WW2
Ok, I wrote this short story as an assignment in High School, and I think its good enough to post. I really don't consider myself a good writer, but I don't let that stop me. So, don't be surprise if there are a few mistakes. With all that out of the way, I bring you the first part of this story: The Intro.:D The Dark Quest Come; listen to my story, a story of great warriors and of horrible beasts. It is a story of an epic journey into darkness and despair. This tale transpires in the kingdom of Galia, a beautiful land surrounded by high, snow capped, mountains to the north, and a dark, baleful forest to the south. It was in this forest that evil was spawned. A horrific pack of beasts known as the Drozen had laid siege to the great kingdom and its people. They?ve slaughtered many of Galia?s warriors and the villagers not protected by the castle walls. This conflict between the fearless knights of Galia and the Drozen has spread over seventeen years, leaving only the strongest of men alive. Our story begins in the fall of the seventeenth year of the war. The kingdom is mourning over the most recent battle with the Drozen in which their king and many others were injured. King Speigal and his knights managed to drive the blood thirsty beasts back to their woods, insuring a little time before the next inevitable assault. But for now the warriors rest, make preparations, and pray for the speedy recovery of their bed ridden king. The king lay in his chambers, under the watch of the kingdom?s finest physician and his son Van. The prince watched, silently as the doctor and his assistants treated his father?s wounds and eagerly awaited their diagnosis. Soon the sun set and the doctor finished his work. ?You may all leave now. There is nothing else we can do,? the old doctor informed his assistants. The assistants then slowly gathered their instruments and exited the chamber with their heads hung low. The doctor then motioned for Prince Van to come over. ?What is it Doctor Lee? Will my father be all right?? Van asked. Lee sighed and turned to the young prince. ?I?m afraid he has suffered a serious blow to the abdomen. A Drozen blade breached his armor and was plunged into his stomach.? ?Can he survive such an attack?? Van asked, staring at his father?s bandaged wounds. Doctor Lee lowered his head, ?I?ve done all that I can, but he is slowly dying even as we speak.? Van clinched in anger, ?Damn those heartless demons, they?ve already taken one of Galia?s kings and now another? When will it end?? ?Soon, I hope,? Lee replied, as he walked towards the door. ?I?ll now leave you here with him.? Van watched the doctor leave the room, closing the door behind him, and then turned to his father. ?Father, can you hear me? It?s me, your son.? He then kneeled next to the king?s bed, awaiting a reply. The king then groaned and opened his eyes. ?Van, why do you have such a look of sorrow on your face?? he asked, staring into his son?s eyes. ?A man like you shouldn?t have such a look, it shows weakness.? The prince smiled and quickly removed his grieving expression. ?Listen my son, soon death will come to claim me and I will leave you and my people. It is up to you to lead them against those foul creatures and help bring an end to this dreadful war. I know it will be hard, but that is your duty as Galia?s new king.? King Speigal then stopped and cringed in pain. ?My time is near. If you need help in you duties as king, Sir Duncan will be there to guide you. He has always been such a good friend.? The King?s words began to come slower as he started to lose consciousness. ?Fight well my son, and free our people from despair. I leave it all to you.? The king then became silent and his body lifeless. ?Good bye father, I shall do my best to honor your wishes and to become the king you want me to be.? Van then stood and closed his father?s dead eyes. He then turned away, slowly walked out of the room and down the dark, stone hall way until he came upon Duncan. ...thats it for now. I'll post the second section, once I get a response or two.
