Spike Spiegel
Without a doubt, it's art. Some peoples idea of art is homosexual erotica, some peoples idea of art is splashing ketchup on canvas, but whichever way you slice the cake it all comes out the same. If you are mature enough to look past the whole gay-motif, it's a decent photograph, but the blue filter is a tad too common for my tastes. all in all it's a nice piece of art.

I find more and more people every day that I know (personally or otherwise) that have a different sexual preference. James
What I find most interesting about sexuality is that a lot of people talk about sexual "preference" rather than sexual "orientation". I don't think that anyone would choose to be in a group of people who are often looked down upon by society and religion. It's like saying that you chose to be straight... You never make that conscious decision, but as you go through puberty, girls become slightly less obnoxious to you :) I think that basically, nature makes you what you are. You can't change it. And talking about it as a defect or something...you can't take anything scientific out of it. To scientifically define sexuality is like defining love with mathematics...it will never work, because love is something that science just can't define. So I think that's the core problem, that people think you choose your sexuality. *shrug* Anyway, congrats to Transtic for being so open about it, it's good to see everyone being so supportive here.

Kittie
it is art no matter what others say. there's 7 types of art and photography is one of those forms. it's just too 'hard-core' for some of these poor American minds... and i Love Gackt!!! :D

~Mystical Pan~
It depends on the person's enviroment. Some people might think of it sexual because they live around people who make fun of each other of being homosexual.

But art is life.... art is all around.... but you have good points and others have good points.... i guess it depends on your knowledge of picture art (ie: painting, photos, drawings) and since so much "sexuality" is expressed in pictures, it can be something considered sexual.... Put it this way, if you were to compare that pic of Gackt and Yu-chan to something from Playboy or Playgirl, would you still think it was sexual content? Pics in porn magazines focus on the sexual parts in a human being and basically the girl/guy showing them off.... Those pics aren't focused on the love between some girl and a guy or whatever, it's focused mainly on turning the viewer on by showing a sexual act and the pic of gackt and Yu doesn't show anything really sexual. Just two guys, naked from the waist up showing some sort of affection for one another and last I checked, affection is love, and love is NOT always sexual.... Desert Shadow
Well, i've been reading alot of the posts. And i've been thinking alot about this. I voted that it is sexual, because i'm certainly not used to art like that. It took me awhile to realize why i voted that, and if i should've or not. And i've finally figured out, that it can be both. It's how you look at it. If you mean it to be sexual, then it will be. If you look at it fer only art purposes, then it is art to you. I never really cared about art until I started drawing. Now i've found i can see the art in lots of stuff. I find music is very much like art. And that it is art. In the same way i can see that photography is art. But normally i would think of photography of a sunset or flowers or something. And normally i would think of art as a sunset or flowers or something. But I've seen many renassaince pictures and paintings. Some of them had nudity in them. Is it still art? I think it can be, if yer intrested in the meaning. But if you look at it like you would, say, a playboy magazine, then thats wrong, and it isn't art to you. I voted that it is sexual because i'm not used to seeing nudity in photographic art. I found it nasty... But i was hesitant on voting because you couldn't see any "bad parts". So i almost said it was art. But i see now that it can be either, its how you look at it....
Anna
OK I'm going to address three issues: the pic- the point that if it were intended for sexual puposes it would have shown more is a good one, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't have any sexuality. What is the purpose of art anyway? You are impressioned to possibly think something that the artist wanted to convey. There are two men nude who are holding eachother. One can't deny that the option is there for someone to think that the men are holding eachother in more than a 'friendly' means. Yes I think that the body is a very beautiful creation, but in my opinion that doesn't necessarily mean that it's right to flaunt it, like you wouldn't cast pearls among swine. In all, the picture certainly has artistic merit, but I don't think the picture wasn't intended for the viewer to think it was sexual, at least to some, and it sort of does to me. Transtic- I just barely noticed that in your sig. I guess I'll be honest and say that I don't agree with the whole bisexual and homosexual notion. I personally think that it isn't right, but please understand that though I may disagree with someone's choice, that doesn't mean that I am 'condemning' them or think that they are a 'bad' person. I still like you Transtic, in fact my opinion of you hasn't changed at all. And I admire your courage to be open with people. :) sexuality in general- I think it was James who said it, but it was brought up somewhere that one doesn't choose their sexuality and that they're born with it. I disagree, we all have the capactiy to consciously make decisions about everyhting we do. Some people might think that they were born homosexual or something, but it's because of environmental stimulis; there are a number of factors that influence a child's mentality when they are young, and those impressions stay with them for life, and they grow up thinking there's nothing they can do about it. But I think that homosexuality simply isn't meant to be, and that counseling could help one who was confused with their sexuality. This is all my opinion, and I don't care if any of you have a problem with it. (and sorry it's so long :D )
