Artemis
anyone else a "Phantom" fan? I have the soundtrack and dream of actually seeing the musical... I love Micheal Crawford's voice! It's phenomenal!! I've heard they're finally making the movie (they've been talking about it for ages.) ~art~
amibasuki
lol, I've been getting somewhat into it lately. I couldn't get "Music of the Night" out of my head one night, so I ended up spending a good couple of hours looking up various sites on basically anything about the show (or the making of it), cuz I'm a nerd like that :cross:. it took awhile for me to get used to the phantom's voice, because I thought it sounded too weird. I wanted to beat my older sister over the head because she'd play MotN for hours on end. then after listening to it so much, it just grew on me, lol. I agree, he is a great singer, for all it took to get used to it :p. I'm hoping I get the soundtrack sometime soon. most of the stuff I've heard off of it I like a lot. I have to say, if they really are making a Phantom of the Opera movie, it'd better be good (and stick to the story!). I wanted to strangle something watching the Les Misérables movie.
Arcadia
Well, I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in New York and it was absolutely fantastic. The singing was beautiful - I have no idea how people can sing like that, but they do. Especially Christine.. that one note she hits during the song I can't remember is absolutely insane. I bought the soundtrack as soon as the production was over, but unfortunately that's back at home, where my sister hoards it like a greedy little dragon. There are a couple Phantom movies out already, if I'm not mistaken, and if I remember correctly one of them is a bit creative with the story. So head my warning ahead of time. But if you do ever get the chance to see it on stage, I beseech you to go watch it. It's worth every penny. Myself, I want to see the Lion King desperately. Just another one to strike off the list.
terra
I absolutely love the soundtrack and the songs for Phantom. The music of it is great. I didn't find the story particularly impressive, though, so I was actually really disappointed when I went to see it. Er, it was a long time ago so I forget why ... but it just didn't affect me as much as some of the other great Broadway plays do, like Les Mis or even Aida. And I thought the
chandelier falling
was kind of dumb, to be honest. Perhaps I'd been expecting too much. Incidentally, I saw Lion King (though not in New York, so probably not a good a version as the one there ... I forget where I watched it unfortunately, though I feel like it might be California). Similarly disappointing ... :p But still cool to watch.
SadClown
I saw it preformed in Toronto when I was 12 years old. I was a die-hard fan back then but haven't listened to it for ages upon ages. However, after reading this thread, my interests in it have been sparked once again...I think I might go track down my soundtrack!!!!
Artemis
Yeah... I've heard about several movies being out, but not on the musical. It was a book first, so the other movies are based on it. They've had a hard time getting the musical made into a movie b/c it's still so big. There have been a lot of diehard fans against it. However, the chances of me getting to see it performed are Death Valley low to zero. So, I personally, would love them to finally make the movie!! (I remember hearing about the movie possibilities as long ago as 6th or 7th grade...I'm a senior now.) Originally they were going to have Antonio Banderas sing the Phantom, but apparently now their having the guy from the 2nd Tomb Raider movie!?! I hope and pray and that I either heard wrong or that he's a hell of a good singer!! Oh, the song where Christine goes insanely high is the title song. It's awesome. I'd love to sing it for out school variety show, but right now, I'm having trouble hitting G's (and esp. A's!!) above the staff. I would have to sing the end of the song an octave lower. Hmm... *considers possibilities* Oh wait, I'd need a guy cool enough to sing the duet w/ me!! *scratches idea*
