Guest phattmasterdj
In the land of Stygia, all were peace loving. There were no fights, no robbers, and no crimes at all. One would say it was perfect. Then a gloom fell upon the country. A man named Shrinken showed up with army after army of sword wielding warriors. There was a legion of Urki, a legion of Orcs, a legion of Easterlings, a legion of Uber Orcs (if their skin touches the skin of any race that wasn't their own, that creature's life would drain into the Uber Orc.) and two legions of half men half Orc. So to rid middle Earth for the last time of these evils, the land of Stygia called a counsel. "We have been silent and pacifist long enough. It is time we strike out and rid this world of all evil," The King of Stygia commanded. So he sent forth his greatest messengers throughout Middle Earth to find the best warriors, rangers, archers, wizards, and craftsmen. The messengers could only return to Stygia if they had found someone of these talents worthy of this group. Only the bravest of these accepted, for most feared the wrath of Shrinken. But something happened that was not expected. A messenger showed up alone "Let me be in this council of war. I am the fastest runner in all the land. I have some of the best swordsmanship you have ever seen, so tell my why I am not fit to rise up against this villain of Middle Earth," Denthril announced. "Fine, but if you let us down, then do not return unless you are dead," King Isuldur the thrid exclaimed. Later on, the messengers started to appear with those great enough and willing to fight Shrinken. Rikan Sashimah, Niphredil Fanui, Danuke Moriarti, Gelron, Alcarin and Tanis all answered the call. "So, this will be all who answer? Well then, it must be that way. All of you should be very proud to be in the midst of such honor, such skill, such.... honest warriors of God. Three Elves, Two half breed Elves, One man, and one wizard. You are the Seven Rebellion; you are Middle Earth's last hope. When you leave be successful, or die with honor trying," the king said in a short, serious speech before they all would eat, and sleep. They all knew that tomorrow the king would tell them where to go, and what enemies they must vanquish.
AnonymousSource
A background, if I may, as to how I was summoned, and how I answered the call. ------------------------------------------------------------ An Sindarin man sang a happy Elven tune as he traversed the Green Carrock countryside. He was that happiesed right now, running throught forest, the wind in his face, nature seeming to sing along with him, and, most of all, no one to bother him! He slowed his pace as he reached the Elven hall. "Ahh...home again!" He smiled as he walked into the hallway, greeted by many close friends of his, and others who just knew him as the messanger. He continued into the main chamber where the High Elf was. Mirkwood was a mostly Sindarin and Silvan home, so their high elf was not a Noldor, but only a very noble and wise Sindarin, as was the elf walking into the hall. "Ah... Denthril!" The man arose from his reading ancient scripts at his desk. "It's good to see you survived another mission!" "Yes, and it's good to be home!" He grinned, then remembered his job. "Oh yes! The Lothlorien high elf was glad to hear about your new discovery and sent a few changes they found in them." He handed a scroll to the High elf and then went on to pick up the next one. "Rivendell sends word of slight distress as they were attacked by some orcs the other week." "What?" "Mere gobblins...no deaths!" "Ah good! Do they need help?" "A couple sharpshooters would help." "I'll send some right away!" "Good sir! Mithlond also sends word that a fleet of new ships is ready for anyone wanting to pass into the west, they sent word to Rivendell which I'm supposed to bring Lothlorien as well." "Oh yes...I'll make an Announcement." "I have a message for Lorien from Rivendell and I will take the message of how many seats we wish to reserve after a few days of R and R... Now excuse me I need to get in my hour of sleep!" "Denthril...you will not be dispatched this time." "Excuse me? I'm your best..." "I know, that's why I'm sending you to Stygia. They need messangers." "How long will I be needed?" Denthril asked, slightly puzzled. "I'm not sure, we'll get some Rangers on the job, you need to answer the call...Stygia's under attack!" Denthril took a deep breath, "Of course sir!" He sat down for a quick sleep (an hour of elven sleep), then packed up and immediatley departed for the Stygian council with a few other messangers that had all met in Mirkwood to leave. The trip was long and, if not for Denthril and the others' skill it would have been a dangerous one. They traveled through the Rhun area, heavily gaurded by Easterling warriors. They passed quickly through the Mountains and into Stygia. When they got there the council quickly gave them supplies and rushed them off again, they were to find the best fighters they could. "I know of a good one in Mirkwood!" One said as they packed. "Who?" Denthril questioned. "Why Rikan Sashimah of course...you come from there, you had to have heard of him." "Oo...there's a strong one in Rivendell. A strong elf maden! A good looker, too!" Another one threw in. "Ah, you put to much faith in those Elves...I