Chibi Devil Me
What makes a good Anime, you ask? In my opinion, it has to at least have good character designs, good music (not all the time), and... *drumroll* ... AN UNDERSTANDABLE PLOT! Phew! I don't understand FLCL, but it's an exception. It has cool music! I don't really like animes that seem to be slapped together like a hamburger from Sloppy World. *shudders* Ewies... Also, it should have a tolerable amount of episodes. Trigun is an exception of this. That's all, in my opinion. Glad I got that "plot" part off my chest. Phew! Hevn
My favorite anime should have... Interesting and original concept and story but it must not be too long or too short. I like those having their own worlds, including customs, architectural design and fashion styles. Well developed types of characters/races, each having their own distinctiveness in personality. Superb and consistent animation, design, and effects because I love  animations. A little bit of humor with punch lines, romance in between, drama that will touch my heart but won't make me cry, and action...lots of `em. Adventures, adventures, adventures! ...and yeah don't forget a good musical score! Animes: Top 1 would be Final Fantasy for animation, characters, story, score, world, and adventure. Top 2 would be Ruruoni Kenhin for characters, story, drama, and score. Top 3 would be YuYu Hakusho for characters, story, action, humor, adventure, and score ...that should be enough.

Sarangeyo
A good anime? For myself, I like animes with personality. Characters that draw you in, a decent storyline, and a unique world. But then, that's just me. I have a thing for fantasy and situations that I am not very familiar with. Weird. I love animes that have characters that I get so attached to, that if someone killed them off, I'd cry. But overall, a balanced mix of romance, adventure, drama, action, etc is good. Okita
What makes a good anime? ...Hayao Miyazaki.... ...or rather a successful anime, Seriously a good Anime is like one's favourite food, you can't please everyone. However I must say that the most important aspect is the plot and character, get a sympathetic character and decent plot and I'll sit through the worst animation and sound or even dubbed voice! Guest princessookumae
What makes good anime.... 1. Well developed characters (Major and Minor) example Trigun, we come to learn more and more about the Major characters as the show progresses but the Minor characters we learn their life story within one show and personally I think that is awesome ;) 2. The storyline must stay flowing through each episode and not take us on little side shows for the mere fact that it can be done. 3. Action :smirk: No one likes just the same old thing happening over and over, so adding a bit of action here and there and there and here helps greatly. Which action then leads to BLOOD  Which blood has been a fascination of man for ages... :babble: .... I think that is why so many people loved to go see the Gladiator fights because we want to see blood, pain, and such.... 4. Romance  every great story needs some form of romance so to appeal to a wide audience and you know you need a reason to fight, for love is one of the more greater reasons...example when Yuske fights it is mainly to save and ensure the future for the ones he loves (ie the whole reason he started the Dark Tournement) 5. Quoteable Lines :D sure we can watch a show just for the action and romance but without great quoteable lines what is the use of having the volume up? seriously do we want to hear more "Your squishing my milkshake" or "Your a team player....a save the day superhero...I hate guys like you" :smirk: Those are just some things that I know make a great anime show. Oh and of course... 6. You need to have voice actors with sexy voices  sure there are people out there who love to watch the strongbad emails myself included but I don't think I could listen or watch them all day because sometimes the voice acting on there is just plain awful...example of a great dubbed voice actor Chuck Huber (not sure I spelled the last name right) the voice of Hiei on Yu Yu Hakusho or Lex Lang voice of Sano on Rorouni Kenshin, I would watch any show to hear their smooth voice come through my television and make my ears stimulated.... ....yes....voice actors with lovely smooth voices are a must for anime :smirk:  :tasty:  :tasty:  :smirk:

I hate to say it, but this really needs some improvement. Spelling and punctuation are a must-have when you're communicating in writing. Shiro_Ryuu
In order for an anime to be really great, it must have a good storyline, characters that are interesting, and have some attractive looking female characters. I wouldn't mind if the plot is too morbid, but I like it if there is some humor as well. I would like if the character design and artwork is good but that is something that is more opinionated. It does not have to be realistic but should not be ridiculous like DBZ.
