Sign Up Lost In Space: Part 1

The year is 2419, Earth is in turmoil. While the human species is florishing with technolgy and science, wars with aliens, and the death of planet. is coming. All resources have been deplinished and civilizations on the two closest planets have been unsuccess ful. Mars, showed signs of completion, but after 50 years of self- sustaining, the planet reverted itself to the desert it was. Only a few miners stay there, digging the precious ore that lies beneath the surface. Living underground as well.
Venus, Earth's sister was thought to be our best chance. To Earths dismay, the terraforming and atmosphere transformation failed. The gases present there were more abundant than thought and there was barely enough materials left to clear it out completely. The people who were sent there to check the planet out, died and no one was set there again.
But to Earths delight a new planet has been found. And with over 2 centuries left till Earth's collapse it seems that all will be well in less than 100 years.[/I]

On Earth, in Geneva, there is a meeting going on about the possibility of saving the human species. How this it to be done, and where is now explained by one man, standing in a room full of reports, scientists and politicians from over the world.

"The planet is called Alpha Prime. Located about 10 light years away in a solar system much like ours it seems our best chance. Probes we sent out over 20 years ago send us pictures and analysis of this planet. It is to our joy, exactly identical to Earth. Oxygen and water are present as well as untapped mineral deposits that we have yet seen on our own planet. Many wild species have also been identified, but no sign of intelligent life has yet to be spotted.

Now how do we get there. By 2500, we will have a system, a gate to call it simply, that will instantanoue transport people from Earth to Alpha Prime. This gate system will be incorporated with our current jump systems, that will allow for the long distance travel."

"Excuse me Mr. Robinson," a tall dark haired reported calmly interupts the professor speech. " Why do we just not use the jump system as it is.

"Ah, good question," he steps from behind the banister and changes the hologram standing behind him.

"As you know our current jump system can be used for traveling within our own solar system, with great sucess, and we are expanding this system to work further than that as well. But for a distance of 10 light years, this is very much impossible. In order for the system to work you need coordintates. And the planets coordinates are easy to follow, due to us knowing how fast the revolve around the sun and so on.

We have yet to receive or learn this data about Alpha Prime so we can not just jump. Doing that, can drop us anywhere within the vicinity of 50 light years from where we jump, and if you really wanna get lost in space. You go right ahead."

A few laughs could be heard throughout the auditorium with that comment and Mr. Robinson smiled and continued.

"But as of now, we are going to send one family, cryogenically frozen, to Alpha Prime. Reaching our target in about 15 years. Upon reaching Alpha Prime, this family will send a signal for more to follow. When they reach Alpha Prime the second gate will be made. The first gate, as you know, is being built as we speak.

Construction of this gate will take only 10 years So thats 40, no more than 50 years that we will be able to test and sucessfully use our gate sytstem bring more and more people to settle on Alphe Prime.

And as some of you know, it will be my family that goes on this journey. We will research this planet as well as oversee construction of this project.

[I] He stepped down from the podium and allowed his boss to stand up. One family to go and help settle a new world.
As he finishes up his speech one cocky Alliance pilot is being used to transport this family and a family prepares for departure.[/I]

Pilot- cocky and good at his job, doesnt like the idea of being stuck on a babysitting mission 15 years away from home.

Villian- Setups the departure from Earth to fail, but winds up getting stuck in this mission as well.

Robot- Was programmed at first to destroy the mission but now serves the Robinson family diligently and willingly.