know a tough ranger that's hangin out around Mirkwood!" "Mirkwood? Overrated! There's a magician right here in Stygia that packs a punch!" "Ladies and Gentlemen, a Rohirrim-Elf!" One tossed in! They continued to bicker as one asked Denthril who he'd pick. "Um...I don't know..." "Ah! Secritive! I get'cha," and they continued. Eventually they all went their seperate ways and Denthril thought to himself, Who will I pick? He thought long and hard, and decided...Who better but me? I can do it! He returned. "Where is your fighter?" The king of Stygia question him. "Right here..." Denthril stood rigid. "Let me be in this council of war. I am the fastest runner in all the land, I have some of the best swordsmanship you could ever see! Tell my why I wouldn't be found fit to rise up against this..." Denthril paused to take a gulp, " ...against ANY villain of Middle Earth?" The king looked him over. "Please, I have plenty of experience" Denthril bowed his head and fell to one knee and pleaded "...let me fight!" The king thought long and hard, A mere messanger? Sent to battle the strongest forces in middle earth? I must be losing my mind to even think about it... The king put his hand on the elve's head, "Fine... But if you let us down, then you better not come back, unless all that remains of you is just a dead body waiting to be buried." The king gave in, but tried to sound as harsh as possible in doing it. "Yes my Lord." Denthril stood, and deep down inside... he was smiling! He'd finaly get his chance to be his own legend... the last defenders of Middle Earth...and he was one of them! The_Ghost
OOC: I think I'll do the same thing as Anonymous, put a background so I don't have to do it in flash back (much too confusing that way) IC: Alcarin was wandering through the forest. Again. The last village I passed wasn't exactly the friendliest place on middle-earth. Sure, she took the horse. But it was the owner?s fault. And she gave it back. She did so unwillingly, but she did it. Nobody around this damn place knows how to treat horses. she thought as she slowly traversed the forest. She smelled smoke. Hmm, A city perhaps? Or something else? She snuck through the brush, careful no to make a sound. She saw a small campfire, with a tall, skinny man standing next to it. Not an elf she thought Not of the Riddermark either. Although his horse is. He has to be from Gondor. A messenger, perhaps? Suddenly the man began to speak to himself. ?From what those villagers said, she should be somewhere near this area. Ha, maybe I can find her and be the first one back to Stygia. With a Rohirrim elf!? he sat down next to the fire and began to look through his pack for food. ?What a cocky little?? Alcarin muttered under her breathe. She snuck up behind him, watching him stuff his face. She snuck up behind him, slowly pulling one of her blades out of its sheathe. She, still behind him, put it up to his neck. His eyes widened and he dropped his bread. ?You were looking for me, I assume?? The messenger swallowed, and began to shake. ?I?have a message for you,? He stated nervously. ?Oh, is that all.? She took the blade away from his throat. ?Well, what is it? C?mon, out with it!? The messenger, obviously shaken, turned to face her. ?The kingdom of Stygia is under attack. The king wishes to find the best warriors to help him defeat this evil! I was sent to look for such warriors, and I, uhm?? the messenger trailed off. She sheated the blade and turned around. ?You must have the wrong information. I don?t help anyone.? ?But?the kingdom will be destroyed!? ?And this is my problem how?? Alcarin was already getting sick of this. She grabbed his pack and began to eat his food nonchalantly. ?Hmm, not bad. Anyway, you?re wasting you time. I?m perfectly fine around here. Why would I want to leave?? ?Ha, those villagers seemed perfectly fine with you being around here too!? that messenger laughed. Alcarin glared at him and he stopped suddenly. ?You have your point.? She walked up to the horse and put the pack on her back. ?Please, just listen to what the king has to say. I promise if you don?t want to fight, you will be allowed to leave.? Alcarin pet the horses? mane slowly. ?Ok, fine, I will go to Stygia. I only have one question for you.? ?What is that?? The messenger asked eagerly. Alcarin smiled at him. ?What are you gonna ride?? she mounted his horse and in a flash was off, the messenger running behind her. Alcarin was right, this horse was of the Riddermark. It rode well, and she made it to Stygia in a very short amount of time. After bringing the horse to the stable, she was lead into the castle. ?You may stay in this room until the others arrive,? a servant stated, leading her to a finely decorated guestroom, with silks and satins adorning all surfaces. The servant looked at her muddy clothes and matted, greasy hair distastefully. ?You may want to freshen up a little.? She looked the servant straight in the eye. ?Now, why would I want to do that?? She seethed at him. The servant looked stunned ?Well?I?Uhm?? he stammered. I love to watch them squirm ?Thank you, I will freshen up a little. That is all.? She said in a syrupy sweet tone. The very confused servant left, and Alcarin began to look around the room. ?This better be worth my while,? she muttered.
