he sits around quoting it.It was cute for the first hour and a half after that it got annoying.Just imagine a six year old running around saying "Zako?Zako zako..."
Now to the positive end of the scale.
My little cousin absolutly loves Sailor Moon.So we sit around and watch SM for hours and once I had the manga with me and I read it to her.It was cute till she bit me.(long story)She also has me print out pics for her.Once I made her a coloring book.I gave it to her as a present when she got out of the looney bin.She even runs around screaming random attacks and tranformation sentences.Its cute.
My stepbro really isn't picky just as long as there are no subtitles. That experiment didn't go to well.He tried reading manga but it confused him.He's not the brightest crayon in the box.But he did like the pictures in Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha.
My stepmom is starting to love anime and manga.She's even taking me to Sugio Con in 10 more days.w00t! But she is a little mad at me because I told her to read the first volume of Marmalade Boy and she ened up liking it but I didn't have the volume.So she hopes that I get it soon.
Well I guess that covers it.

You are so lucky.....my mother wil never take me to a con. And if I go with my dad I won't be able to go anywahere by myself. gee I wonder why you brother likes the pictures in Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2? Is it because of the topless girls? Probably....your still lucky to have a family who reads or watches anime or manga. that might happen if I was the only one left in my family. Cause my bro wil never talk about anime or manga with me so what is the point? Oh yeah....free manga....that I steal from his room.....*walks off with #1 of Ranma 1/2 under her shirt while whistling*

OMG! You must be very lucky I say! To have your family like anime/manga. I tried to show my mom how to read it and that didn't work out over well, she got all confused and upset cuz she didn't understand how to read it. But! For the good part. My friends are like obsessed when i bring a manga to school. They try to read it and end up liking it and finding it very hilarious. So i try to get more and bring it for them to read. ^^

I don't really think there are many people in my family who are into anime. They accept it, but usually think it's wierd, or don't understand it.

My dad thinks manga is a waste of money(well I kind of agree with him to a point though, I only read it a few times and then put it down and let it collect dust). But still, I guess it doesn't matter since I usually buy things with my own money.

I remember showing my aunt a manga(Inu-Yasha) one time, and her reaction was funny. She didn't really care about the nudity, but went on and on about the violence and fighting. O_o It went something like this:

Me:This is what I was talking about.

Aunt:Oh my! They're fighting each other. Look! She already killed a girl!(referring to when Kikyou pinned Inu-Yasha to the tree with her arrow)

Me:Um... that's a guy. His name is Inu-Yasha. And he's not dead.

Aunt:*turns to another page that happens to have nudity*

Me:*braces self for her reaction* Erm... what do you think of that?

Aunt: Oh, it's just a boob. But this book is just so violent! It's awful!

Me: O_o

I guess I should try to find something more "family friendly" they would like and sit them down and watch it. Might open a few minds.

HA! The way you described it "familly friendly" might be nudity packed. Yikes. You shouldnt let your manga collect dust.
