Guest Crimson Spider
Mightyena is one of the hardest pokes for me to make a set for. For some strange reason, I just can't puft moves together for him. Mightyena: bright powder/quick claw/leftovers/focus band Shadowball Poison fang Swagger Doubleteam EVs: 252 in HP. 126 in Atk, and speed/any defense Quite resiliant with only HP actually. But this sets strat is to confuse your opponent (his ability should make it so swaggers attack boost isn't too much of a problem, assuming they have physical attacks), badly poison them, and continue to be a problem with D-team and shadowball. Just beware of steel with him, which he could never really defeat.
GuyYouMetOnline
Time for a new Pokemon, and I choose Mudkip. Mudkip is the best starter in terms of Gym battles. he's good against the first gym, and had no avantages or dissadvantages over the second. And by the time you reach Wattson's Gym in Mauville, it'll probably have evolved into Marshtomp, making him immune to electric attacks. Plus, he's good for Ruby players, who will fight fire-using Team Magma. I chose Mudkip my first time through, and I'm glad I did. It was harder when I used the other two. Zanarkand Abes
Mudkip is a great starter and he is pretty strong through out the game. Yet I don't like the look of hi final form. It looks kinda funny. But he is a good choice over all.
Rei
Squirtle is a turtle, Totodile is a crocodile, what is Mudkip?
Guest Crimson Spider
Mudkip is modeled after a type of fish called a "Mud skipper", with the exception that it has legs. It's evolved form, Swampert, is the best overall water/ground type. Swampert: quick claw Earthquake Rest Curse Rock tomb EVs: 252 in HP and Sp def. Perso: Careful, Impish, Adamant, Jolly Something you don't commonly expect is a physical water type. But this set focuses more on it's ground trait. You EV train in HP and Sp def because that's the ONLY thing to EV train in. Attack and Def and raised up quite a bit, while speed is dropped quite a bit, and special attack isn't even used. But if you want it's water trait... Swampert: Quick claw/leftovers Surf/muddy water Icebeam rocktomb* Roar EVs: 124 in HP, Def, Sp def, And Sp atk Perso: Modest, Bold, Calm This is what most people would expect. I put rock tomb to not only slow down opponents, but to offer offense against shedninja. Swampert:leftovers Water pulse Attract whirlpool toxic EVs: 252 in HP. 124 in def, 128 in Sp def. Perso: Calm, Bold. I believe I got the inspiration for this set from Serena. Attract, Trap, Confuse, poison. Built for defense. I haven't tested this one on the field yet, so don't expect it to be an uber annoyer.
Imp
We need a new Pokemon of the Week. Starmie Ah yes, one of Misty's first Pokemon; it's a shame she had to get rid of it later on. (in the episode "The Misty Mermaid") Starmie's a pretty cool Pokemon because it's a Water-type that has high Sp. Atk and can learn Thunderbolt. I used a Starmie like that in Gold, and I plan to have one in Ruby when I get it. Moveset: Surf Psychic Thunderbolt Recover *Hydro pump is too inaccurate. Recover is a good move though :) *sounds like a TV advertiser* So catch your Starmie today; it's good for a Water/Psychic-type that can heal itself! If you don't like Alakazam's defense, get a Starmie instead! (Just be sure your Staryu knows Recover before it evolves.)
Guest Crimson Spider
Starmie has many sets, including the sweeper listed above. Starmie: leftovers Thunderwave C-ray Psychic/surf/icebeam Recover Starmie: Thunderwave Thunderbolt Surf recover. (ru/sa)Starmie: leftovers Cosmic power Rest Psychic/surf/icebeam/thunderbolt/toxic Surf/icebeam/thunderbolt/psychic/toxic Perso: Modest Ability: Natural heal. EVs: 252 in HP, 128 in speed, 124 in sp atk. Makes quite the tank/offensive. Natural heal (not sure if actual english name is that), means that when you switch out, you are healed of all status effects, including sleep.