Dead Alice
OOC: Yeah, I guess I'll do that too because... it's just easier that way... ------------------ "You're getting *clang* better at this *clang* every day," said Ivannath as he defended himself against Niphredil's blade. "Thanks to your training," said Niphredil. They often sparred, usually ending up in Niphredil's victory. "Niphredil!" came her father's voice. "What is it, father?" she replied with a sigh. "There's someone here to see you." "I suppose we'll continue this later," said Ivannath. "I suppose so," said Niphredil, sheathing her sword. Reluctantly, she walked toward her home where her father waited. "This messanger has come all the way from Stygia just to see you," he explained, gesturing toward a skinny, unkempt-looking man. "L-lady Niphredil-" he began nervously. "Don't call me that," she stated. "I am only Niphredil, master swordsman and archer of Rivendell. I hold no title as Lady." "I apologize, Niphredil," said the nervous messanger. "You are requested to attend the king's service in Stygia." "For what reason?" Niphredil asked. "He wishes for seven noble warriors, and has decided that you are a worthy candidate." "Do you hear that, father?" said Niphredil excitedly. "Finally my efforts are being recognized!" "That's ridiculous," he said. "I refuse to let you leave." "I have to go! I will be honored as a defendant of this city!" "You're not leaving me alone. You will stay here, and that's final." "I'm leaving whether you like it or not. You can't barricade me within these walls forever! Come my noble messanger, you shall show me the path to Stygia." She ushered the nervous messanger out the door, without another word to her father. "Ivannath!" Niphredil called. "What is it?" he asked. "I'm leaving Rivendell." "What for?" "To defend this city. The king has asked me to come to Stygia. It is an honorable decision." "I understand. Niphredil, please do not forget me." "I could never forget you, Ivannath." She did something she'd never done before, and hugged him goodbye. "Thank you. I could never have become a great fighter without your guidance." "No, thank you Niphredil." "Namarie, mellon." "Namarie." He kissed her forehead, then watched as she departed, the fidgeting messanger beside her. "Farewell....." Luckily, the messanger had brought a horse. Squall
OOC: When in rome... Rikan sat high in a tree branch, lazily examening one of his arrows. He looked down and spotted a man riding a horse through Mirkwood. He tossed his arrow, and it landed at the horses feet. "What buisness do you have in these parts?" The rider dismounted, nervously eyeing the arrow as well as searching for who had spoken to him. "I am here to deliver a message to one Rikan Sashimah." Rikan raised another arrow, and again started to examine it. "Now's your chance. Talk up while I'm interested." The messenger looked around again for Rikan, his eyes failing to raise into the treetops where Rikan sat. "The kingdom of Stygia requests your bow in battle! You are one of seven who are called in this time." Rikan sat up quickly, almost falling off the branch. "Stygia wants my bow?!" "That is correct! Tales of you wander through Mirkwood unceasibly." Rikan jumped down from branch to branch, until he crouched on a low hanging one. The messenger spotted him at last. "If you know tales of me, you must know my policy." The man nodded and unhooked a bag from his horse. He threw it to Rikan's feet, and it spilled open with gold. "No pay, no gain." Rikan picked up the sack. "There's enough gold in here to buy a pound of mithril!" The messenger nodded. "Aye. Is it enough?" Rikan nodded, and picked his thrown arrow from the ground. "I suppose." The messenger shook his hand, delighted of his decision. Rikan slung the gold over his back. "It's a slight detour, but there's a man not far from here that'll lend a horse and supplies. Tell me of the situation Stygia in the meantime." They arrived at the castle and dismounted their horses. Rikan walked inside, and yawned sleepily from the long borring ride. The messenger left to the other room, as Rikan spied around at the other faces.
PWNED
Tanis neversly paced the room outside the outposts office wondering how to tell his commander about the two young Gondorian Paladins lieing dead across the back of his horse. Eventually his Commander opened the door and beckoned him in. Tanis started spurting out the story of how he had found the two paladins. His commander didn't want to hear this unpleasent news and bought his attention to a Stygian messenger who was standing in a corner. " Hail Lord Tanis"' the messenger cried out. " I have been sent by my king to give the message that our realm requires help" Tanis smirked at this and the said " okay same old realm needs help, realm calls for help, we defend, we die and get nothing". " No, you'll get your pay in advance" the messenger muttered and tossed him a small purse which felt like it weighed about twenty kilos. Tanis opened up the purse to discover a kings ransom worth of mithril coins. Tanis blinked in amazement and then smiled and gave his awnser " yeah why not, it's a paladins right to protect good and stuff like that" Tanis's commander rose and said to Tanis " You may leave for this new journey in one week, but this time don't almost destroy a city." Tanis grew angry at this suggestion and shouted out, "What do you mean? Who burns down cities? Who does all the bloody work? Who gives the order of the Silver hand a bad name?. At this Tanis spun on his heel, dashed down to the stables where he placed the Dead paladins a bale of hay and then leapt opon his horse and raced off toward Stygia. Later that day when Tanis had approched the border he was ambushedby a group of bandits who struck him down into unconiusness. When Tanis woke up hours later, he had a large lump on his head from where he was hit by a club. Tanis looked into the firelight and saw a pair of halflings inspecting his longbow and sword and then wroggled his hands to discover they were not bound properly and his feet, these Halflings were obviously young and careless. Tanis feinged a groan of pain which bought the halfling's over to him. The taller skinnier Halfling muttered " He is not wounded just stunned". Tanis struck his leg out slising low with it effectivly tripping the taller halfling and then twisted