I hate my school! I go to Mid-Prairie High School and my classmates are all against Yu-Gi-Oh and anime of all types and I'm the exzact oppisite! I love anime and they even make fun of be because I have bad grades but I am quadlingual! RRRR Anything I draw is instantly a "YUGIOH!" They've even gone as far as to stop calling me Courtney and start calling me Yu-gi-oh! as my name! And If I hear then singing, "Yugioh's mom has got it goin' on!" one more time I'll be so pissed! Anyone ever have problems like that? What should I do?

All I can say is learn to ignore them. A lot of kids are assholes like that.

Your situation is really no different than what a lot of kids go through. Sad as it is to say, there are a lot of kids who will make fun of someone just because they are different than they are, no matter how miniscule the differences may be. I went through the same thing for a while. A friend of mine and I loved video games; a lot of other people didn't. We were called nerds and made fun of. We ignored it. Guess what? Now just about everyone we know loves video games in some form or another. Who're the nerds now :p

So, just give it time and ignore them. Once they realize that they will not get any reaction from you, they should stop.

This is actually kind of funny..........whats the big deal?
I must say i have never been told my mom has it "going on". ^-^
But if i had to give advice i would say either ignore it or talk "smack" back.

Azure_Skies: My mom has it going on!
(proceeds to hurl duel monsters cards)

Azure_Skies: Die!!!!!! I am a supreme being who happens to have an attractive mother!

Stupid_Classmate: Dear God! Possessed! Yu Gi Oh is possessed!
Hurry to the prep mobile! We must consult our God, Justin Timberlake!!!!!!

^-^ Don't let it bother you. But if you do what i just outlined they should leave you alone.

Funny thing about bullies though, you have to go extreme with whatever you do.

Example, if you want to try and ignore them that means you have to go totally cold and ignore ever word from their mouth. (very hard to do and near impossible)

Or, you freak out on them and scare them so they leave you alone.

Best of luck.

Well VR the mom thing is from that song called "Stacey's mom" by Fountains of wayne. It'd really popular here. The problem is that they even take my stuff and write yugioh on it. They will glur pictures of yugioh things to my binders and make fun of me for it! I'm sorry to say I've tried the solid ignore but they will push me around and pull my hair and yell it in my ears and stuff so it's really hard. I really want to hit them but I'm not that king of person. I'm more of the tack on their seat person. I can't stand it! I'm a really nice person too. I really want to just go deaf!

*gets her dub Prisea voice*
Well, maybe you can pull on their mouths to see how far they can stretch...Or maybe it's be better if you boiled them in a *sings* Big pot!
Actually, just ignore the hell out of them, it's no fun if there's no reaction.
Or there's always scaring people $#!^less. BUt then you could become more of an outcast. Which actually has high points of its own because you don't have to worry about conforming to stupidity.
Oh, what do I know about the anime teasing-I got more crap about my weight and the fact thet people just didn't like me. Sugoi ne?

*after reading your reply with the invasion of personal space on it*
Maybe you should attempt to tell the administration and see if they do anything about it. IF not, you can get your parents to annoy the administration about it. TEasing is one thing, but people genking your stuff and getting in your face about everything is quite another. Of course, technically some teasing can be harmful-the whole sticks and stones thing isn't true because words do hurt-and in many ways what some of these students are doing borders on harassment.

It'd be fun to snap and beat one of them to a pulp just to do it. I'd be willing to get in trouble. I'm good looking and I am usually nice so I don't get what their problem is. I tried to tell the teachers but they don't care. The principle don't care. I told my parents and they said that I'll get over it! MAYBE I WON'T I THINK I'LL JUST SNAP PLEASE!

Just ignore all of them.
I am (with the exception of like 2 more people in class)a girl in my class who is much of a tomboy and loves bloody games and stuff while the other girls are just preps and wannabe cheerleaders.
But the unique thing is I am not afraid to speak my mind, not like other people.
I'll blab out my opinions, and if they think I'm crazy, so what? That's their opinion, and you shouldn't care what they think. I'm agreeing with vegeta rocker and Shinmaru.

Tell a teacher. Or, just wait for them to lean over to your ear, then turn and show them the business end of your fist.

I can half-way relate, there's two kids here lately at my dchool who walk up behind me and just keep yelling 'posuer!' in my ear. Then, when i'm at my locker (we ave old double stacked lockers, i got the bottom one) the stand behind me and kick my keet into the wall, and all that other stuff (slamming the locker door, kicking my leg, etc.)

I finally got amd and grabbed him by the shirt collar and slammed him into the wall opposite the lockers, and told him to shut up or i'll kick his ***. He hasn't messed weith me since, but i did do that today, so tomorow's another story....

