Demon Diary [manga]

I just bought the first volume of Demon Diary, and I can't wait to read the next. The series is funny and cute, with loveable characters, stunning artwork, and too many positive attributes to list. I only wish that it was longer--hopefully the next volume will contain more material.

My mother is Korean, and since Demon Diary is a Korean manga, she's been translating the backround sound effects for me. I found it interesting that Korean manga doesn't read from right to left; I'm glad that Tokyopop didn't need to flip it, since the artwork is so lovely.

The only thing which worries me is that the plot of each volume seems to have been written by a different author. Can any of you comment on this?

Er..... yeah. In conclusion, Demon Diary rocks. It was pleasantly surprising that Eclipse turned out to be so nice--I was expecting him to be a rather Yuki-esque character. ^__^

Having read--and loved-- Demon Diary volumes 1-3, I can safely say that volume #1 is an exception in its dissapointing length, and that the two proceeding volumes don't include those random stories in the back. (The non-sequitur little segments were, admittedly, quite nice, but it took me the longest time to realize that they hadn't a thing to do with the manga. I'm a bit slow sometimes.)

The most frustrating thing about the series (so far) is that the shounen-ai content seems to be limited in the way that Yami no Matsuei's was (in the manga, at least). It's very vague and mostly hinted by the characters' reactions to each other, which I find frustrating to no end. I mean, when I start to get the feeling that Gundam Wing was being more explicit, it's not a good situation.

The first author was reputedly too busy with high school entrance exams, and had to leave work on the book. I'm not so sure about the second- I had thought that he/she did both 2 _and_ 3...? I'll have to check with my friend, whom I borrowed them from.

I love the interaction between Raenef and Eclipse- you can just tell that Raenef is bringing out all of the sweetness and compassion that Eclipse ever needed to hide, and Eclipse can't do very much about it at all, even if he would. _That_'s a cute realtionship.

EDIT: I suddenly realized what an awful lot I'd been ranting about this, and I'll apologise right here. Apparently the thought keeps repeatedly striking me and afterwards leaving no memory of itself. (Much like a bolt of lightning probably should.)

Yes..... yes, Eclipse and Raenef do make a cute couple. Such wonderful characters. I'd expect their relationship to get a little more intense, at least in later volumes. After all, Kara Lim is Korea's top shonen-ai artist.

Demon Diary consists of at least seven volumes; I'm not sure whether or not it's still running in Korea.

By the way, Kinoko, I love your avatar. ^__^

Aww! You really like my avatar? Thanks! I looked forever for it!

Yeah, I also think that Raenef and Eclipse's relationship will get more intense. Or at least I hope so. I like shonen-ai stories that are more intense than just hinting around the subject.
....Am I even making sense? Oh well.

What if I were to tell you that they aren't?
If I did, I'd be lying--they actually are separated for a good deal of Volume #2.
What's so bad about their possible separation, anyway? They _are_ better as a matched pair, I'll readily admit, but isn't the apropriate cliche here, 'distance makes the heart grow fonder'?

Demon Diary was released fairly recently, which is probably why you didn't hear of it until now. It has no corresponding anime series, and probably never will, as far as I'm aware. Anyway, the best places to find information on DD are Amazon.com (sadly enough) and Tokyopop's site--I haven't discovered a single Demon Diary shrine, despite my prodigious use of the all-mighty Google.

I just read the second volume, and I am so happy that I bought it. If anything, it's funnier and sweeter than the first--I especially loved learning
how Eclipse and Raenef first met
. Even the secondary characters, such as Erutis and Chris, are quite endearing. My favorite part was when
Eclipse yelled at Raenef for letting Chris tag along, and Erutis sat sulking in the corner, muttering, "If anyone needs me, I'll be here..."
Ah, how very amusing.

Yes, it always makes me laugh when Eclipse acts out of character. So cute. ^__^

I'm about to travel to Michigan, and I'm planning to visit the giant Borders store in Ann Arbor. So hopefully I'll be able to pick up the next few volumes while I'm there.

I've been searching for information on Demon Diary, but haven't been able to find much online. I assume that it's still ongoing in Korea--do any of you know for sure?