out of his bonds to land a fist in the second one's face. Tanis took both down within that very minute grabbing the club from the second Halflings hands and struck each of them out with it. Once Tanis had recoved his weapons and money he took off all haste towards the capital of Stygias which was less than a week away effectivly borrowing one of the halfling's ponys. Within that week he came across a band of goblins which fled from him when he came into sight dropping their spears and swords owing to the cowardly nature of goblins. Onse Tanis arrived at the capital he was treated with stares and angry mutters because Paladins were not openly accepted in the lands. Tanis walked past them in a hurry to reach the castle where he was greeted by a pair of Guards who ushered him in without even asking why he was called here. within seconds he found himself waiting outside the wooden doors to the council chamber wondering what he was in store for
Farto the Magic
Clomp, clomp, clomp. The man on the horse stopped and looked around. He?s not an orc, but he?s still not welcome. Danuke Moriarti sat in a tree, watching the visitor, slightly angry. Those stupid spiders'll get ?em if I don?t inform him. People are so ignorant. They think the world is a perfect place where only orcs are bad. If I don?t hurry, he?ll probably get yanked off his horse and get eaten. As entertaining as that would be, I would?ve wanted someone to warn me, should I be in his shoes. He jumped down from his tree and called to the messenger. ?It?s dangerous to be in Mirkwood, you know. The beasts are restless as of late and the orcs are everywhere. What do you want? If I don?t not have my information in ten seconds, your head will be on the ground.? He unsheathed his sword. ?One?two?? ?The king is trying to assemble a band of warriors to save Stygia!? ?That?s not all?three?four?five?? ?You were on the list and I?ve found you, so come with me. If you don?t, we will hold nothing against you.? ?Six?seven?eight?nine?ten! He raised his sword and swung at the man?s head, letting go of the sword at the last minute. The sword flew straight and impaled a goblin that was sneaking up on them. He kicked the messenger in the back of the knee and sent him to the ground. ?See? Your head is on the ground. Oh, and watch out for that puddle.? The messenger came up and ran to his horse. The horse started running almost instantly. ?Run you coward!? He started to laugh as he retrieved his sword from the still living goblin. ?So, buddy, what do you know?? The little creature panted and gave a slight cry of pain. ?I ain?t tellin? a thing.? The ranger grabbed his knife and teased the little creature, still impaled into a tree. ?Do you have any idea what I can do to you? I can heal you or kill you. All I want to know is why you guys are moving around so much.? The goblin spat at him. Danuke pulled his sword out of the tree, but kept it in the goblin and raised the little abomination five feet off the ground, then stabbed the sword into the tree again. ?What do you know now?? ?Alright! Alright! I?ll tell you! We is?? The squat creature slumped over and died. Danuke pulled his blade from the thing?s gut, grabbed the piece of paper the messenger left and took off. Guest phattmasterdj
OOC: ok, now I think everybody is at the capital, so let's begin our journey into the dark world of Orcs and Uruki. IC: Just as the sun started to rise, a man walked into the realm of Stygia. He walked unnoticed up to the very doors of the king. ?It?s about time you showed up, you?re the last one," a voice echoed throughout the court. ?Who is there?" the strange figure bellowed. "Your name sir, mine is of no importance," the disembodied voice replied. ?I am Danuke Moriarti, now what is your name," Danuke demanded. ?You can address me as Rikan. I?ve heard of you, you?re the ranger that cut off all communication with the rest of us," Rikan said as he jumped from a tree and landed behind Danuke. Danuke turned to face him and gave Rikan a smirk. ?This way your lonesomeness," Rikan taunted as he showed him the way to the conference room. In side, the King was just about to start his speech when he saw the two walk in. ?Well, it's about time our last member arrived. Now, I shall proceed as soon as you take a seat with your fellow warriors and rangers," King Isuldur the thrid said warningly. "Now, as all of you should know by now, the lands of Stygia are under attack. Some of my messengers have given me news of the warlord and wizard Shrinken preparing to invade other parts of Middle Earth as well. I have summoned you here for one reason and one reason only. That is to assassinate Shrinken's generals, and then Shrinken himself. The only way to get to him is by taking the generals down first. I will supply the armies needed for battle, but I can only supply four legions of men. That is all that can be spared to save this realm; the rest is up to you." AnonymousSource
Denthril tried with all his might to stay awake as the King told of his battle plans... Hmm... I wonder what they have to eat around here. He stared off into space. "Mister Denthril...are you listening?" "Yes sir...I was just trying to visualize." He thought quickly. "Sure you are..." The king continued. Why must I be put through such boredom? I'm supposed to be saving a kingdom... Not be told how to fight! Eventually the meeting was over and Denthril was one of the first out of the room. He shot down to his room where he chewed on some Lembas bread and shining his blade. All they had to wait for was the word to go, and he would be off and ready to kill! He rested his eyes for an hour and drifted off into his beautiful Elven dreams of splendour and joy. Farto the Magic
(Lembas) *Yadda yadda yadda... This guy knows how to talk. And talk. And talk.* Looking around the room, he spotted a couple foxy mamas in dire need of a man. (Sorry, it was just too good to pass up.) *Hmmm...That one is prissy and that one is scruffy. Prissy people always die first, but scruffy people are less attractive...So many decisions. Its a very hard decision, but i've decided...both.* "You may be excused, gentlemen...and ladies," the king blurted out in the middle of a drastic, life-changing thought. He remained in the chair, still thinking, though everyone else had left the room... Have at it.