I agree with pretty much everything everyone has said, but it's up to you. Don't spend so much time deciding what to do.

Just chill out Azure_Skies, you seem like a great person.

Either destroy them or ignore them.

i guess you could sink to their level and throw insults back.
catch my drift?

or you could do what i do, get revenge later. Rat them out for something they do or pull some prank that embarrasses the bejesus out of them. Just make sure it can't be traced back to you.

But then again i am a bit of a troublemaker so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

Believe me, Azure_Skies, when I say, I know what it's like to be teased and harassed by people. It's not fun, and I can understand your discomfort. That's was junior high in a nutshell for me... But I let myself cut loose in high school. I got louder and more self-confident. I stopped listening so much to people who don't like me. There are always going to be people like that. Either ignore them, or laugh with them. Make a point of showing off your love for anime as though it's a joke. People should lay off quite a bit when you're laughing too. Don't let them convince you that you're a worthless person. Keep up your confidence and try to move along.
If the harassment is still bad, keep approaching teachers, adminstration, counselors, parents, pastors, or any other adult who will listen to you. Someone needs to know. Have you been explaining the abuse to them as well? That could be the turning point.
Anyway, I'm going to pray for you if you don't mind. I wish you the best!
~art~
P.S. PM me if you want to keep talking about this privately.

Maybe you just shouldn't draw in class. Stop giving people a reason to make fun of you, ya know? The less stupid* things you do, the less you'll be made fun of.

* granted, "stupid" is objective. But most people are going to find it "stupid" if they see someone always drawing anime characters in class. There IS a line.

Well I've had a similar problem but not with anime. Well actually I do like anime too and I have been bugged about it before, never bothered me though. It was because of the way I dressed that I got bugged about. The pathetic thing was that it was only because I wore a trench coat to school and there are some very immature people at my high school.

I could give you a whole bunch of reasons of why I lost it that day when they went to far. But that doesn't really have anything to do with this. Basically in the end I wrecked one kids sweater, almost broke his jaw and his fingers. After that I got caught by the principal for being in a fight and sent to the office. I didn't even get suspended. Hell I didn't even get a detention, I figured the kid deserved it at the time anyways, so why should have I gotten a detention or suspended in the first place, plus he started it, I finish it that?s how I?ve always been.

Don't go telling me that what I did was wrong or anything, because I don't care and I swear to god I can be the nicest person in the world. But I just said screw it these people are ignorant and wont learn any other way and yes I did talk to the teacher. Unfortunately for me it was a substitute and he did absolutely nothing. Since that day though I've never been bothered about it. They?re idiots (I'm really not exaggerating either) but it's like once one person gets hurt then they all back down. That?s what I did to stop people from bothering me.

And don?t go do what I did, it?s not the best alternative I can tell you, but if you talk to the teachers I don?t see how that will really help at all. I?ve never seen it help they just hate you more for it, and yeah don?t do that stuff in class like Wrist Cutter said it might help. I guess my only real suggestion is your going to have to do something back to them, I don?t know what. But you need to do something.

I remeber getting pick on, but I pretend not to hear them. I understand how you feel. At my old school, only me and one friend I knew would talk hours and hours of anime. Basically, no one would pay attention on our conversations. Sometimes, others would just butt right in and ask; "hey, what ya'll talking about?"

I said nothing and kept on walking. I would vision myself watching and hearing my favorite anime show; so that I wouldn't have to listen to other students making fun of me. They 'd think I'm deaf, but it works. I forgot about the names they called me; HA!!!!

I've been out of that school since last year; thank goodness. Now, I can finally dream.

I used to have pretty much the same problem *twitches* Everything i drew was "oooh thats pokemon" O_o!! I don't even watch pokemon!! But to the idiots that knew nothing about anime..it apparently was. I learnt to just ignore the jibes and insults and continue to mill around in my own little comforting world. Sometimes if that really didn't work i would resort to calling one of the bullies an idiot or some other random insult in japanese..they would look at me like i was crazy and eventually walk off *cackles* Plus it was nice to feel superior ^_^

But anyway, If these people continue to hassle you, i suggest you tell someone about it. Its not nice being picked on because you dont happen to conform to society..NORMALITY IS BORING!! *coughs* ahem.
Just be your own person, as you get older people will listen and respect you more if you follow yourself and not the herd of sheep around you. Believe me, it happened to me. When i stopped worrying what others thought and did things my way life was alot more interesting ^_^ *twitches* im ranting aren't i?

So yeah..just BE YOURSELF!! and who cares what those idiots think or say?..

