What do you think of Gothica?

This movie looks like it is going to suck. I mean from what I've seen about the plot it needs alot of work. It looks like they made this movie in a couple of days.

I think they really should have released this movie for Halloween and not Thanksgiving it would have atleast drawn a horror movie crowd, but then it would have had to compete against other horror movies at the time. When I think of Thanksgiving movies though I picture family movies like the Cat and the Hat and that new Eddie Murphey movie about a haunted house.

I wish Halle Berry would have chosen a different horror movie I think she could be really good in one, well atleast better then Jennifer Lopez in Enough. I really respect her skills as a actress and think she could be good in any movie she is in, but can she save Gothica? I think not even Queen Halle herself can save this one from sucking though.

Hm, Robert Downey Jr.'s out of rehab, that's nice. I loved him on Ally McBeal.

Anyway, I just went to watch the trailer for this movie at [url]http://www.apple.com/trailers/[/url] . The trailer actually makes it look pretty good, I think. I'm wondering why they named it Gothika (yes it has that K) -- it came up in a class I'm taking, the Gothic Tradition in Fiction (basically, Gothic Lit.). The context was, "That new movie with Halle Berry called Gothika sure looks like it's going to suck ..."

From what I saw of the trailer, I can't predict whether or not the plot will be interesting because it depends on where they end up taking it. I thought the twist about how Halle Berry usually is the analyst and then ends up insane was a good start, so it looks promising to me. Of course I won't go see it because I don't watch horror films, but if I were that type, I might consider watching it.

As for the Halloween/Thanksgiving thing, you might be right there, but I could still see this being a family thing ... like if you're a family who all enjoys ... horror flicks ... or something.

Trailers really don't predict how good a movie is in the least bit. It has terrific actors in it, but I would have to read the script and get familiar with the director before I could make a more vaild prediction.