Squall
Rikan yawned sleepily as the king talked. He told of the current situation, the enemies, threats, political nonsense, and anything that came to mind. Rikan had taken the librety of finding all this out from his messenger. He walked out the door and down the castle hall, as a servant came walking the opposite way. "Excuse me," the servent asked, her eyes as big as plates. "You're not...Are you one of the chosen ones?" "What if I am?" He asked untrustingly. She gave squeal of delight. "Thank you. Thank you so much for coming. You've been in our prayers, we prayed you would come." "Sure don't mention it." "Thank you mr..." Rikan sighed. "So now I'm the nameless prayer? Rikan Sashimah, and don't forget it. Soon, everybody in these parts will know my name." "You mean to be famous?" She asked puzzled. "I mean to be infamus." He grinned and kept going. That was what his father would have wanted, for him to be the greatest soldier there ever was. Rikan stopped at a balcony, and layed back against the wall. He started to hum May it be (the LOTR theme song) as eh watched the clouds go by. Outlaw
*Gelron made his way up behind Rikan, using his long staff to rest his tired body from the long journey.* Gelron - Does it scare you? Rikan - What? Gelron - The thought that this may be the last day of peace and rest you ever see. Rikan - What are you talking about? Gelron - This adventure will be long a perilous. Tell me, what is it that a mercinary such as yourself would hope to find on this quest? Rikan - What is it to you old man? Gelron - Oh, just call it a wizard's curiousity. Rikan - Same reason I take all my jobs, money, power, fame. Gelron - Ahhhhhh. But those are the goals of man. You are of the nobel elf. There must be more to this quest for you. Rikan - You know nothing of what you speak. *Rikan swift walked away, Gelron's words obviously having touched a nerve. Gelron simply smiled up at the sky.* Gelron - Yes, there is more in store for you than simply gold my dear boy. Much more.
AnonymousSource
Denthril jolted awake...He slept for a whole hour and a half! What was wrong with him? Denthril charged down the castle to the main room, where they were to meet before leaving, and shouted, "Am I late? When do we..." Denthril looked around, no one was there... "leave?" He finished after a long pause, then slumped to the floor. "Soon preferably..." he muttered.
Guest phattmasterdj
Denthril suddenly jumped up at the sound of someone?s voice. He crouched back down in the shadows to be able to here what the person was rumbling about. "I can't believe that, that, that magician. I know exactly why I'm going into this. He has no idea of what's going on with me, the nerve of him," Rikan was ranting. Then, with out warning, he jumped into the shadows, for he too heard voices, but more then one this time. "Listen, if we have to be in the same group together, you will not ask that again," a voice echoed throughout the hall. "Why? What the heck is wrong with me?" another voice replied. "Why? You're dirty, you're disgusting, you're senseless, and I would rather be stabbed by a thousand daggers at once than kiss you," the voice argued. By now both Rikan and Denthril saw whom the voices belonged to. Danuke was trying to convince Alcarin to have a "night of fun." Danuke leaned in quickly to try to steal a kiss from her, and succeeded. She bitch slapped him and stormed off while Danuke was knocked to the ground and just stared after her. "You will never learn will you? Denthril laughed. "Why don't you ask Rikan how to get a lady?" "How did you know I was here? How long have you been here?" Rikan asked. "Long enough," he replied. "Hold on, you two saw that? Never repeat this to any one," Danuke threatened. "Don't worry, I'll just hold it over your head till it gets boring, then I'll tell everyone," Rikan joked. Farto the Magic
*I must ignore the failure and continue the hunt.* Staring at a blank pillar for far too long, he shoke his head and slowly walked to the courtyard. *A good hunter is...persistent, stealthy, and always dangerous. Even if the quarry is a woman. Its the same as hunting boars. Thet usually run, but if you attack them or corner them, you'de better run. This was a temporary setback. It will not happen again. I will continue with the half-elf but, assuming things go horribly wrong, I will switch to the full elf. The plan has been devised, the quarry has been tracked, the weapons sharpened. My wit is my weapon. Now for the kill.* Seeing that he was already half-way across the courtyard, he sat down at a bench and leaned over. *She called me disgusting and dirty. Well, thats life. Unless you're an elf. Elves are always clean and fresh. Men are always filthy. Thats what wilderness does to you. It makes you filthy. Its an adaptation.* A couple maidens slowly walked by, picking his eyes off the ground, but only for a few seconds. *I'm pathetic. Growing attached to a woman? Have I gone soft? No! Never! I will be stern and callous for the rest of my life! I must not get attached! But she's so beautiful. Like a cold morning. No! You are losing a battle to your heart! Heart versus head! The mind will keep you alive, not the heart! I...screw it, I lost.* He grinned to himself slightly and raised his head, only to see two elves and a magician standing there. "What? What did I do?" The retarded messanger elf (Yeah, you heard me.) spoke up, "You were shaking your head alot and looked mad off and on. You have serious issues." Go ahead. Only one true friend I've made, yet my eyes have never shed a tear. I cannot show my weaknesses. I am a soldier now, and there is no gender in the battlefield. I am a woman with a curious heart, rough and beautiful all the same. The grey sky, a reflection in my eyes shall recede, revealing the future that lies ahead. I only pray that that future doesn't hold destruction. A sky of blood and tears will be the beginning of the end... A knock came at the door. "Who is it?" Niphredil asked, sitting up. "Danuke-" "GO AWAY!!!" Niphredil yelled, throwing a pillow at the door. "I just wanted to-" "GET OUT LEST YOU DESIRE THE COLD TASTE OF STEEL!!!" "Ooh, a feisty one-" "I'm not fooling with a threat. I swear to save an arrow for you." "Fine, fine, I'll leave..." "Men... I swear, every one's a fool. I haven't met a man I've yet thought as intelligent." She flopped back down on her bed with an aggrivated sigh.
