Ryu_Sakura
Mod-approved double post. Post above was deleted due to spam. -Syk3 I just noticed why, I'm not used to looking at images like that, being so clear and all. Well, I just cooked up a matching avi for the Princess one. and here it is: The text is hard to read, and the fact that the text is so small is bad, but other then that I think it's great. Katana
Eh. They're okay. Definent room for improvement. They're just...so plain. I can see how you made those banners. Images, paint swatches, and random effects. Nothing too creative. I guess that they're okay, seeing as how you "just learned how to use PaintShop Pro". They're nice, but borders and such would be better. And they're kinda fuzzy.
As usual I am perfect.
~_~
Ryu_Sakura
yeah, I know, right now behind the internet I was just playing with the effects. Note: The Aged NewsPaper Effect is coolness, I'll probaly use it alot, along whit sepia, or whatever it's called. First one with effects! And Katana Don't Insult Perfection. It's not my fault.
Syk3
Originally posted by T man It's good. Of coarse you're alot better at making them than I am. I've only made three banners since i've join the ob.
T man, I'll ask that such posts be improved if you wish to comment on a peice of artwork. We have very specific rules, which can be found in a sticky entitled Constructive Criticism. You have to expand your posts. Take a step up from what you have been doing and go into detail about what's good and what's bad about the banner and how they can improve the parts that need improvement. Sara
In general, they look good. Some little stuff that could make them better... Your text is all kinda hard to read (although the "Princess" bit is very pretty.) The orange-red on orange-red and blue on blue are just...straining. In the last one, "fades" and "but" are both not-easy to read, on account of the yellow border and the light background behind them. You have some nice pictures to work with, though. Maybe just some tinkering (repositioning and/or changing color) with the text. And the first ones would really benefit fro some sort of border, just to bring them together. Katana
A different color font would work better. The blue you used mixes into the color of the water. Maybe a navy blue or an entirley different shade. I like it, though, because I'm a big water person. Dun ask me why, I seriously don't know, but the water is a very cool thing. ^^ Again, a border would be nice. Borders work miracles, for some reason. The make it look more professional or something. Not sure. *shrugs and walks off*
Ryu_Sakura
yep, I agre, ish hate the color of the text, you can't see the r in your. :sigh: Look what i Finished! This timew i used lots of effects, but it took me a long time.
DDG
Ok, here's what I think of them: Princess: Very beautiful. I like the choice of colors. The font looks nice, the colors make it a little hard to read, but the font looks good. #2: Looks nice. Font color looks good, font looks good overall, could have done with some more effects, looks very nice though. #3: The avatar is good. Matches the banner very well. The font color just makes it very hard to read. #4: The picture is great, effects are great, only problem is the text. Some of the letters blend in with the background and are very hard to read. #5: This is by far my favorite. The water looks very very very nice and very well done. The picture also looks very good. The only problem, once again, is the text. A little hard to read in some places, change the font color and it will look very good. #6: This one is ok. The font and font color are good. The picture is very good and so are some of the effects. The only thing I dislike is the kind of folded effect in the corner. I don't know why, I just don't think it looks too good. I'm not familar with Paintshop Pro so I couldn't tell you what might look better. Overall- They are very good. Just the text color needs to be changed on some and you need borders on them also.
Epsilon
Beautiful, Ryu_Sakura. Such an improvement from your paint banners. Banner #1 I really like this one. I think it's near perfect, the text goes nicely because of the font. And the color of the text adds to the over all feel of the image. You found a good image to use very clear. Only thing I don't like is you don't have a border.... Banner #2 This one is good also, simple yet pleasing to the eyes. I like the shad of blue you had picked for the text. And you placed it will, only I think you should have used a different text, or at least a smaller one. Reason being is that it sort of covers her eye lid. (sorry but that one thing bugs me) Avatar #1 Not much to say...Could have used a different color for the word "Princess." It blends into the character's hair, making it harder to see. This avatar could have also used a border. Banner #3 You did a really good job on this one, Ryu_Sakura. Nice use of a border, and an effect. The image goes good with the message your trying to get across. And I like the angle of the image, but just one problem. The text is hard to read, and a different font would have helped it to be easier also. Banner #4 This one, in my opinion, is very unique. Having the feet of the character rather then the actual character was a good idea. On this one the font really goes, but you should have maybe put it in a darker color of blue. A blue border would have gone great with this banner. Banner #5 This one is, I think, your best. I love the image, and you did a great job on picking which effects to use. The colors are very soft on the eyes, great job on the text and color. Border would have made it perfect though. I love this one.
Ryu_Sakura
yeah, i know some of them need borders, but I can't figure out how to have them 3 pixles from the edge and not on the edge... I can't draw straight lines. oh and ignore my spelling if there are any mistakes the coffe michine broke. :bawl: this one i did out of bordum. there is another, but i like this one, ^.^ and the opcaity. or how ever you spell it. EDIT: Changed, this one is now the one i made for my best friend Naomisan24! EDIT: if you wanted to see the chii one e-mai lme, I'm replacing it with a diff one. Epsilon
I had seen the Chobits banner, I just didn't get a chance to reply. Had been doing other things, but I still remember it. So if you don't mind... Chobits Banner: I really liked that one Ryu_Sakura, the way that the images had over lapped was great! And I liked the clean cut images, even though at some points they were transparent. Could of used a black border though.... Naomisan24 Banner: Nice but, you've certainly done better. I like the characters that you've chosen to be in this banner. Especially the character from the anime, "To Heart." Both characters go well with the pink, but I think you should have flipped the "To heart" character's position. Could use a bg and a nice thick pink border. But all and all, good.
Ryu_Sakura
I hate borders and pink is THE coolness. can't denie talk to the hand! I blame the hyper on all that soda i drank, oh and the ramen too. ^^ heheheheh this was really pointless, and i mean REALLY. but, i think it needs a border or diffrent color text, what do you think? terra
I'm going to repeat what (I think) a couple other people have said -- your banners could benefit from borders and clearer text. You say you hate borders? Why?????? Ha, sorry for all the question marks, it's just in my opinion banners almost always look really unfinished without borders. You even said the last one needed borders ... which, by the way, I think it does. :p (You could also try making banners in different sizes for a little variety, but whatever.) Anyway, overall I actually like them all. I don't think they're outstanding, but I think they're good, especially since you just started using PSP :p. My favorite one is probably the "Fading Away" one. I really love that color, and I like how it looks like light is coming from the bottom right color. Seriously, though, I'd add borders. :p I'd also change the font colors like you've been mentioning you want to do. For this latest one, instead of that pink color for the font, I might try to bring out the blue in the middle guy's hair or in the background on the rightmost part -- it might stand out a little more. You could also try adding a border around the text to make it stand out more and be more readable, but I don't know how it would work in that specific case. Sara
The "Fading away" one is the best I've seen from you. I'm just going to say again--Border! The color of her eye, or the text outline you used. If you hold down the shift key while using a drawing tool, you should get a straight line. (Or is that only for Macs? Someone clear this up for me...)
Ryu_Sakura
Sara I'm going to hug you to death, I don't know how to draw straight lines. ::sigh:: Curse me and my don't read manuals for drawing programs. I'll read them for anything else, but not for drawing programs... Oops i have to go to school now, bye. (I'll try it later, but first learning!)o.0 EDIT: SARA YOU WERE RIGHTR! *does a dance* oh and *hugs sara till her eyes pop out* heheheheh... I'll add a border to those later, I'm doing hw that was due four days ago lol ^^ Ryu_Sakura=Ulitmate Procrastionater (sp?)
