It looks like Rebuild won't be the only new Eva-related animation coming along. They're also making Puchi Eva EVANGELION@SCHOOL, some kind of SD series. ANS has posted about it as well.

I like Neon Genesis it's one of my favorite animes. The ending of the series was a little confusing and took time to think on it. But the movie was one of the greatest anime movie.

The phrase "überm Sternenzelt richtet Gott, wie wir gerichtet" (which is superimposed over the new Seele logo) is actually a phrase from Schiller's Ode to Joy, made infamous by Beethoven. Quick ad hoc translation: "above the starry firmament, God judges as we judged." The connection of the apple and serpent imagery in this to Schiller's poem (it's worth reading) is actually pretty obvious, given that the whole thing is saturated in "rebirth" kinds of motifs.

On the other hand, I can't figure out what's going on with the NERV logo. The thing behind the leaf looks like an upside down apple with a big black slash run through it, but it's hard to tell. Anyone want to take a guess?

Hello everyone! NGE is my all-time favorite anime so I figured my first post should be here.

To stay on topic I feel that all the newly announced Eva stuff coming out is dissapointing. I guess Im somewhat of a purist, but I take the original TV series and Manga as the official bible of the property. I didnt care for either movie (D&R was just rehash and EOE answered too many of the questions that made the original TV ending so spectacular). That being said, I feel the original releases are too iconic and important in the histoy of Anime/Manga to be bastardized by further incarnations, variations and complte departures...

Anyways, I can only hope all these releases tun out good, but for the most part Im not optimistic.

but i have been hearing some new about the new movies the new movie has been given a name and it seems that the manga is back on track and will be released. I can't remember the name of the new eva movie but i don't think that the live action will be on it's way any time soon.

To be honest the idea of them being CG doesn't bother me much. I'm sucha fan that anything relating to eva is going to excite me, even somethinga as simple as this. I know alot of people were hoping for more, but I'd settle for almost anything at this point.

I've been out of the loop for so long that I fee like I'm playing catch up constantly and that I'll never get back up to date.

I hope those are the new logos they use for nerv and seele. I think they look good. And I wish nothing short of a slow painful death on who so ever dreamed up this chibi eva thing. It is an afront to all that is eva and eva is god in anime.

[FONT=Courier New]I watched the series and the two OAVs of Eva, it seems that it reflected about the futute life of Tokyo.

Unfortunately, what I hated most in the ending is what happened to the three pilots: Shinji, Rei, and Asuka. [spoiler]Reset the world form the very beginning.[/spoiler]

But if I reviewed this one, I give it 4 of 5 stars. It might be a great story to talked about!

I find Anime News Network's encyclopedia and Wikipedia tend to be the most reliable with anime names. (Assuming the anime has a page on Wikipedia.) If in doubt, check those two.

Just saw it for myself, and I'd say "Lookin' good" if Utada's rendition of Fly Me to the Moon wasn't so distractingly awful. They really should've 1) had her do a super-fast dance-beat version, which seems to be what she's best at, or 2) gotten someone like Chiaki Ishikawa or Lena Park to sing it.

[FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"]I get Newtype, and their commentary, though not the be-all-and-end-all, was pretty close, I'd say. SEELE. as you see, is a bit more orthodox (the apple is whole, the serpent is a warning or some-such). NERV apple is upside-down, though, an possibly bitten into, or opened. NERV is the one delving into the dangerous depths of Eva and the Angels (bitten), and (here is the shakiest conjecture), the orientation of the apple may represent NERV's, uh, [I]unorthodox[/I], methods.

I do not particularly care for Utada's rendition of "Fly me to the Moon" but I don't hate it quite as much as some of you do. (Speaking of, what versions did they use in the original Evangelion? (Not the edited version of the old, the old one) There is one version that I particularly like, and I haven't beeen able to find it yet. It isn't: Claire, Utada, or Megumi Hayashibara. It's not remixed with any kind of beat, and the singer (whose voice is the reason I like it), has a soft-ish voice (not like Megumi's), and who has a slight Japanese accent (sometimes it sounds more like "Fry me to the Moon" but I like it even more because of that.

And finally the logos. Both sets have their pros. Old SEELE: Very scary, very mysterious (I like the rainbow colour). New SEELE: Intelectual, possibly more suited to SEELE itsef, Schiller's quote. Old NERV: Catchy, good avatar, says a lot with a little. New: Intriguing symbolism, more insight and (if they leave it red and black instead of the white and black I saw), not [I]that[/I] different from the old. It even still has the fig leaf.

The Live action. My first reaction: ....why? Second: That'd be quite a novelty. Third: There's no way a real actor could ever be as cute as Rei. (I can't help it. Of all the anime girls in the world, Rei is the only one that I have even the slightest crush for. But you'll never catch me admiting that;). [/FONT]

Getting used to the florescent green plates might take some time, lol, but I'm loving everything about the Rebuild. Especially the streamlined looks of the characters, even though I'm still a fan of classic Eva style. [/font]
