Art Subaru banner

[size=1][color=darkblue]Well, I was watching .Hack//Sign last night and I thought, Subaru is an awsome character. So I decided to make a banner of her. I made it this morning, I hope you like it. If you look close enough, you can tell I did some interesting things with the background. If anyone can tell anyway. ^^;;
So here it is! Please rate and comment. I also love to hear suggestions! Plus I made an avatar to go with it, you will be able to see it when I post.

Conna, I [i]love[/i] this banner. It's the best I've seen from you to date. Your cropping is excellent, and the stock image is crisp and richly colored. The faded numbers make it seem as though the background has the texture of aged parchment. I especially like how you used a simple cross to draw the viewer's attention towards the ".Hack//SIGN" text, which also looks great.

Wonderful work--your banner is neither overly simple nor overly complicated, but instead strikes a perfect balance between the two extremes.

It might be nice if you added a soft, pale edge to the inside of the banner's border (much like the gentle glow that surrounds the arms of the cross).

I pretty much concur with all that Dagger said. However, two little improvements/gripes I have in mind. I think the border is fine as is. However, on the left with the stock there, it looks so crisp, whereas on the right with the light glow in the background... it doesn't look so good. I think you should leave the glow on the cross, but remove any extraneous glow in the background. That way it has a solid colour base for the black border. It just doesn't look right when you have the black border and dark blue hair on one side, but have the border, and the creamy overlay on the darkblue. Or thats how I feel about it.

Section two: The Text. I think a better font could have been found, for sure. Too plain. It doesn't do the banner justice.

Overall, good work.

I agree completely Baron. Teh text does not do justice to the banner at all. And what a lovely banner it is! I really like the picture you used. It is crisp and very, very well cropped. I also like the background that is [I]behind[/I] the letters and numbers. I do agree with Baron that the glow around everything but the cross should go. It all makes for a really pretty banner. Well, it doesn't matter if you cropped it or not, it's still a great banner. I love the gold trimming around the crossed bars and the picture is great (cropped or not).

This just a pet peeve of mine, but I think the border should be thin, not thick, and for some reason that always bothers me. I also suggest a quote to go on there... maybe a quote from the show, one of Subaru's words of wisedom, i wouldn't know any though being the old Crim fan that I am.

But, I truely think the banner is awesome. Nice font, nice BG, and nice pic. Of course, I don't know too much about the quality of banners ;)

The image is very clear, and seems realistic. The font is right for the banner, and the background is great.

[size=1]This is definately a great banner. The background is unique (very nice effect) and the stock image is perfect. The pose and angle fit very well with the background and they complement each other greatly. Although the outer hair area looks a little blurry (I'm assuming that's because you erased the background). Next time try using the magic wand tool and using a very small eraser to get the leftover bits and pieces.

I also would like to see a better text with the banner. The current font doesn't bring it justice.

:Claps: This has [i]got[/i] to be the best banner you've made so far. The cropping was really well done. The background is really neat, and unique, which I really like. I like the two perpindicular lines, at the right side of the banner, the White Outer Glow was also I nice touch to those lines.

[color=midnightblue]Yes, everyone here is correct, this is one of the best banners I've seen in a while, from most members. It really caught my eye from the moment I opened this thread. You cropped the image of Subaru extremely well, though I [i]do[/i] think I spot a little bit of everyone's favorite banner shortcut: you kind of blurred or highlighted parts of her hair in some of the choppier parts. :p Maybe you didn't do it for that reason, but from my experience that's why people do that. Either way, you can barely notice it and it is a well-fitting effect.

Yeah, I think the font could be a little better. Perhaps you should make "Sign" bold and then put it in all caps, so it's more like the official logo. Or maybe you could try putting in the real .hack logo. There's screens of it from the .hack//SIGN opening all over the internet. And, more than anything else about the text, make the . more of a hexagon. It's what seemed the most "off" to me.

I really do like what you did with the binary code in the background. I've seen it attempted many times (Mostly in Matrix banners), but rarely quite this well.
