Art A First for Breko - Oh My Goddess! Banner

[color=indigo]I've finally made an anime banner for myself; something I haven't done before. The one other anime banner I made was a request, so this is the first one I myself am actually using. Whee. ^_^

Basically, I just watched the series Oh My Goddess! (or whatever you want to call it -- I've seen a few different translations) and I liked it enough to make a banner for it. And when I was done, I was happy enough with the result to actually use the banner, so here I am.

I think that you have a done a very good job with it Syk. Nice quality pictures, good layout, and the font is perfect for it. One thing: How did you get the "y" to trail into the Japanese? Anyway, it is a really cool banner. i like it. I gIve it an 8/10.

A high quality banner, however, it's aesthetics do not really appeal to me, despite it's merit.

It wasn't me, heh. *points to Desbreko's name* I do agree that he did a very nice job on this, though. :)

The pictures are all of fairly high quality, though you could have cut out the picture on the left a little smoother. I think you did especially well on the text, if you did it yourself, since the font goes perfectly with the feel, and the shadow is a nice touch. You also made a good distinction between the background and foreground images, and overall, it's a good banner.

There's really nothing particularly bad about the banner that you need to improve on other than the cut out of the foreground characters, but you can always get better with every banner. :)

And yes, the cutout of the foreground image could be a bit better. I forgot to smooth out the edges while making it, and then after I was done, I didn't want to go back and change the banner again. Yeah, I know, I'm lazy.

As for the text, that's the English logo for the anime. (I tried making my own text, but I couldn't find a font that I liked. And besides, it's usually hard to do better than something's logo). So I didn't actually make the text myself, but I did do more than just cut and paste it. The only (halfway) decent image of it I could find was a grainy gif, so after I cut it out I had to smooth the edges a lot. And then I had to get the black drop shadow just right in order to make it look like it did originally. (The logo was on a dark blue background, so I couldn't cut out the dropshadow without leaving a bunch of blue around it -- not without doing it all by hand, which I did [i]not[/i] want to do).

There was also the problem of trying to find balance on a dropshadow going diagonally up/left. I had to get it so the edges of the text wouldn't blend together with the background and be hard to see, while at the same time making sure it wasn't so dark that it would actually change the look of the text. I'm still surprised at how well the whole thing came out.

Overall, for a "making it up as I go along" banner, I think it turned out pretty good. I was changing it around, trying different pictures in it as I found them, until I finally settled on the two I used plus the logo for the text. :cross:[/color]

I really like it!!I really like the text it looks really nice with the mood and images the banner has,the color of the text is really great,also it looks like it has a little shadow behind the text which makes it look really nice!!The image that's faded looks really great and makes a nice background for the image infront,and it's not too faded and not too dark.The image infront of the faded one looks really great,but the cutting of the guy's hair is a little rough looking,but if it was a bit more smoother it would look really nice ^^!!Also the images have a really nice quality!The image is really cute and suits the background really well!!

Overall I really like it,but the cutting on the guy's hair is a little rough,but other than that it's really nice looking and great!!After you explained what happened,you still made it look really nice,and I agree sometimes the logo for something is usually better sometimes ^^!!My rate 9.8/10

[color=green]Wonderful job Des, I really like how you cut out the front image, and the faded backround is just lovely. How long it took you to somehow fix up/clone/cut out that logo, I do not know, but you did a wonderful job. More banners, each and every one of yours is just so appealing.^^[/color]