Guest phattmasterdj
Another knock came upon the door. "Oh now what?" she moaned. It was one of the servants. "Every body is gathering in the court yard. You leave at dawn," the maiden said in an elegant voice. "Thank you, I'll be down in a second," Niphredil replied. As she walked down to the courtyard she noticed only two others that had not gone there yet, Danuke, and Gelron. She fallowed behind Gelron while he mumbled something about scrolls with magic spells on them. When they all arrived the king met with them one last time. "This is where we depart. I have business to attend to so I will make this brief. My servants have something for each of you. A thing that you desire the most. I am terribly sorry for this short goodbye, but I must be going, and so should you. Goodbye, good luck, and may you succeed without any deaths or betrayals," the king said. With that he turned and walked into the deeper chambers of the castle to deal with his business. The group was wild with excitement of what lay in store for them. First was Gelrond to receive his gift. It was a new staff, strong and powerful, with four spells written on it's shaft. (The four you shall start out with.) Next was Danuke, who received a kiss, and a promised bride if he returned alive and never betrayed the group. Then Niphredil's turn came. She got an enchanted bow and fifteen enchanted arrows. These were guaranteed not to break, and Orcs could not touch them without burning that part of their body. Rikan came next. He received a mithril sword, unbreakable and as light as a feather. The messenger, Denthril received a new pair of shoes and a short sword crafted by the greatest Elvin blacksmith's. Tanis was then promised a thousand men on his return to Stygia. Finally it was Alcarins turn. As she looked at the wrapped, bulky cloak her eyes widened. She quickly took it and unwrapped it and sure enough, it was a mithril vest. All had gotten their gifts, and the Elvin cloaks along with it. Just as the sun started to rise over the horizon, they had just finished preparing to leave. This was the start of an epic adventure. Farto the Magic
Walking through the village paths, he thought to himself. *A promised bride? Where's the fun, the sport? Thats like sacraficing an animal to a cougar. They won't eat it, its already dead. Both of these women are too feisty. (Everyone is taking advantage of this fun little weakness, making it sickening. He may be a romancer, but he's still monogamous.) It is a weakness. Love is weakness. Lose the weakness and you shall be invincible! Lose all attraction to everybody. Its pathetic. Its not right for the battlefield. The only thing you now love is your weapons. First of all, lose the promised bride by any means necessary. Then, get it so that I lose interest in all these women. The only thing you shall love will be the sound of an orc's last breath. Battle-lust shall consume you. Bathe in the blood of your adversaries. Destroy them all alone. No! I must fight every speck of love and goodness! I will not chase these women! It will not work! I must not give up a hunt, though. The prey always fights back at first, then it surrenders. I must fight it. No, it will hinder my skills. You are the only one who matters! It is you and you alone who shall destroy these orcs. Solve old rivalrys, become top predator, slay some orcs. Defeat them and you own the forest! I can not get any competition. But, the hunt? I must complete it! Damn my pride! No! No, I must continue the hunt. I must keep my record intact!* He stopped walking. Just standing there for a minute or two and then started walking again. *What happens, happens. I will let my path guide itself.* __________________________________________________ Star Wars: Korriban Adventure! Try it!
