Fyxe
I'm sure all of you celebrate a holiday some time this season. So share what your holiday is, your traditions, memories of those past holidays, and perhaps even your wish list! I'm interested in knowing what you all do for the holidays, so share the good times! ^_^ For me, yes, I celebrate Christmas. Which is in eleven or so days from now. I love Christmas, not just for the gifts, but for family, large meals and the beauty or the snow and decorations. Sure, gifts are nice, but Christmas is to bring family together and remember the birth of Christ. This Christmas I get to be with my father, who I barely ever get to see along with my little brother. Our traditions are that we always put up the tree, make cookies and other sweets, decorate everywhere.... and you can never forget the big Christmas day snow ball fight! Of course only the kids do the snow ball fight, but it's always fun, no matter how old I am. We always go snowboarding too on Christmas day and then we have a big feast of a lunch! ^^ Some memories I have are when: The most recent one was when I was snowboarding with my friends and I got to the one hill. It ended up that the hill ended in a huge drop. There was snow covering the cliff like drop, so I thought it was still the hill. The I got to the snow covering it... and I dropped right thought the snow. I couldn't get out for awhile, my friends had to dig me out! Lol. ^^;; It wasn't funny at the time, but it is now. Another is when my first cat that we just got was having his first Christmas. Well, once he saw the tree.... he went flying throught the air are did a weird pounce/clutch thing to the tree. You see, it was a rather small tree, so it fell over with Chester on it! LOL! That was so funny, I still remember it clear as day. Another is when I was at my aunts house for Christmas, I was about six or seven. Well, my uncle was dressed as Santa Clause... and he actually came down the chimney. ^^;; It was rather strange. But my little cousins where delighted. Heh, he had a big sack and gave us each a present. Later when my uncle came back without the suit, he was covered in soot. It's was pretty funny. So, does anyone else have anything to share about their holidays? Happy Holiday!! ^^ --Conna--
ChibiHorsewoman
Funny you should mention this. My family just went and cut down our tree today. I think we spent 1/4 of an hour picking out the tree and 3/4 of an hour making sure the tree was straight when we put it up. As far as traditions go. My dad's family usually gets together on Christmas Eve. Someone's house always gets turned into a zoo because there's 7 kids in his family plus all their kids and some of their kids have kids. Other kids are either married (me) or dating someone steadily. We have a buffet style dinner then attempt to have some organization doing the grab bag gifts. Sometimes it goes well. other times it's mass chaos. It's usually enjoyable tho. Christmas Day we open presents in the morning (we never have a set time to go to Church) the go over to my mom's parent's in the afternoon. We have a sit down dinner there and everything is more under control since there's less people to worry about. Last year I was down in Texas with Lincoln. CHristmas Eve we called my dad's family and talked to everyone. Then we picked up some Eggnog at the Diamond Shamrock and went over to our friend's house to watch It's a Wonderful Life. Christmas Day we called my parent's put them on speaker phone then open our presents 'together' half a continent away while listening to Christmas music. Then we went to another friend's house for dinner. Holidays are about family to me. Even if some of the family gets on the other parts nerves or doesn't practice the same religion. MERRY WHATEVER
outlawstar69
Meh... I'm not christain, so I don't celebrate christmas. In Islam you're not supposed to celebrate anything not already put down as a holiday before (I think this means religious holidays, so that the religion doesn't get changed or anything). We recently finished Ramadan, which is a month long time of fasting during daylight hours. Eid Al-Fitr was right after that (to celebrate Ramadan being over, I think). So right now everyone around me is celebrating christmas, or gearing up for it. I'm kinda feeling left out, but only because we don't live near any muslim communities to celebrate the holidays we have with them. But I have fun with my family during those times at any rate. Amity
For the holidays huh? I love Christmas, but this year I had to buy the presents since mum died. It was easy though. I can't mention what I got her because she'll just see. **Ahem** Yes anyways, we're going to my aunt Hiroaki's house in the US for Christmas!!! I love my aunt!!! We're going to stay there until January third, then we're going back to Yokohama. While we're in the US I'm going places. I'm going to see people I talk to on the net and wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year's!!!!! And to all that reads this post, HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM AMITY!!!!!!! Fall
Last Christmas, wasn't a very happy one for me. Two weeks before December 25, I was kicked out of the house, though half of that was my fault. I was back by Christmas Eve, though it took a while to get back to normal. Anyway, that memory has stuck with me ever since, and whenever I am fighting, arguing, whatever, with my mum and dad, I just have to think of that and I'll stop right away. It was alright, as in, I liked it, the lifestyle, of being on my own, though I now know how much a actually do need my parents. That's the most vivid image I have of Christmas. Yeah, not a happy one, but I can't help that. All my happy ones are... winning the footy grand final... or going for a ride down the street... yeah... I can't say I have a happy memory of Christmas that's worth mentioning.
Kanariya
Yes, Happy Holidays Amity! :D Since this holiday is coming up, I want to say New Year's. For New Year's, I always go to my old friend's house. (Old meaning by been friends since little kids, been friends for long time.) We usually eat mexican food (hey, I have no idea why) and I remember eating a ham sandwich. I wouldn't count down, I would just eat. After the countdown, I would play video games, and eventually at 1:00 A.M. I would go to sleep. I have a lot of fun on New Year's Day and Eve, but what I didn't like was the fact my mother got me a Mary-Kate and Ashley video tape. :butthead: Now you know how I feel about that. I can't wait for it too, I always enjoy it. I love having parties with friends.

My husband is another case, he celebrates Yule, which is held on the Winter Solstice-the longest night of the year. I don't know much else about it except it celebrates the rebirth of the Horned one coming back into the world. Out of curiosity, what are Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr about?
Swordsaint
( Jolly music playing in the background) I wish you a merry Christmas, I wish you a merry Christmas, I wish you a merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Anyhow, yes celebrate christmas, though I don't follow any of the religions, cept my own. Me and my family usually wake up early in the morning, and open our presents together, then we go to my grandmas house for the feast! That would be the best part there, all my family, and like chibihorsewoman it's a darn big family, having a good time. I WISH YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS. and those of you that follow other religions, HAVE A HAPPY SEASON!
Milo
I just recently moved in with my friend's parents and their celebrations are a lot more normal than my family's. Except I've noticed one thing that many American families seem to have in common...they ALWAYS fight on/around Christmas! What is up with that? It's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year and all that warm, fuzzy crap. Oh, well. I try and take it easy during the Yuletide season. Be nice to people. Don't want any bad Karma, y'know. I feel your pain, Fall. Parents can be truly evil.
Heaven's Cloud
Growing up we used to have a pretty family oriented Christmas. We would wake up Christmas morning and open our presents. After a light breakfast, we would make our way to my Grandparent?s house on my father?s side for brunch. All of my aunts and uncles and cousins from my father?s side would come and we?d exchange gifts, play football, and eat an incredible brunch (my Grandpa bakes the best rolls!). At three or so we?d leave and head over to my other Grandparents and repeat the process for dinner. Usually most of my dad?s family would wonder over at some point or another, and my Grandparent?s brothers and sisters would come. There was always a full house and, one year we had five generations at my Grandparents, looking back it was really cool. Unfortunately, all of the family has gradually moved away from the Washington DC area, so large family gatherings are reserved for weddings and funerals. They are fond memories though, hopefully memories that I can recreate for my kids (when I have them :)).
