I was browsing around the internet and found something at Toywiz that caught my eye. It is a new TCG similar to Yu-Gi-Oh called Duel Masters. In this game, as far as I've heard, the cards are powered higher and you use "creatures" to battle. I have seen what we would call a starter deck for this game and it has two 20 card decks and a complete rulebook, comic book, and many different things. I thought people might be interested in this because we play a similar TCG so click on the following link to take a look. http://www.toywiz.com/dumajacaga.html

LOL, this is a complete rip off. Yu-gi-oh with the pity of pokemon and characters of Beyblade XD. I imagine they will be selling the way the pokemon people sold it. Use the same reptitive card over and over again in many booster packs XD. I however will buy the starter deck and chekc the game out.

I could imagine it being hard to come out with a cool new TCG, unless it's backed up by a popular anime/comic book/ web thing like Neopets. But you guys are right, Duel Masters sound almost completely like Duel Monsters. They could have at least changed the name...

I myself have begun to write out a TCG that could be popular someday; at least I'm experimenting with new rules and strategies. So far it's a strange mix of rules between Pokemon, YGO and Magic: The Gathering. It might change completely if I continue with it, but it has shown me that it is rather tricky to be original in the TCG market. I've seen TCG cards for Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragonball Z, and even those commercials for the lame-looking Marvel superhero cards. I wonder if their rules are anything like mine...

I'm moving this thread into the Otaku Lounge- Duel Masters, despite being a TCG, is not Yu-Gi-Oh, so shouldn't really be in the Yu-Gi-Oh forum. I understand it's been released to rival its success, but...

I can't say I'll be buying into it, personally. It's made by Wizards of the Coast in very much the same style as Magic: The Gathering, a game I could never really get to like. I much prefer Yu-Gi-Oh's style and ease of use. I'm picky about my card games.

One thing about a fad is that there is no such thing as, "bad idea" or "lets quit". They just keep bringing on layers and layers of merchandise and cheap crap that it becomes obvious that they are just trying to make money. That is when a fad begins to die, if they were less about making money and more about making kick *** stuff, there would be less fads and more forevers.

Thats right, I practiced that speech infront of my mirror last night!

It looks like a company that wants to become popular and make a lot of money. It is just copying Pokemon, yugioh, and all those other shows that started out getting really popular and ending up dying down.

I really cant see them getting too far. Sure they might get popular. Some kid will find out, tell others, and so on. But eventually it will end up being like pokemon is now. lol
