Pagan
For some odd reason, I've been looking forward to seeing this movie. I remember when I was little I hated the book. The thought of a huge cat coming in your house bothering you is a little scarey to me. I was more of a Green Eggs and Ham fan myself. Mike Myers should make a great cat though. He is a great actor and really funny, not to mention they kinda already look alike. I really don't like the month it's being released in though, I don't think it should be released for thanksgiving. I would like to see it in January more then November. I wonder which movie is better How the Grinch Stole Christmas or The Cat In the Hat. Rockstar Haruko
I can't wait for the Cat in the Hat to come out either. I just hope they don't mess it up. No offense, but How the Grinch Stole Christmas was kind of lame. I thought that there would be more comedy in it or something. It was sweet, but by the time it was over, I was snoring.
Queen Asuka
I'm a big fan of Dr. Suess, but I don't know if I'll ever see the Cat in the Hat movie, other than the animated feature. I never watched the Grinch, either. (Or maybe I did? I can't remember.) I prefer to see it animated. Bringing it to life sort of takes away the vibrancy of it all. Of course, being in Orlando at Islands of Adventure/Suess Landing was something else. That place was an amazing piece of architecture.
Chichiri's Girl
I loved the Grinch with Jim Carrey but i don't think they should keep on making Dr. Suess's books into live-action movies.....I agree with Queen Asuka. It's making seem sorta....dull....I'll probably still see it though. I'll be draged to it by my mom....which is okay by me! lol Yes but anyhoo I do want to see what Mike Myers will do to the part. On ET the other day they were talking about the music vedio he's in with Smash Mouth for the movie. He was jumping around every where. I feel sorry for him though. It most be hot in that costume....
Guest Kurayami Karasu
lol. I saw a few trailers of that movie and they totally screwed it...there's alot of of chat about Mike Myers in my school. Stuff like "From Dr. Evil to Dr. Suess". He's losing popularity... WW2
I'm sorry but after seein' the previews for the movie, I have no intention to ever see the Cat in the Hat movie. I think it just looks ridiculous, and doesn't interest me at all. Its like Tori mentioned, the animated Dr. Seuss movies were really good and captured the spirits of the books. But the live action versions don't nearly do as good a job as the cartoons. They try to turn a thirty minute story into a two hour movie by adding a bunch of extra jokes and special effect sequences, and end up hurting the original story. To me, Hollywood is just using these great Dr. Seuss stories as a ways to make a little extra money. But thats just my opinion. If you want to see the real "Cat in the Hat"/"The Grinch", read the book, or at least rent the animated films. :D
thethespian
Hmmm.... The Cat in The Hat. My first impressioin is that it seems kinda young. I don't really know though. The grinch kinda seemed young too but when i saw it i thought it was amazing!!! AMAZING!!! lol. Mike Myers is a very funny comedian, and im sure he'll bring a lot more to the movie. I have to disagree with you people who say the animated ones are better. I personally think that the real life movies make the movie, well... more real! ITs also better because, i don't know, i can't really explain it. There's just something about the real movies that i really like. It could be because im aspiring to be a movie actor, but i don't know. But i do agree on some extent about changing books to movies. I'm ok with the Grinch and probably The Cat in the hat because they weren't really stories that i really really liked. But as in some movies, like "Harry Potter" i was a bit upset cuz they changed stuff from the book and that series is my ultimate favorite. But they still did a good job on the movie so it didn't really matter that much. I think i'll give The Cat in The Hat a try. If i don't like it, oh well. Atleast i'll have snacks from the consessions! And plus, i don't think i'll absolutely hate it! I think that i'll atleast enjoy it to some extent. Semjaza
The previews I've seen look moronic, honestly. I'm personally rather annoyed by the fact that it had some sexual innuendo in it too, but I guess everyone would feel differently about that. Once The Amazing Lord Geisel died, I think they should have just left his properties alone entirely. Just keep printing his books and put the old cartoons on DVD... that way I can get my "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" fix and be happy. Kanariya
I agree fully with WW2. I would go read the books, The Cat in the Hat is rated PG I believe. The animated ones are good, but live versions would really spoil the book to me. Ah memories...the one with the guy who spoke for the trees... Queen Asuka
Amen, Tony. The movie industry is pretty much getting desperate though, so it seems they make just about anything into a movie nowadays if they think it will be even REMOTELY successful.
Zanarkand Abes
I would have loved to have seen Jim carey in this one also, but it makes sense that he isn't since he is now the Grinch. But Mike Meyers is the best one for this movie other than Carey. Either way it should be funnier than the Grinch.
Rockstar Haruko
The Grinch and The Cat in the Hat look exactly the same though now that I think about. The only thing different about them is that the Grinch is green. Wouldn't it be cool if the Grinch and the Cat were twin brothers? They could be.
