Does anyone watch this series or read the manga? I just Bought it And its one of the greatest anime Ive ever seen. Right up there with .hack//sign. I also have the first (soon the second) volume of the manga. Its more humorouse but not quite as good. The manga is way wierder than the anime.

I've never read the manga or seen the anime, but the manga looked interesting. I think i'll buy it after awhile, give it a try. But the only thing holding me back from doing that, is that i'm totaly broke!:bawl:  I gotta get a job. But once I have a little green, i'll check it out.

Its a must have. Lots of action, yet no blood. Very funny yet not overly comedic. Very little drama. No romance unless you count Jings bird partner hitting on girls romance. Its very odd, the manga is extremely odd.

I've seen the first episode, and have to say its pretty good. Its got good character design, and a somewhat interesting story.

I really like the way Jing's bird fuses to his arm and forms that gun thingy. :D

The first episode came in the last issue of Newtype (with evangelion on the cover) I liked it and it was pretty funny, but not really exceptional enough to actually go out and buy it. Maybe if there's nothing else on your plate. I am really lucky enough to have anime rentals at my comic store for $1.50. I think its the only good thing about moving to Eugene, OR.

I watched two episodes of this at a friend's house, and was mightily dissapointed. I don't see this abundance of humour that you all speak of, and I certainly felt that the characters all had their gaping foibles. Jing, especially, was the quintessence of heroism; he was flawlessly intelligent, strong, fast, attemptedly witty, whatever. Perfection in any dosage annoys me, and I felt as though that was what this series was striving toward at the expense of potential excellence.

I started watching bits and peices of this series on TV, and I think it's allright. Some of the episodes can be very boring to me, but some very interesting. I don't know, it's sort 50/50 with me right now. I've only watched about 5 episodes, though. The animation is good, and the art is very, very cool to me. Some towns and places remind me of Alice in Wonderland-esque things and most of it is wonderfully creative. ^_^. The idea of meeting a pretty girl in every episode and doing something to save/impress her bores me a bit, though. *shrugs*

What I really like about the anime is its music. It really has a great soundtrack, and I particularly like the ending theme to the show. I tried seraching for its soundtrack, but had to luck finding it for some reason. I wonder if it's even been made, lol.

I am a HUGE Jing fan. There is no CD, it ony has 4 real songs. I have seen the first 7 episodes. I own the 1st 2nd and 4th DVD and will get the 3rd soon. Its a really great anime, not quite as good as the manga though. Its weird and diverseness are really great! It has action but not people getting ripped in half and drama bt not people losing their husbads. Everyone complains about the lack of story, but I give it 2 thumbs WAY up!

Well I've seen the first episode of Jing, it came with a Newtype mag., and I found it sorta interesting.

I really liked how Jing could fuse his bird buddy to his arm, and make that gun thingy.
For me, its just about the only thing that really stood out.

The humor in the show was also a nice touch, but kinda odd, like the useless skeleton dude at the opening of the episode. What was that all about?

All in all I think its a decent show, but then again I've only seen that one episode, so I may be wrong.:D

A lot of people think that the coolest part is when Jing fuses his owl-thing, but that's actually the part I don't like, lol. I usually dislike it when people mix CG effects with hand-drawn animation, so that's most likely it.

MetalSonic: It sucks that they don't have a soundtrack, though.

I've only read the manga....recently bought the 3rd book...I really like it. I wish I could afford more anime DVDs cuz I would love to buy Jing. The places do seem oddly outlandish....I likes it! The characters are so different from any other anime/maga. And the humor is always a good touch lol. Now I have to wait FOREVER for the next manga to come out....I'd have to say...Jing is one of my top 5 favorite manga.

HAHAHA! vol. 4 of the manga is already out! Tokyopop released it a week ago! The manga is better than the anime to me, because in the anime Jing himself never really jokes or is funny. Like with the skelaton ship when he says "DRIVE WOMAN!" and when Rose get drunk, neither of those is in the anime!