The_Ghost
OOC: Sorry I took so long to respond-My computer was laying on my kitchen table?completely taken apart! My dad decided it wasn?t working fast enough! Anyway? IC: Alcarin breathed deeply, enjoying the fact that she was back in the woods. She couldn?t handle her room in Stygia. It bought back memories?memories she didn?t want to think about. Too soon. she thought. Maybe later. She spent most of her free time wandering the marketplaces of the city. For a new part of middle earth, Stygia was bustling with activity. It was a good time for her to practice her stealth, as many were talking of this ?quest? they were going on, and she prefered not to have to bother with speaking about it. She still wasn?t sure why she was coming along. Boredom? Glory seeking? Or did she just want to get away from it all? All she knew was that this was going to be interesting, and change of pace was always a good thing. That mithril vest didn't hurt either. She had always wanted one...Eridos always said he would get one for her...I'm not going to think about that. I have to focus she thought, but part of her knew she was going into denial. She decided to deal with this later and began to think about the journey. She had carefully watched her fellow companions at the meeting. She had not yet put her full trust in any of them, but they didn?t seem too bad to her. Except for of course, Danuke, who she figured if she didn?t kill him, Niphredil probably would. ?Stupid chauvinist?? She muttered. She turned around. ?Speak of the devil, here he comes.? She said. Danuke sauntered over to her. ?Hi there?? He had barely gotten the words out when Alcarin pulled out her blade and held it near his neck. ?Ok, if we are going on this quest together, we have to get one thing straight: You try to kiss me one more time, I swear I will slit you from nose?? She slowly pointed the blade at his nose, ?to navel.? She brought the sword down and held it across his stomach, taking a step toward him. ?Your advances are not only annoying, but they may be detrimental to our mission.? He gulped, and she turned and sheathed the blade. ?Speaking of our mission, the king seemed a little vague. Sure, he gave us a directive, but I would like to have a plan of action, if you don?t mind. Anyone have any ideas??
Squall
Sorry Farto, but a womanizer is the first impression you made. --------- Rikan examined the sword, seeing his own reflection in the polished blade. It was quite nice, light as a feather as proclaimed. He twirled it about himself with grace expected of an elf, and then sheathed it in the back of his belt. It would be quite handy in close quarters. Rikan's thought faded, as he saw Gelrond walking a little behind him, examining his new staff. He thought about what he had said. I know fame and fortune are men's desires, but those are the only desires I can have, if I am to make proud my father. I am a noble elf, that I know. But, what does it mean to be an elf? I know physically I am, but what about mentally? He pondered to himself, drawing his eyes to the road ahead. His thoughts seemed to wander in every direction, as they sometimes did. He wondered why, in all the creatures on middle earth, why were they chosen? Were these truly the best this world had? It was an odd thought, seeing as he was picked. He didn't think he was in the top seven warriors in the world. He was good, but not impossibly good.
Outlaw
*The Seven walked with purpose, but no direction. Thou they knew what they had to do, they didn't know how, or were to do it. Gelron remembered the teachings of the Istari. Though he himself was not one of those chosen to help guide the world of Middle Earth, he had both the training and wisdom to do so if needed. Now was his time to prove his purpose, and give these new heros direction.* Gelron - First, my dear Alcarin, we must find a means of transportation. Danuke - You mean like horses? Gelron - Exactly. Rikan - Then why don't we just ask the king for some. He already gave us these fine weapons, why not spare a few horses aswell? Gelron - No, if he could have given them to us, he would have. The horses we require must be faster and stronger than any in even the king's stables. Danuke - And were will we find horses like that? Gelron - I have lived in this land a long time, treating the wounded and the sick. And in that time I have been told wonderous stories of a heard of mares in the vast rolling feilds to the East. Rikan - Splended. So we march for miles to a seemingly endless stretch of plains to look for a herd of wild horses which you have heard stories about. And even if we find them, we must tame them. Than ride them back across the plains. It will be easier and faster to simply walk. Alcarin - I hate to say it Gelron, but I agree with Rikan. *One by one, eash of the other party members displayed there lack of faith in Gelron's plan.* Gelron - I never said they were wild. And I know more than mere stories about them. They have been bread and tamed by an old hermit who lives on the plains named Aeodon. He is an old friend of mine, and owes me a favor. Once we get the horses, travelling from army to army will take hours rather than days. Denthril - Can these horses truely be that swift. Gelron - Swifter than you would have ever thought possible. Now come, the journey will take us two days on foot with a brisk pace. *With that, Gelron began towards the gates of town, not waiting for the other to think about it. As he approached the town gate, he looked back to see if they had followed his lead. He hoped he knew what he was leading them into.*
Farto the Magic
Danuke sat in a tree. This was their break. This tree reminded him of those in Mirkwood. How he wished he was there. *These women would rather stab me than talk to me. The hunt is failed. It was a half-hearted hunt that did not need to continue. Pride is the only reason I was doing that. My first failed hunt. That doesn't happen. The orc will win. They will kill you and use your skin for a flag. The hunt can continue! No, it can't. The hunt ends when the hunter's life is at stake. Those aren't women. They are sirens. They lure you in and kill you.* He drew his knife and started to carve the tree. He carved the head of a duck in the branch he was on. *It's funny that a knife is less dangerous than those two sirens.* He sheathed his knife and continued to climb higher. Peeking out, he saw most of the group members talking. He was a loner. People were foolish. They thought that a few mercenaries could stop legions of orcs. It was suicide and their whole group will die. The thought crossed his mind of going back to Mirkwood. *It was an honest thought. Self-preservation was important. It is better to run than get killed and skinned. This mission will fail and all will die. Stygia is not worth this.* He wanted to see if anyone else was on the ground. He climbed higher into the tree... Who's next?
