Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars

I absolutely love Crest of the Stars, it has a massive collection of information, if you hunt. Crest of the Stars was actually a Sci-Fi Novel in Japan, and the author created a whole language and culture for the Abh. Really, just as huge as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, if you watch it all, :)

A very well done anime title. The fact that the entire Abh language was created IRL and not just a grouping of random symbols on the screen proves how much effort was put into it. The art was great, especially the picture of the sunflowers on the warship, and unlike some other titles the love story in it was not quite as tacky.

I enjoyed it so much that I am hoping my library will buy the Banner of The Stars series that follows it (set about three years later, I think).

I really like Crest of the Stars. The animation is quite good, especially the pictures aboard the Gosroth (such as the aforementioned sunflower picture),the love story is actually bearable (not full of cheese, but I watch the cheesy ones too ^_^), and the culture is really fascinating. Supposedly there are at least two other series after the one they showed on TechTV, but what they are or how to get them I´ve no idea about. TechTV does cut out ending themes, but if the end of Crest of the Stars is anything like the opener, I don´t really care. The opening theme is really boring, but the show itself is definitely worth watching.

Yes! I'd be happy to!

It's about a girl and a boy in outter space. They live on a ship called Gasiroth. Welll, one day their ship gets attacked and the captain sends the two out to get help. The girl's name is Lafiel and the boy's name is Jinto. So they take their captain's orders and set off. They never find help and Gasiroth is no longer existing.

They don't trust each other at first. They never liked one another or spoke. Then Lafiel finally opened up a bit and Jinto learned that She was the princess of some place(forgot what the name was --_--!). So they fly to different places and are trying to be kidnapped by some emporer. They escape.

They finally land down on Earth. Then they are in bigger trouble than before. They fight for their lives in an amusement park. They sneak away from the military and finally were saved by these outter space people and they send them back out to space. Now they fully trust eachother and are girlfriend and boyfriend.

So yeah, that's basically what it is about. Well, shortened up a bit anyways. I really hope you get to see the show. It's really really interesting!

Definately a great series. I think that it went just a little heavy on the whole "one-sided love."

The fact that the creators actually created an entire alphabet for the Ab proves just how dedicated they were to the whole series. Also, the artwork is amazing, even the CG parts fit in really well.

Yeah, the whole Abh thing was amazing. The animation was really good too.

Has anyone seen Banner of the Stars? It's supposedly a sequel series of sorts (wow, a tongue twister), and I really want to see it. I felt the whole thing ended too soon.

Yep, seen Banner of The Stars, too. For some reason I did not like that one as much as COTS, though. I have not seen the entire BOTS yet, but am in no big hurry from what I saw of the first episodes.

I've seen all the episodes but I think it ended too sudden. I mean like, what happened to Lafiel and her father. Did her and Jinto ever meet again or start a real relationship. I had to watch the whole thing three times to figure out what it was about exactly. The one that confused me the most was Gosroth's last battle. I didn't get that
ship blew up in the battle
until the third time I watched. I have a short attention span so that was probably why. Could you tell me when Banner of the Stars comes on? I'd like to see it for myself.

Yes, I want to know what happened to them too. But Jinto had said he returned home to his planet as did Lafiel return to hers. But sadly, Iwas not able to find out more. I appreciate ya'lls thoughts though! It's really nice to see people are on the same track as you.

I saw something 'of the Stars,' although I believe it was Crest of the Stars on TechTV. Personally, I really didn't like the animation, I thought it was pretty crummy. However, I can't speak for plot or characters, since I only saw about 2 episodes before my cable was cut off. Just my opinion.

OMG...................I just remembered that while I was looking through techtv there was a show called Banner of the Stars on. I didn't know what it was so I only recorded one epi to see what it was. Could I be informed on what happened on the first six episodes. I'm confused right now in it.

Crest of the Stars? Hey I just saw that a couple days ago. I only viewed the first four episodes. I agree. It is pretty good. It is definitely something that I would like to continue watching. Too bad my friend, whom I borrowed the anime from doesn't have anymore episodes. :bawl:

The second season of Crest of the Stars. I really like it. I was wondering what it was until I was watching Soul Taker on TechTV. I enjoy it. It includes our original characters, Lafiel and Jinto, but also has newer characters. I would like to know what others thought of this show, thus leading me to making this post... and if this is to be merged with another thread, please ignore this (I lost track of threads...). So please tell me what you think. :)

I thought the middle season of this series was a bit flabby. It seemed to promise some progress in the Jinto x Lafiel relationship but didn't deliver anything of the kind. Instead, it broadened the scope of the action in a way that dissipated the intimacy of the first series.

The overarching story of the two brothers was unnecessary and annoying - no matter how many times they were dragged on stage, there was never any reason given to like them or even find them interesting.

I think a better adaptation method would have been to skip all the strategy talks (or at least cut it down to maybe 2 scenes to initiate and wrap up the campaign). The show always improved when focusing on Lafiel's ship and her crew, and they saw enough action in different sectors to suggest the scope of the campaign. Spelling the whole thing out scattered the impact and broadened the cast to an extent insupportable for a short series.
