as i work most days of the week i'm going to miss a lot of Dragonball. Today i came home early to find that some tournament has started

Goku, Krillin and Yamcha have just made it to the finals.

so basically as i'm probably going to miss it, i want to know what happens.

how far does Goku get, same with Krillin and Yamcha, who beats who?

and at what point does Piccolo arrive?

Piccolo arrives in episode 104. It depends on which tournament you are speaking of. In one tournament, Jackie Chun (Master Roshi) gets to the finals and Goku ends up watching. If it's the second tournament, Goku defeats Tien in the finals. Piccolo Daimo arrives after most of the Red Ribbon stuff is over.

SPOILER~

ahhh, i'm guessing that this is the first. It would explain why Jackie Chun was perving on Bulma. I didn't know it was Roshi, but then Roshi went missing so it would explain things.

Krillin has just beaten Bacterion today.

So why does Goku end up watching the final? Why doesn't he take part? Who's in the final, and who wins the final?

{{SPOILER}}

Goku is beaten by Roshi, leaving Chun in it. Goku at this point isn't as strong at Roshi. Here are the winners of the four tournaments:
1. Jackie Chun
2. Jackie Chun
3. Tien
4. Chi Chi

To fill in some gaps, Krillin beats Bacterian to get to the quarter finals. Krillin is later defeated by Jackie Chan (who also eliminated Yamcha). Goku loses to Chan in the finals. That was the second tournament. The first tournament never sees day-light as they refer to Chun as the "returning champion."

Later on, Roshi surrenders to Tien in the third tournament.

{{SPOILER}}

I do believe Goku learns to fly when he is at Korin's Tower, simply because he can do it when he fights the Red Ribbon Army.

Roshi surrenders to Tien for one reason, Tien out smarts him. Tien shows Roshi that he has mastered all of the techniques that Roshi teaches in his school. Since he knows all of Roshi's tricks, and has some of his own, he leads Roshi to believe he cannot win. Roshi simply steps out of the ring and admits defeat since he really had nothing to hit Tien with.

Um....are you sure about that? I thought that in the finals of the first tourament, it was Chan vs. Goku. Chan winning, showing Goku that he needs to train more. And then in the other one, the finals are against Tien and Goku, that's why Tien is always waiting for a remach with Goku. and then, Goku beats Chi Chi in the first round of the finals, and Goku goes on to face Piccollo after Piccolo beats Kami and seals him in teh containment jar.
