Guest lavalamp
Yes, I do listen to Japanese music, but I don't make an identity out of it like so many people tend to do. I can't stand "favorites" because I like a lot. What were your favorite releases for the year? moi | Nakashima Mika - "LOVE" Yaida Hitomi - "Air/Cook/Sky" B'z - "BIG MACHINE" Porno Graffitti - "ai ga yobu hou he" OLIVIA - "Merry & Hell Go Round"
wrist cutter
Originally posted by lava lamp Porno Graffitti - "ai ga yobu hou he"
Of their four singles after WORLDILLIA, that was my least favorite. It was still great, but I liked the other three more. My favorite releases this year: Porno Graffitti - MELISSA BUCK-TICK - zangai GLAY - BEAUTIFUL DREAMER/STREET LIFE S.O.A.P. - GRACE ("gimme A guitar" was good too) Every Little Thing - Many Pieces SURFACE - I'M FINE THANK YOU AND YOU? Oukan05
I like J-Pop music; I only know at least three bands and one song.

Duel Druel- This J-Pop band came to a convention I went. They were great; I enjoyed their concert.
Move- On a Labor Day weekend, it was the first time I've heard their song; and THEY ROCK!!! I could just dance and jump all night long.
V6= "Change the world"- I only have their single cd; they're the ones who sing the opening theme of Inuyasha in the first season. I just love that song. I hope they can do a concert soon.
After listening and watching these bands perform, I was really fond to finding more songs just like these. I think they're combined with both J-Pop and J-Rock. I love this music!!!:D :D :D

duorocks17
I love Every Little Thing! They are such an awesome group. My favorite song would have to be "Feel My Heart". Every time i hear it it makes me want to get up and dance. Every song that i have of there's is very good. I also like V6, they are a cool group too. They have done other songs that are just as good as "Change the World". BoA is another good group. They have lots of good songs like "Every Heart" and "Jewel Song". And you can't forget about Ayumi Hamasaki!!

Only in recent years has she expanded out of the Korean market and produced Japanese music as well.

Tog
I pretty much only listen to Japanese music. Don't bother asking why, though. Actually, I was listening to Gackt when I stumbled upon this topic (still am!). Anway, in no order, my favorite groups are: Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, Eve of Destiny, BLOOD, Gackt (shudder), and Klaha (he's just so darn cute! "I wish I get a wing, can fly in the sky"). I was so dissapointed when I heard Schwarz Stein... they're just not as good as I had hoped. And for some reason Dir en Grey just didn't have that certain something I was hoping for. I guess I have high standards (even though I like Klaha's solo work...). Also, Do As Infinity is ok, I guess.
Waterflash
Yay! I listen to so much J-POP and J-ROCK. My favorite J-POP artists are Do As Infinity, Dream, BoA (More Korean though...), Ayumi Hamasaki, and Kuraki Mai. I absolutely love almost all of Do As Infinity's music. My favorite songs by Dream are Yourself and My Will. I love every song by BoA, especially that one with her and Palm Holiday. That one was good! Ayumi Hamasaki's Dearest is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard... And I love to listen to Winter Bells and Like a Shining Star by Kuraki Mai. I kept singing Winter Bells all during the holidays... I have no idea if it's about winter though... XD Oh yes! I forgot! I love the song Because I'm a Girl by Kiss. I cried so hard when I watched the music video... *bawls* It was soooooooo sad!!!!! And I only like one J-ROCK artist. GACKT! *drools and faints* Vanilla is a personal favorite. Transtic Nerve
Too many people like Gackt.... albeit his music is very good, I don't own every album of his for no reason, but I must admit the obsession over him is alot now-a-days.... I've dropped my obsession of him in the recent months... I don't keep up with many Japanese artists anymore, just the ones I really enjoy... Gackt, Dir en grey, and move for the most part (I have every album released by all 3 artists/groups, it's more a collecting thing than anything)... I do try to keep track of Porno Graffitti, PENICILLIN, L'Arc~en~Ciel, and globe, but they aren't top priorities. I still have kept all my Japanese music over the... 4 years I've been listening to it. And I still listen to them on a pretty regular basis, depending on me mood of the day. But my complete interest in ALL J-Music has faded, as with much other music, it's simply too much to keep track of. Plus Wrist Cutter keeps me informed on anything important. So Yay for him! So hi to HAKUEI! I I I I V
No
Hey Tog I have something to tell you about Dir en Grey. It just really depends on which album you have heard or not. Becuase each of their albums have a different -type- of sound. I have the Gauze album (it's bootlegged! DAMN YOU EVERANIME!) and their newest Vulgar album. And I was blown away by how different they sounded on Vulgar than what I was used to on Gauze. But anyways. ^^ I absolutly love Ayumi Hamasaki. Just her newest ablum makes up for how short it is. I love all of the songs on the Memorial Album. And I love the song "I am..." Its really pretty. And my banner and avi is Ayumi. ^^ Gackt just has a voice that I love to hear. But when he was in Malice Mizer, was that him singing "Shiroi" or was it Klaha? Becuase whoever sang that song, was god! Now me and TerraFlame are sad becuase Due le Quartz spllit up as some of you know. I loved them alot. Especially "rodeo" Luna sea, "Kiss" & "Feel" Weiß Kreuz (Koyasu Takehito, Miki Shin'ichiro, Seki Tomokazu, Hiro Yuuki) - They all have their own version of "Epitaph" And there is a version where they all sing it together. ^.^ Miki And Koyasu have great voices. Well...enough rambling for me. ^.^

