It may be merely due to the colour fade difference, but the Reply button seems closer to the border than the New one... may be the different shades on the background though. The non OB text looks good, especially with what looks like the... pillow embossing. Very good, slight but... adds soemthing. A very sweet and cool idea. 8/10 Aesthetics and appeal. 5/10 technical. There's one pixel of space between the top/bottom of the buttons and the border, and two pixels on the side between the border. As for the text, I actually didn't do much with it. All I did was have a red gradient for the fill (using the shades from the section headers on the main page) and black for the stroke around the edges, with antialiasing turned on. Also, the "[font=century gothic]Otaku[b]Boards[/b][/font]" seems to want to be the focal point, but the bold, red text takes away from that against all that neutral value. It also makes OB come off kind of dull and boring. The mass amounts of grey tends to do that, and when I see the red it makes me think of Communism, lol. It is a good idea, though. [i]Cheers[/i] was a quality show. However, that warm, homely feeling does not seem to be conveyed in the banner. The only complaints I have is that I don't like the red, and agreeing with Mimmi, the font is a bit squished for the red letters. Other then those reasons, great job.
