The dub is meany tiems better just as long as you don't mind missing a few swear words. In the japanese version, all of the saiyans with the exception of Vegeta, sound like small girls. And that is in the Babadi Saga. So, yes it is atrocious.

Lucky me, here I got the original with no dubbing BUT with subtitle. Even though you're a first-timer watching anime, you thought it's okay with the dubbing. Has anyone here ever tried listening to the entirety of Gundam Wing without visuals? Hm, well, it's an experience. Duo's voice is a _perfect_ Northeastern accent...about 2 octaves too low for a 15-year-old. And the rest of the pilots just sound exactly like one another. It took me _so_ long to figure out whether Quatre and Trowa would be talking to each other, or themselves. (This is rather funny when you consider that there are several rather interesting scenes of one [spoiler]nearly dying to bring the other back from the point of insanity. You know, Kodak-moment things like that.[/spoiler]) And all of the fight scenes in Endless Waltz had me believing that WuFei was completley schizophrenic. Needless to say, the only one who ended up crazy after this dub seems to be me.

At least Quatre sounds vaguely male in the English dub. This is not the case in Japan.

Well i think it was done on purpose that Quatre sounded like a girl its cool tho casue his seiyuu is one of my faves..*she does tohma seguchi *gravitation*who looks awfully familiar^__^* the japanese voices do use a lot of female seiyuus as voices for feminine or young boys..there was one i thought that wasnt donr too well was the Japnese voice of Kenshin from RK i dunno i alwasy thoguht that he needed a deeper voice and this was before i saw the dub too. yes the GW dub is really ...interesting...15yr olds do not sound like any of the VAs

Why is it that male characters are cast with such voices? I know my ignorance is appalling, but I'm having trouble believeing that the ideal adolescent male voice is about a full octave higher than my own.

I think Kurama had a female seiyuu in the Japanese version of YYH as well... As if he weren't confusing enough.

I actually [i]love[/i] it when voice actresses play male roles. Maybe it's just one of Dagger's many fetishes (like referring to herself in the third person.... ^_~)

Kurama's seiyuu (Ogata Megumi) sounds convincingly male, although you might not want to take my word for it. Either way, there's something about the sound of a female voice that I find rather irresistible.

The director of YYH specifically requested that Kurama be voiced by a woman; I think he believed that Ms. Ogata was capable of bringing a certain softness and subtlety to the role which an otherwise talented male might not have been able to.