It clearly doesn't matter that much since you can't tell them apart. But anyway, there's no song called "shiroi". I think you're thinking of "shiroi hada ni kuruu ai to kanashimi no rondo", which was sung by Klaha. And Due le quartz has been gone for over a year now. That's old news.
Gackt and Klaha have distinctly different voices, but they CAN sound very similar at times. I used to have trouble telling them apart, too. (Though, he does sound pretty Klaha-ful in Shiroi. XD) Erm, the majority of people I know that like Malice Mizer just call it Shiroi. Heck, even the mp3 I downloaded of it a good while back is just plain labeled Shiroi. Not a big problem there. -_- And yeah, Due'le quartz have been gone over a year now. Though, I am still sad about it. T_T (Darn you Kikasa for being one of the reasons of DLQ's breakup! And darn you more for joining Shelly Trip Realize! Sure, they're ok... but, you can do better! *shakes fist* XPPP) Elitist's need to stop showing off their so-called "l337-ness". XP Erm, yea. I like Plastic Tree, Dir en grey, Vidoll, Nightmare, Miyavi, Kagrra, Kagerou, DOREMIdan, Gullet, deadman, Merry, AURORA, Jinkaku Radio, +D'espairsRay+, Pierrot, EllDorado, Malice Mizer, Gackt, Due'le quartz, etc, etc. Lists are boring, especially when I've gone through the same routine with em over and over again, so I only listed a few bands cuz I'm lazy. -_-

No
I can remember long japanese titles. And I have just realized that the title for "shiroi" was indeed longer when I looked up the lyrics for it and I'm sorry that I mislead anyone. And TeRRaFLaMe...you know too many J-rock bands and don't share with me. And indeed the reasons for DLQ's break up was sad. Aand go figure for me I end up liking a band that breaks up. Oh well. I still love the "Rodeo" PV. And in addition to Sweet Pie. I love "Becase of you" by Ayumi Hamasaki and haven't gotten to watch the PV yet. I wish i could but it's on my friends comp and I can't go over there for about 2 weeks. *sighs* I wonder...is that all for now-- WAIT! I wish I could really tell between Gackt and Klaha. And I still question and havent found out exactly WHY Gackt left Malice Mizer. Someone help!
TeRRaFLaMe
I dunno if anyone knows why Gackt left Malice Mizer. Tons of rumors have gone around, especially a strange one I read a while back about money and fans and stuff. Who knows. It's one of the world's great mysteries, like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie-roll pop. x_X
No
I do wonder how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-roll pop, as well. I guess we will all never know for sure. Some scientists need to figure this stuff out so the public will know for sure.