AnonymousSource
Ok...Phatmasterdj is busy and wanted me to post this...so the first half is his post, the second is mine. He will be all the enemies and important NPCs from here on out(such as shrinken, the king...etc). Ok, this is his... (PS - Phatty... I edited it a little, I told you why I would... just reminding you) ------------------------------------- A Hell hawk landed just beyond a mountain range. "He said they would be here on this day. Destroy any villages down there, and everything you see that has a sword. The group will be found easily... The King of Stygia will have given them elaborate gifts for battle. Bring me back all their mithril and the rest is yours!" Shrinkin hissed to Salubia of the Orc army. "I will return with that which you asked, my lord, I shall not be defeated." He bowed to his leader. "If you return unsuccesfully, I will kill you myself. Even if your army is gone, do not return alive." "I understand, my lord." Salubia kept his head bowed. With that the evil leader mounted his Hell-Hawk and it soared away and vanished into the horizon. -------------------------------------------------------------- now my post -------------------------------------------------------------- Denthril continued to walk. Such swift horses...are they elven? Denthril thought, I haven't seen an elven horse in my whole life! Could he really get a hold of some? Denthril looked at the man, walking with his staff. Then Denthril smiled, and drew his beautiful elven short sword. Denthril loved his Longswords, but his Elven shortsword was truly a thing of beauty and power... In his hands he felt the strength of a thousand. His shoes seemed to be enchanted as well, for he exerted less energy then he did before, and seemed to be walking faster for the same amount of energy. He was walking silently and happily... then stopped in his tracks. What was that? Denthril sensed something. He looked at his elven counterparts. "Rikan...did you sense that?" The group stopped. "Sense what?" Rikan concentrated...but didn't feel anything. "I didn't feel anything..." Niphredil shrugged, as did Alcarin and Tanis. Apparantly their Sense Power was in tune as much as Denthril, since that's the only way he stayed alive in his message running. "I...I sensed...a Hell-hawk!" "Impossible!" Gelron popped in... then he saw Denthril's face. He was stone serious. "No..." Denthril gasped, then turned his head to a nearby mountain range... "Here they come!" His eyes bulged in his skull, as the rest of the group looked to the mountains. Legion upon legion of orcs were spewing down the mountain side. They were comeing for them. The fighters drew their weapons, and the wize Gelron raised his staff. The war had begun, and they weren't the ones on the attack, as they was originally expected. --------------------------------------------------------- Let us begin the warfare! Farto the Magic
Danuke peked out from the top of the tree only to see hordes of orcs ready for battle. He was right. This mission would be a failure. The orcs were armed to the teeth. Literally. Their rusted, iron armor making the ground appear black. Their swords, axes, and hammers flailing around in fury. They could not win this fight. It would claim their lives. Though there were a few other options. *Cunning has saved me and will continue to. I do not know if I can save them, though I will try.* He tried to think of a plan in his mind and came up dry. *Burn the village? Sneak away! No burning. Sneak away.* He climbed down the tree and began to sneak away. (Its not much, but i'll fix it when someone else posts.)
Outlaw
*The orc army was massive, but miles away. Gerlon knew there was time to prepare some type of strategy. But what. As he pondered, Gelron noticed Danuke beginning to creap away from the base of a tall tree.* Gelron - Hold young master Danuke. Why do you run from the first sight of danger. Danuke - What? Do you truely beleive that we, a mere group of SEVEN can stand against the might of an entire ARMY! I am sorry, but I will not through my life away meaninglessly for some foreign land full of foreign people. Gelron - And what do you think Shrinkin will do once he is done in Stygia hmmm? His evil will spread across this world untill there is no where left to run and no where left to hide. Danuke - Ahhhhh, but hiding is what I am best at that. *With that, Danuke ran into the forest, making himself virtually invisible, even to elven eyes.* Rikan - Treacherous Swine! How could be betray us like this. Denthril - We sould go after him. Gelron - No. There is no time. Even for an elf, there is little chance you would ever find him. Besides, I do not think this will be the last time we encounter Danuke on this quest. Niphredil - That is all fine and good, but we have more pressing matters on our hands. *Niphredil raises her hands towards the imposing army.* Tanis - We must find high ground of some sort. Master Wizard, you seem to know this land the best. Is there any type of outpost or mesa on which we can stage our defense. Gelron - Yes, there is an old watch tower a few miles to the East. But we must hurry, the orcs approach with alarming speed. *With that, the remaining six hastened after Gelron towards the tower, hoping the orcs would not catch them first.*
