Guest Teammayhem
I have started a petition at petitiononline.com to get Cowboy Bebop: The Movie eligible as an Oscar-nominee. Currently, it is unable to be a nominee (or considered to be a nominee) due to the release date in Japan (September 2002). This is unfair because the movie required extra time to be redubbed in English. Please, pass on the news. Forward this message. Post this link in your websites. Make this petition known! G/S/B Master
You could've simply edit the last post, and no offense, but to get it nomineed, it has to be sponsered by some stupid american company such as Disney. It may be unfair, but this petition will go nowhere. Edit: any mod want to take my post away? I was about to play mod >_<.
Guest Teammayhem
G/S/B Master: Cowboy Bebop: The Movie was released in America by Columbia/Tristar. They gave up summiting the movie to the Academy due to the rules. It is unfair, but we should voice our opinion, and I'm giving a shot at this to see if our voices can be heard. Later today, I'm going to fax and email the Academy to notify them of the petition, as well as other outlets (Websites, Press, Columbia/Tristar). And by the way, I'm a Message Board newbie (I'll admit it, okay?) I didn't know at the time I could of edited it. Special Thanks to shy for reopening the thread! Extra note 12-11: According to some information I have received (Thanks to JazzMess.com) Cowboy Bebop was not released a year later because of dubbing, but of political issue. Allow me to explain before sending us mad emails. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie was released a year later because of its terrorism themes. Columbia/Tristar (The people who released the movie) thought people would get offended because of 9-11. This little tidbit, however, should not derail us from what we believe in. Cowboy Bebop should be considered in the least even if it was the fault of the studio. Please, spread the word.