I just finished watching the three-episode King of Bandit Jing OVA (King of Bandit Jing in Seventh Heaven), and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Seeing this has convinced me to buy the original series.

In any case, the OVA was spectacular. It had great production values and smoothly combined traditional animation with CGI. While one scene at the very beginning felt a little awkward, there were plenty of later sequences featuring full CG backgrounds that looked lush and dramatic but were not at all distracting. I couldn't find anything to complain about, either in terms of artwork (I loved the character designs, which ranged from cute to amusingly bizzare) or animation.

The OVA's main theme was dreams, and so the whole thing ended up being very stylized and surreal. One of the side characters was a sunglasses-wearing, cigarette-toting cherub who flitted around on tiny wings and made blase comments from time to time. As you might expect, most of the three episodes consisted of Jing and Kir romping through (not to mention escaping from) various quirky dreams. It felt very much like Alice in Wonderland, and I generally love that sort of thing. Seventh Heaven most definitely did not disappoint.

Actually, the ending turned out to be pleasantly poignant. I was surprised to find myself touched by the words of two characters who had received minimal development (although, looking back, there were a lot of subtle hints as to the true nature of their relationship). I guess I have to blame my strong emotional reaction on the amazing music, script and visuals.

Seventh Heaven reminded me of Kino's Journey, and I expect the TV series will probably do the same. In Kino's Journey, the two main characters (the impassive Kino and Hermes, Kino's talkative sidekick) drift through an endless stream of strange countries. They do not change over the course of the show, which is entirely episodic. Instead, they're more storytelling devices than anything else, and serve as a way to introduce the viewer to all sorts of different people and situations. Kino's Journey whetted my appetite for episodic anime, and after watching Seventh Heaven, I know exactly what I want to get next. :)

I've read the manga and watched the anime. kobj is one of my fave anime and manga right now. the animation in the anime is really nice. the mangas are done, almost jhonny the homicidal maniac style. with all of the dark colours. it's great in anime and manga form. I'm surprised that kobj doesn't get as much recognition as I think it should...

Nomura's review of Jing

Title: King of Bandits, Jing
Length: 325 min., 13 episodes

Theme Song: I use to think FMA's TS was the best, but this one is ten times better. Each time, I sing along to it, and enjoy it as much as the time before.

The Plot: The plot is about a young teenage boy, who travels from town to town, searching for rare items. He meets many girls, probably one in every episode, and he falls in love with a couple of them. None even knows that he's the king, until he steals something unthinkable. There are actual morals throughout this story too, so it's probably got everything. Action, Romance, Drama, Adventure, Comedy, everything. Fans of FMA, InuYasha, and DBZ will love the strange unique story.

Characters: Jing- The king of bandits and star of the show.
Kir- The sidekick mockingbird of Jing, who can fuse to Jing's arm to makes a blast of power as a weapon. Kir is Girl Crazy, and a lil bit pervy...

Postino- A traveling mailman that shows up in every other episode on a motor cycle, giving tips to Jing. Mysterious...

Artwork: The artwork is very solid and is really great. It's similiar to FMA and DBZ, but has it's own unique style.

So, yeah, this Anime is awesome and I think I'll give it a...9.6!

There is no 5th or 6th DVD. For better or for worse, thirteen episodes is all you'll get from this series. If you want more Jing-related content, you could always look into reading the manga. Tokyopop has made quite a few volumes available.

Oh my gosh! After all this time, ADV actually licensed the Jing OVA! I couldn't be happier. The TV series is dead to me, and I never could get into the manga, but the OVA is just lovely (and worth every penny of the R2 deluxe set). I'll be delighted to own it on R1 DVD.

holy crap! I created this topic with my original account! And posted again in my second!!!

Anyway, I'm more than excited to hear this. I've wanted to see this FOREVER!!! This was my favorite arc in the manga, and the anime version i've heard is great (the rest of the anime wasn't nearly as good as the manga). I look forward to this!
