DDR Max 2

My brother has a friend who owns the game along with some pads so he brought it over tonight and we have been playing it all night. Personally, I think that it is great for fun, and for exorcise. My mom decided to hop on the pad and try it out and she is thinking about buying it to do some aerobics on it. But what Im getting to is, has anyone played the game, and if so do they like it? Also, if their legs get sore after playing for like 3-4 hours straight.

"Exorcise," huh? You're a little too religious there, don't ya think? ;)

I haven't tried all the songs out, but I think they removed the music video BGs that were in the first DDR Max. Those were so weird, and I didn't like them. I think that DDR Max was more newbie-friendly, while DDR Max 2 is just overall better for people who have played at least one version before. I still haven't gotten used to those "hold steps" or whatever they are called. :-/ They always throw me off real bad, haha.

What I liked was that they synched the steps to something I can recognize. In the previous PSX version(s), I had no clue what the steps were synched to, so I couldn't get the beat down. DDR Max (both parts) do different parts of the song that are easier to catch.

Sore after 3-4 hours? O_o What songs are you playing on (in terms of # of steps)? And are you bending your knees? I do get tired, but my legs rarely get sore no matter how long I play.

Hmmmmm... well, I never get sore on a mat, but I get sore on those big plastic boards... from the impact I guess/

I agree with AzureWolf, the previous DDR game was a little hard to do because of the odd synchronations. But the steps were fairly simple when you wanted more of a challenge, so all in all, it wasn't my favorite DDR game.

I like DDR Max 2 a lot more! The songs are a lot catchier, although for the life of me I can't even remember the title of one of them. All I can think of is Healing Vision from one of the older games...

"Hold steps"? Now are those the ones where all the arrows are kind of blended together, and you have to jump and stay on it? I find those a bit easier than being hit with 4 different directions at once.

Bottom line: The game is more challenging, and the songs and backgrounds are better than the regular DDR games, and DDR Max one. I like very much!

I find myself using the wrong foot or being in the wrong position for the next step (i.e., left leg on down, and the next step - while still holding - is left >_<). I'll get the hang of it, but I guess it's easier to do on a mat that you can spin your leg without spinning the mat with you (*plays mostly home edition*). I'll figure something out, haha. Until then, I hate those.

Heh, Azure, I didn't know you played DDR.

I first played the arcade version, specifically Max 2, of DanceDance Revolution in our local mall's arcade maybe seven months ago, and I have heavily enjoyed starting. The only reason I regret it is because of the vast amount of money that I have pumped into that machine that could have been put towards an actual PlayStation 2, the home game and a metal pad, or something.

I have played a lot, and I normally play three of my set of six songs that I tend to play at our mall's DDR Extreme on standard mode.

1. Fantasy by Melissa-- My "required" song that I have to play a set of three songs. This has become my favorite and best choice of song, and I tend to get A's on it. The other day I got AA.

2. Butterfly by Smile.DK-- I normally play this song either when I'm warming up, I can't think of a better one to play or if there are a lot of people watching, and I feel like I need to play something I'm good at.

3. Nori Nori Nori by Judy Crystal-- This song is a rather easy one, but it's just fun to do. The melody's extremely upbeat and catchy, and the animations are interesting, to say the least. I was once put to shame when a fellow Standard player unexpectedly played this song on Heavy, and still doing better than me at it.

4. Candy (Star) by Luv Unlimited-- This is another song with a good beat, and is fun to play, but the 8th notes during the bridge really throw me off. I don't play this one as often as I would like to, but practice makes perfect.

5. We Will Rock You by House Boyz-- The only slower beat song I frequently play, because I am familiar with how it goes. Plus, the steps are on pretty obvious places in the music. The entire thing is basically hitting two steps, occasionally the same one, and then a left/right step jump. It's really an easy one, but fun nonetheless.

6. Paranoia by (I forgot and am too lazy to check DDRfreak.com)-- Normally to impress people I'll play this song with someone else. It's not like I get a very good grade on this one; it's just a good finisher that I can squeak a C by on, if I'm really warmed up.

Also, Konami recently launched a page for DanceDance Revolution Extreme for PlayStation 2, and it certainly looks promising. Thought I'd toss that out.

Well Im updating you guys on my latest accomplishment in DDR. I just did Hysteria, double mode, on heavy, x2, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. Only got a "B" but still, I thought it was pretty awesome and... I "AA" on Maxx Unlimited Standard. ::smile::

I really don't recommend buying mats for DDR, they are terrible! The good metal platforms are expensive, about $140 I think, so your better off going to the arcade really

In other news, I almost passed Max300 expert today and failed right at the end :( Got too tired, did 2 expert songs before it, haha

Well actually some of the mats are good, the ones that we are using work very well actually. And the metal ones are more like $250. But anyway, I am thinking about getting a metal mat for myself but im not sure if Im going to or not so. But Max 300 on, I think you mean Heavy, is pretty good... now do Max Unlimited.

Try it first, see if you can do it... if you cant do it, then you cant talk. Im not trying to be confontational or anything but try it, its very difficukt to tdo depending on the song and the level you are on. And trust me, once you start playing... you cant stop, its like crack.
