Question of Morality...?

Well, here's my question: I'm in the process of writing a Grand Theft Auto fanfic. The problem is that there's some course language, and (as is usual with GTA), lots of violence. So, I was wondering if I would still be able to post it in the Poetry, Fanfiction, and Literature thread due to the graphic content. I wouldn't want to offend anybody, nor would I like to break the rules.

Due to the recent rules change regarding the Poetry, Fan Fiction and Literature forum, course language is no longer censored, and is therefore allowed, but with care. It would be against the rules to just put it in for the heck of it (i.e. every other word being profane) but if it's used tastefully in writing, it's pretty much okay. The use of graphic content is pretty much the same.

You may want to put a content warning in the title of your post and at the beginning of your post to play it safe, however.

As far as the content warning, I was going to do that, but as far as language... Well, I'm using it pretty sparsely, but I'm using it only to show the overall grittiness of the characters (it's from a first-person perspective, so it's basically for the grittiness of the main character).

Lady Katana pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

We do allow people to use coarse language in their fan fiction and RPGs, but, we do ask that it is done with great care and responsibility.

Unfortunately, there are a few RPGs operating at the moment that seem to have popped up just to take advantage of the lack of censor software.

So, not everyone is taking this request to heart, unfortunately.

Of course you can post it, and the censors in those forums won't block it. You just need to put in brackets, in the thread title, that it has coarse language. Something like, "GTA Fan Fic [Mature]" or something. Then it's taken care of.

I wouldn't say you may want to put this warning in the thread title, I'd say you should, and probably have to. James mentioned it was important to do it--so I'm going to force the little Poemites and Literaturites to do it. :)
