I have noticed just recently (I haven't been here for quite some time) that there are not any threads about animes that are fansubed. The only ones I see are R1s. I was just curious if there are any other OBers out there that watches Fansubs.

Fansubs? Yum. I haven't seen any in so long, perhaps because any anime is now being tossed into a television lineup as soon as it appears in the US, regardless of quality level. Still, I'd rather spend my time watching any passable fansub than any fraction of the current Toonami lineup.

I generally end up blowing all of my carefully saved money on R1 DVDs, although one of my friends watches almost nothing but fansubs. I've been fairly impressed with the quality of most of the fansubs in his collection, but I also like having the (occasionally meager) extras found in a show's official American release.

Contrary to popular belief, dub tracks do sometimes come in handy--particularly if you're trying to introduce a subtitle-fearing non-fan to the wonderful world of anime.

Other than that, I'd have to agree with Cahoots. No SD Gundam or Justice League for me, thank you very much.

Fansubbed titles are enjoyable to watch when you get a good group doing the fansubbing (one that knows the English grammer well and can translate from Japanese fluently). Considering I really don't watch dubs of animes newaz, I don't mind fansubs at all. I use it as a good way to watch an anime series and find if it's something I'd like to see more of. If it's good enuf, I might eventually buy the DVD. With prices over $25 for 3-4 eps, it better be good or there's no point buying it. Fansubs are a good gage of testing that as well as watching new anime just released in Japan and won't make it's way into the US for some time. Overall, I'd give a thumbs up to fansubs even though there a lot of people who hate them for a variety of reasons.

That's really all that I own. It started from necessity, due to the fact that I am always broke. But it has become a way of life, and I do enjoy listening to the japanese language. It just seems like you're watching it how the creator wanted you to.

The only time that I buy dubbed is at a HUGE sale or on an impulse when I feel a little ansy for some anime(and have some extra cash). I still end up watchin' it subbed, though.

You buy fansubs? Don't buy fansubs. They're never meant to be bought.

Anyway, I do watch fansubs on occasion. (I like hearing the Japanese infinitely more than English, so I usually watch subtitled ones on the DVDs I have too.) Have you seen Scrapped Princess? I am in love with that show.

That's how I got into it. Over the summer with me not having anything to do, and no money to do it, I turned to my computer and I discovered Fansubs. It is pretty much what I spend most of my time online doing.

Wow, I just last year started downloading Fansubs, but before then I would order them. In fact I started my own little Fansub Distro. 5 years ago. It lasted for like a month. It was nice though, way back when there were SO many Fansubs. Now most of them are getting licensed right and left. I miss the good old day of inexpensive fansubs.

I love fansubs. They are cool because:

1. They are free.
2. Are in Japanese
3. Not censored

I've seen a few different fansub shows. Naruto, Strawberry Eggs, Green Green, you name it. I enjoy them a lot. Since I am broke a lot of the time, the fact of these fansubs being free is really good.
They are just a cheap way to enjoy anime.

I never really thought about the censoring. But I guess that is a big reason. I only watched anime on american tv when I was first introduced into the world of anime. After a while I just bought it all. But now I save tons of cash! Thanks Japan.

Jaa.

w00t! Fansubs rock. Except for some really stupid ones. I want to bang my head against the wall every time I watch a Yu Yu Hakusho episode where the butthole who subbed them got Hiei's and Kurama's names mixed up. I mean, how can you miss it every time? Yusuke shouts "Kurama!" and it'll read "Hiei!" at the bottom. *Sighs* But fansubbed Inuyasha episodes are the only way to go. *Shudders at Kagome's dubbed voice* 'Nuff said.
