Fyxe
Yes! Edward Scissor Hands! I'm sure many of you have seen this movie, what has it been... fourteen years since it came out? Well, recently, my sister had perchased the DVD. It was the first time the both of us had seen it. My sister had been hearing many good things about it and people kept telling her to see it. So she found it at the store and bought it. Well, I personally, loved this movie. At first I didn't realize Edward was Johnny Depp untill my sister told me. Lol. But it was just one of those "cute" and funny movies. It may have been a little strange, but just another reason why it was enjoyable. The storyline was good, maybe sometime I'll try and pick up the book. I loved the expressions on his face when he was eating peas! That images never leaves my head. Lol. Alot of times you just had to think "Poor Edward!" I know I caught myself thinking that alot. So, what did you think of Edward Scissor Hands?
Semjaza
Edward Scissorhands is my second favorite movie ever made. I love it for so many reasons. Burton's directing was simply awesome in it. The use of color, timed events and so forth really add to its impact. The music by Elfman is among some of his most memorable too. They use several of the songs from this film in commercials around the holidays all the time. All of the important actors in this film were excellent. Winona and Deep in particular... although obviously Depp even more so. Depp is, in my opinion, the best actor there currently is. He doesn't even need to speak in this movie to give a better performance than most any actor I can think of. He's just amazing. I think I have a non-sexual crush on him (and David Bowie heh). This movie always gets to me a little bit too. The ending is really heartfelt I think, although in a simple way. The idea that
Edward gives off this feeling of finally being complete when she tells him she loves him. Like all of the hardships he went through in his life finally made sense, if only because they led him to this conclusion.
I really, really love this movie. Guest TheFameof_Dying
OMG!!!! I love Edward Scissor Hands! It is second onl to "The Labrynth" wich is THE best movie ever(but I swaer as you progress through the movie David Bowies crotch just gets bigger and bigger!) I love how innocent Edward was. And the movie's concept was very different for its time, Tim burton was on a winning streak in the 90's! I would have to say my favorite charactor is definetly Edward, But for second, it's a close tie between the avon lady and Vincent Price.

krippled master
Eddy Scissorz is the man. He was always trying to do regular people stuff with his scissor hands. I was like, "Eddy Scizzorz, YOU CANT DO THAT!" Then he did other stuff like cut hair and I stopped saying that. :D
Genkai
I watched it for the first time in the past few weeks (not sure exactly when..), and I really liked it. It wasn't tedious at all to watch, the kind of movie you absorb in until somebod speaks and shakes the whole world because nothing exists but the movie. Edward was such an amazing character, I can't imagine how the character could be any better. I especially love the line "And then she took me to the back where she took all of her clothes off." and the nonchalant responses from the family. Classic. future girl
I've probably seen Edward Scissorhands about a million times, or I could see it a million times and never get tired. It doesn't get old, it always has the same effect on me. It's one of the saddest movies I can choose to watch and yet the message that it sends across, that all of life's hardships are worth the moment you're loved back, that's beautiful. Johnny Depp is incredible in here, barely any dialogue and yet he manages to express everything extremely well, you know what he's feeling and you don't have to be told. It's a great movie. Sephiroth
Man, I have not seen ES in years! I still have the original VHS somewhere in the attic, maybe it's time I dug it out and watched it again. I didn't know it starred Johnny Depp though, hmmm..... Rockstar Haruko
I like Edward Scissorhands. It was kind of sad though. I like the whole concept going on in the movie. My favorite part was when Edward was getting all the attention from the women in the neighborhood. OMG they were so nosy! I also happen to like Johnny Depp! It was every since I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. I never really noticed him before. He is sooooo gorgeous!!!
Sara
I saw this a few months ago with my friends, although seeing pictures for it (or something) is a vague childhood memory. I was really impressed by it, I think. It was so bizarre--there's really no other way for me to describe it, heh. The first thing I noticed was the color, and that was sort of a constant thing in the back of my mind as I watched the movie. The whole film left me with the feeling I needed to strangle something, just because in so many ways, it was just surreal. I was also really struck by how expressive Edward/Depp was, like Tony said, without even speaking. It was really kind of captivating. Heh, I think the only way I could manage to describe it to Tony was that "It was so perfect, and so wrong," or something to that effect. At least at the beginning, because, well... An Avon lady finds a scarred, pale man dressed in black leather with giant supersharp blades for hands...and she takes him home for dinner. And for some unfathomable reason, it's okay. *laughs* To be honest, it really creeped me out. It was just so bizarre. I need to see it again.
Yeah, actually the movie was based off the book. I hope I can find the book in the library or something... maybe I'll check that out this weekend. I really want to read it! ^^
Originally posted by Sephiroth I didn't know it starred Johnny Depp though, hmmm.....
Yeah, I didn't know that untill my sister told me. I just looked at her funny and said, "Whaaaat???? Seriously? That's Jouhnny Depp?" And she just nodded. Lol. Hard to tell with all the make-up on, eh? Lol, that lego Edward is kinda funny. I didn't know they had even made one. *shrugs* But they got the details in pretty well, even though it looks strange. :p I like the hair... lol.
NorykoAngelcry
This will remain one of my favorite movies. I am always impressed with Tim Burton's work. . I don't know why, but I don't have this movie on DVD yet. It's wierd, I have a few movies that I could watch countless times, and yet, I don't own a single copy of it. *shrug* guess I should rethink some of my selections next time ^_^ As most of you have said, I really enjoyed Jonny Depp's character. It really did hit you on a deeper level then most movies where they 'make' you feel sorry for the main character. I also enjoyed the whole environment of everyone in the town. How classic is it for people to jump on the bandwagon with something is new and exciting, and then jump off the moment something goes wrong (no matter how small). . just my opinion. . Japan
I just saw this two nights ago on WAM!. I have to say that this movie is really awesome. The idea, in reality, of bringing some strange guy you just met into your house to have dinner with you is a big no no...especially if he has scissors for hands. All in all, this movie was very good, moving, and sad. I like this movie a lot. Johnny Depp did a very good job.
Shi no Tenshi
Johnny Depp is one of the few people in Hollywood I admire for not only his acting but for his personality and willingness to take up a part that may not be glamourous and yet he turns it into something heartfelt and deep. I loved this film, and the hidden messages in it. It's a really nice film to analyse, like at the beggining [this is hardly a spoiler] where all the houses are the same and all the men leave to work at the same time etc. Fantastic. Edit: Almost forgot! He and Johnny Depp weave a magic I have never seen on screen elsewhere :]
