Gaming Multiplayer Madness

[color=indigo]Is it just me, or do people have some extremely annoying habits when it comes to multiplayer gaming? I've noticed a few in various people, and I think the one that gets me the most if when a person has to pause the game every time he or she wants to make a comment or something like that. I always feel like screaming "Can't you talk and play at the same time? You don't have to be looking at me to speak to me!"

Another one that really irks me, though thankfully doesn't seem as common, is when people feel the need to pause every two minutes because they're doing something that looks cool. (This usually applies mainly to Super Smash Bros. Melee). It goes hand-in-hand with the last one, too. "We're not in camera mode, and I'm watching you do it! I don't need to see a still shot of it for five minutes while you describe what I just saw for myself!" Again, what I feel like screaming in those situations...

But yeah, those are the two main things that really annoy me. Anyone else have any multiplayer pet peeves?[/color]

I don't know if you would call it a pet peeve, but I hate it when I am beating my brothers in Mario Parfty and they go off and start kicking me during the games. Then if they do that enough and beat me then I get how I lost rubbed in my face.

I used to (back in the 8-bit days) tip my friend over backwards in his chair when I was losing in tecmo bowl. He would hold onto the controller and the nintendo would take a dive off the TV. What was he thinking?

My brother pauses the game all the time when we play Smash Bros. Melee. It's very annoying.

Also, when I play FPSs, I hate when people peek over into other player's windows to see where they are. They have the damn radar...isn't that good enough?

Thankfully, nobody I know pauses the game when they feel the need to make a comment. We just let the comments fly while we're in the middle of the game.

Excessive trash talking what I loathe. It's great to razz every now and then, but when it gets out of hand, it becomes no fun to all the people in the room. I just hate it when friendly fun gets serious.

I don't mind the pausing too much. Every now and then, we will do that, but that's only when we start the game with the goal of doing goofy things. It's usually just me and one of my friends during these "posing" sessions.

I've never really had anyone pause often during something, but there are other things. For instance, I have this one friend that, when we want to play Melee, we [i]have[/i] to do it on the Great Fox level. Otherwise, he just sets down his controller and won't play. In some FPSs, I know some aggravating stuff also. Although, it's mainly me that does it. It's not cheap or anything, but annoying nonetheless...in short, beware when I have a hold on a bunch of proximity mines. :devil: Just run around and chuck some in the most random places, then seal yourself in somewhere! Works great in Survival-type scenarios. Sit back and watch as your opponnents suddenly blow up out of nowhere, spawn, and [i]immediately blow up again because you placed a mine there, too![/i] Good fun.

I hate it when you pause the game to go to the bathroom, and while your gone, your "friend" unpauses the game, and beats the crap out of you while your gone.

Depends on who you play against, CS. Your friends are obviously discouraged about fighting you directly, using the "Potty Break Backstab" to gain the upper hand. It's happened to me. But, the trick is, be skilled enough to come back with no health, as they all have surrounded you, with KF7 Soviets trained on your head and kill them. Skill goes a long way against the Potty Break Backstab.

Multiplayer madness...such good memories.

My multiplayer memories consisted mainly of the Potty Break Backstab. Whether my friends and I were shooting each other in GoldenEye, beating the living piss out of each other in Smash, or running around like maniacs playing Virus in TimeSplitters 2, the main technique was straight-up fighting, but we took every opportunity that we could, including PBB.

The trick is to not get annoyed or angry at PBB, but just beat them doubly harshly when you get back. They never enjoy it when you kill them twice upon returning to that reduced health.

My deathmatches don't pause at all, actually...odd...I never realized. We're far too intent on continuing the game, killing each other, and they're too intent on slaughtering me to care enough to pause. Plus, pausing usually means potty break, and potty breaks mean Potty Break Backstabs.
