The Beatles... rock legends...

Since I havn't seen a beatles thread, and I'm listening to a Beatles track right now, I'm making this thread. How many of you anime nuts listen to the beatles? If you do, then what do you like about them? Personaly I like their diversity of songs, not to mention those catchy tunes... I've memorized several of their songs, and I'm workin on the rest :D

Yeah!!!! The beatles are awesome!!!! I'm glad to see another person likes this great 60's group. ok, first off, my dad is obsessed with them, so it kinda got passed down to me. I even did an essay on Paul McCartney, even though he's not my favorite beatle. (that's ringo!) Every year we go to beatlefest in Chicago, and it's so much fun! They show teh beatles' movies like Help!, and Hard Day's NIght, Yellow Submarine, and all the others! I've always loved the beatles music, and they are a legend. If you haven't heard of they you must have been living under a rock for the last 40 years. If you haven't listened to one, or all of their songs (like I have! :)) I suggest you do. they are one of the greatest bands who have ever sang a song. The british invasion has begun!!!! :)

oh how true... unfortunatly, the only Beatles movie I've been able to see is Yellow Submarine, and if you've seen it, you know how crazy it is! half-way through I'm like O_O; Anyway, I didn't know they HAD a Beatle Fest lol. (have you really listened to every single one??) I just recently burned a CD with the best of their songs from two CDs... Yellow Sub. and Beatles 1. That's what I was listening to earlier ^^

whoo! the Beatles are so awesome! they were the first band I ever listened to after I gave up nursery rhymes! heh heh, I even own their movies A Hard Days Night and Help! too. their songs are just so much fun and I love the lyrics and rhythms. even though I now have different taste in music, I still pull out those cd's and listen to them whenever the mood strikes me. and I always sing along when they come on the radio. ^_^

Don't forget about Magical Mystery Tour! It's pretty much where they're on a bus tour, I think. I've forgotten what Help and Hard Days Night is about, but I remember the grandfather in Hard Day's is "Very Clean."

What can you say about the Beatles in the later parts of their time together. They were stoners, as were many people in the 70's, like it or not. To me, their best music came out of this time, though putting up a fight is Elanor Rigby.

I've you've never been to a Beatles imitator concert, you're missing out (cough,FirePhoenix,cough[hopefully not saying the wrong person]).

One thing: many people do not know that Paul McCartney was the band's bassist. And he only took up the bass because the band didn't have one.

Last comment: If you haven't picked up a video/dvd Beatles: Anthology, you need to.

Yeah. The Beatles kick. They are the best band in the world, no doubt.

A lot of people are suprised that me, a 12 year old, is such a huge fan, but they can thank my dad for getting me the One Album for Christmas last year.

I have seen Help! AHDN, Yellow Submarine, and all the Anthologies, but I haven't seen MMT or Let It Be.

I have only 6 albums so far, but they are some of the best like my relatives say.

Anyway... unfortunatly, I only have two Beatles CD's... but they're good ones, Yellow Submarine and Beatles 1... ya, I said that in my last post didn't I?

Who here has memorized 1 or more Beatles songs? Daisuke and Radaghast, I don't even have to ask I'm sure ^^

Personaly I memorized Hey Bulldog (my favorite ^^) Elanor Rigby, most of Day Tripper, and big bits of the rest I've heard.

[color=indigo]I have always been a huge Beatles fan, and to this day I will adamantly argue that they are the best band of all time (although they aren't always my favorite...my favorite band tends to rotate on an hourly basis :)).

They were just so good at doing everything. They could write kitchy simplistic pop songs that stuck in your head for hours, yet they could also create these insanely complex works that incorparated drastically profound lyrics with subtle melodic harmonies that could fixate you for days on end. I have a hard time even writing about them because I really don't know where to begin.

I guess that the easiest way for me to describe them is to simpl say they define the "revolutionary icon" label that people try and peg so many artists with.[/color]

lol, that's great! Help is my favorite movie, although i don't really know why. I think it's cuz i you can understand it, it's in color, and ringo is basically the star! :) You know, i think they just released Let it Be on to DVD. it's never been released before. and as to your comment about Paul Radaghast, he only became the bassist because the guy who was their bassist quit to marry some lady in germany, i believe. altough i can't remember if that was during the beatles or when they were just simply "the quarrymen". hum.....

What I meant by "Elanor Rigby putting up a fight" was a comparison to their later works.

In Regards to FirePhoenix's comment about memorizing the songs: With the Red and Blue albums, I've listened to them so much that if I hear a song on the radio that was on one of the two, I start singing the song that comes after it when it ends my habit. Yeah, I was raised on oldies. And your rendition of Help with the smilies was brilliant. I salute you.

To Dourocks: I didn't know that they had a before Paul bassist, or that they were called The Quarrymen.

A postcard to Queen Asuka: Sgt. Pepper is one of the best CD's...ever.

A curiosity directed to Mitch: "Bob Dylan....rock legend". I don't recall Bob Dylan being in the Beatles, so may I ask, what's up??

Firstly, I believe the ?He? of the song has Gonorrhea.

Shoeshine. What is shoeshine used for? To protect your shoes. A protective surface as to prevent damage. What also fits this definition? Condom. Thus, ?He? is not wearing a condom.

?Monkey finger.? What would be?a finger in this sense? Yes, the member. What does monkey skin often feel like? Rubbery and rough. Now examine this description: a syphilis chancre that is hard or rubbery. The ?monkey finger? is in fact a member infected with syphilitic warts.

?Shoot coca-cola.? The reference is obvious. Shooting coke. Chances are then, dirty needles, un-sterilized equipment, making a situation easy for diseases to be transmitted.

?I know you, you know me.? What is a classic definition of ?knowing?? You guessed it. Sexual action.

?Come together right now over me.? He is telling the woman to orgasm as she rides him.

Next stanza:

What is ?armchair?? Another reference to the woman riding him. Think of it as sitting in a chair.

?Can feel his disease.? This has a few interpretations.

1) The woman can feel the sores forming on herself.
2) She can feel something wrong as she is riding him.

Regardless, ?disease? is STD.

And I covered ?come together? already.

Next stanza:

Can we say, swingers? Threesomes? Sexual adventure, increasing the chances of STD transmittal.[/spoiler]

Bob Dylan didnít come away from that time with just blood-shot eyes and a grin. Upon his return to America, he began thinking of ways to bring his folk music into a new aural medium. What came out of his head were two albums released in 1965: "Bringing It All Back Home" and "Highway 61 Revisited".

Dylan was a huge influence on their writing style, but the Beatles were well on their way to Rock Icon status before Dylan had any influence on their style (Help, Hold Your Hand, to name a few). Plus, your original statement had absolutely nothing to do with the Beatles?it is like me saying ?Led Zepplin rules!? in a thread about Metallica and then attempting to justify it later. It really was out of place.

Well, in part, it's because I'm an English major and enjoy writing literary interpretation. I'm a bit sadomasochistic in that respect.

And uh...I had heard Come Together on the radio a few days ago, noticed one suggestive sentence on there, and decided to check it out. Turns out, looks like I was right lol. I just ran a search for "STD information" on google.com. That public health awareness page was one of the first listings.

Those who know me are aware of my intuition about and skill with deviant sexual innuendo. I basically live in it. My writing is filled with it, and I've found that studying Shakespeare and Walt Whitman can really open your eyes to the wilyness (sp?) of subtle sexuality in writing.