Heres one little suggestion O_o..its probably stupid tho.
Find something with Yu-gi-oh on it then find a picture of whatever your drawing etc etc..and if someone says 'Ohh its Yu-gi-oh" or whatever they say, wave the pictures infront of the baka's face and say

"now..listen to me carefully..do i have your attention?..good. Now this is "yu-gi-oh" see it?..yes im sure you do. This is what I draw..do they even look remotely similar?..no..so oh my gosh, this must mean..what i draw. IS NOT YU-GI-OH!! isn't it just so shocking?"

and walk off *cackles* Im sure they'll be like @___@ *blink blink*
Heehee! If you do decide to do that, i wish i was there to witness it ^_^ id laugh until i was dead lol.

Many people in my school could be considered "snots" or "brats". They think they rule over the world, and look down on everyone but themselves and their friends. My little group of friends are Alena, Rachel, and me. Those idiots bug Rachel and me, saying we smell, so I say "Sickos!! Why are you smelling us!!??" and they get this wierd look on their faces and walk away. We just laugh our heads off. Alena is kinda quiet and shy, and keeps to herself. If someone bothers her, she just moves away. Another thing with Rach + I- people run away when they see us, so once in a while, we will sneak up on them and chase then into a corner and watch them cower in fear. Quite fun, I must say. (not to be mean, just to get payback.) Back to the subject- to me, it doesn't matter what a person looks like on the outside. Your personality is on the inside. *sniff* Touching, isn't it?
I need a buddy!! Be my buddy? PM me- [email protected]:confuse2: :)

I have thsi problem as well just not w/ anime.Poeple like to call me "witchcraft" or "gothic"(and I 'm not goth). They have been in this mind set for about the past 4 years. And their insults never change. So when they call me names I turn around and tell them to come up with some new material and try again later. Then I walk off leaving a stunded preppy standing there like an idot.
And the whole getting your panties in bunch about them calling you things just gives them a sense of satisfaction. They got to you and they'll just do it again and again. So just ignore them or show them up intalectually(sp? cant spell today).
And just remember we're all pink and squishy on the inside. All that really matters is how screwed up we are in the head.

Thanks, I'll try everything! Bishie I have that exact problem! I am going to college in three years to study comic art, and Fantasy oil paint. I love to draw real cool dragons, and they always are like, "YUGIOH!" or "POKEMON!" or whatever gayness their vomiting! Ugh..I mean, It takes alot to piss me off this bad. I respect everyone's rank in the school, wether they're popular, jocks, normal, or scurvy. An I am nice to anyone who doesn't talk to me or is nice to me. I'd rather not be spoken to at all! Except from my friends!
Thank you all so much!!!

Since you probably don't want to stop drawing. And these kids obviously have tiny little pez brains (that's what my friend and I called the stupid ppl in our AP Biology class) who can't be allowed to play outside by themselves. And they are obviously a few neurons short of a synaps as well, you should think of it this way.
Some day a few years down the road when these people are all flipping burgers at some McDonald's somewhere you may be sitting in some office somewhere drawing comic books and making all these other jokers eat their words about doing stupid crap to you and you can make them into villains who get killed off by the hero or heroine.
Hey I know it's a long shot, but it could happen. And don't worry, we're all here for ya.:)

I got into a fight today. In association to my School ***$holes post, I finally punched a guy who was pulling my hair and getting in my face. I think I broke his nose. But he also puntched me in the head. and smaked me and called me hurtful things. But I kicked him in the balls. I have a black eye and three days in-school detention. But he got suspended for 3 days because he hit a girl!!! .......my face hurts.

isn't that great?! It's the firse girl-boy fight seriously in Mid-Prairie history!

I hate it when people tease othe people for liking anime. It happens to me alot. Everytime I talk about an anime, it always have to me a"Pokeman" or "Yugoho" yeah, they even say the names wrong or make fun. However I never got into a fight as of yet.

You think that when you get to highschool that people will be more mature.

By the way, I`m glad you kicked butt Azure_Skies.

Violence is not the answer...o.o" Honestly, people like that are not worth getting in trouble over. Avoid them, trust me, it's possible to avoid anyone until a teacher is around. I've done it.

If they really start to bug you in class, then give them a history lesson on anime. That's what I did whenever someone would look over my shoulder and proclaim in a silly voice 'manga!' I actually got their attention. It became a big joke between my entire algebra class. I was known as 'manga.' Then again, I went to a school with nice people. *cough even if they were preps cough *

Avoid them, write a letter to the principal threatening to sue if he doesn't take action, there are billions of options. But fighting really isn't a good one.
