Anime Anime Character Appearences?

I noticed when I started watching Anime that most Anime Characters do not appear to be Japanese. I just accepted it, and didn't think much of it after awhile. But one of friends, who I am trying to get to watch anime (all he watches is Naruto), asked out of curiousity why the charcters didn't look Japanese. I said I would find out, so here I am. If anyone has any insight, please help. Thanks.

It's just simply the way they do it, anime is a whole big part of their culture, it has alot of background to it. But just think, would it be the same if they didn't look like that? No, is a simple answer. I personally love the art and styles they use in anime. So really, they just take things from Western culture, fancey it up/reform it and... TADA!! I had wondered it for awhile, then I did some research and pretty much just found this out. If you want all the background, try using a search engine. Well I have to agree with Conna and Kyo.. but I also heard that many anime chareacters are big eyed due to the fact that they don't like the small eyes. It is siad they can't trust people with small eyes... My source may be a bit unreliable so dont take too much of that in heed. If I am right then, YAY I got something right!!![/COLOR]

Sweetreyes your probably right. This is especially expressed in Rurouni Kenshin. Note te bad guys have norrower and wideer eyes while good guys eyes are HUGE.
