Sunny Day Real Estate

I really hope I'm not the only person on OB that likes this band. Because then, this thread would fail miserably, much like the other threads I make about my favourite bands.

Anyway, Sunny Day Real Estate, is a band that started in the early 90's released four full-lenth albums, then broke-up in 2000 (or, 2001). I find SDRE to be amazing, in all their many sounds. This band has quite a bit more history than that, but I'm not going to waste my time typing all the biography crap out, when no one cares. So until someone asks me to tell them more of this bands history, I'm not going to.

So, if anyone is a fan of this band, I would appreciate response. You can talk about which album you liked the most. What you think of their lyrics. What you think of SDRE's new incarnation as, The Fire Theft. And, Jeremy Enigk's amazingly high vocals. So basically if you haven't figured it out, just talk about this band, I would really appreciate that.

My girlfriend listens to them. She seems to listen to a lot of the groups you name here, although I can't really post in every thread and just be like "I know nothing about them, but she likes them!" heh.

That said, I'm sure I'll be subjected to them at some point... Happens with all her other stuff.

LOL!

I'm actually suprised that you haven't heard them before. You're like the "resident music god" of otaku boards. And during their time SDRE was quite popular, but I guess they really didn't maintain their "mainstream" popularity, that long after they broke up.
Anyway, I think that you may like this band. Although, you have said that you aren't to much of an "emo" fan, and this band is considered by many to be the Godfather of the emo genre. Still they do remain different than the multitude of "emo" bands they inspired, and in my opinion have yet to be topped by any of them.

Unlike many of the bands usually tlk about, SDRE has a very mellow side to their music. That isn't to say that they don't also have a hard side to them to. In fact, (almost) each album is very different. So I do highly recomend them.

I saw them live a while back and it was pretty great, I've got two albums but really I think their first was their best. His voice got a little weirder later on, but I like it.

Sorry but this post will probably fail miserably...young crowd.
