Why don't locked posts get deleted?

Why don't locked(or closed threads) get deleted? Because, if they were, this would save users browsing forums time, I mean like, if you were browsing through a forum and you saw this thread and you clicked onto it to see what it was, to only find out that it is a closed thread. Now, if this happened, and you were on a computer that you share with other people and you only have a certain amount of time to be on it, you would have wasted a few minutes time, looking at a closed thread, that you would not be able to post on. Plus, these closed threads will just get in the way while users are trying to find an interesting forum thread to post on and come across a closed thread. I can not think of any other way to explain it. I just feel that keeping closed threads on the forums boards will get in the way.

Then perhaps it's a wise idea to pay attention to the side where the padlock is, save yo some time? :p

The locked threads set an example to users about what is allowed and whats not, it also helps to add clarity to the rules if there is a tangeble example within the forums.

But, personally, I think there are way too many 'examples' and should be cut back a few, did we need all of that sonic guy's threads?

Oh, I made this graphic for the otakuboards, it's a little clearer to see. The locked thread icon, winXP styles :smirk:

Because... then some idiot will repost his lame thread thinking it disappeared. Or people won't be able to find out why it was closed. Unless you are blind, the padlocks are very easy to see. It isn't thathard. It isn't our problem. The current system has worked for ages. And it isn't exactly like they're cluttering up whole pages. Geez. Don't be so petty.

Eh. To be concise- there isn't a problem.

There's no need to be rude; dark_dragongurl's comments are legitimate. I can understand her complaint.

Basically, dark_dragongurl, we tend not to delete all closed threads because the person who closes them often provides a reason for their closure. This way, anyone can see why the thread was closed, so that the same mistake isn't repeated.

Having said that, some threads are deleted right away. It really comes down to what the Moderator in question decides to do.

So, my advice would be to take a look at the icon next to the forum link, to see if it's closed or open. That's really the best way to avoid wasting any time in the forums. At the moment, it's really the best we can offer.

Well, allright. I really kind of figured that they were there as an example to people of what not to do, before I posted this thread topic, I just needed some clarification(wait, is that the right word?). But, *looks to see who said something about too many examples* I do agree with Shinji Ikari, they're are a little too many "examples", but the I will also agree that it really is up to the mod whether or not these "examples" get deleted or not.

This may be out of place, But I think that these closed threads should all be put in a clarification forum, A closed forum, That only shows examples of rule breaking things, That would Specify it. Because some closed threads are closed for reasons that don't specifically intell rule breakadge, These could be deleted, Also, It should be mandatory for newcomers to see the rules page, Mods should not have to tell people to read the rules, It waists time and Space.
