Dragon Warrior
And now... a repeat of the storyline... Sinarescence: the fall of all angels and the dawn of darkness. That?s the definition of this fear-provoking word. It was made for the one event that was the most devastating and horrendous, yet is the name of the one event that no one knew existed. There is a world called Middlore where people like us live out their lives in peace and normality. The people who inhabit this world are called Middlings, also named Middlites or ?Humans?. Humans. Ah yes, you?re familiar with that term. You are a human. They?re humans. You are both humans because you are both just alike. Though you?re the same, their world of Middlore is not. Religion is not something they have, though the constant question of where they go after they die plays in the minds of every resident in Middlore. They do have a belief comparable to religion, though. The belief in Angels. Angels, to them, are guardians of the skies that are constantly watching over the Middlings and making good things happen. What the Middlings didn?t know was how right they were. It was true that angels existed. In fact, they always have since the dawn of time. The Angels are what make good things happen in Middlore. If someone finds a hundred dollars on the sidewalk and nobody claims it, it was an act of the angels. If someone survived a deadly disease and lived on without any side effects, it was an angel. Angels were the true ?good luck? and have always been. But unnoticed by both Middling and Angel alike were the Demons. Demons, spawns of a hell-like universe locked away from the Court of Angels and Middlore, are devious creatures that have features straight out of nightmares. Middlings believed they were real, but didn?t actually have proof, just like the angel theory. Rumors of them are that if you look straight at one, you will die of fright. And it was possible since no one actually was able to test it. The demons, like angels, never died from old age and lived for centuries in their dark world until the time was right to emerge. A large army of them awaited the completion of the Eye of Sinarescence, which was vowed to be the destruction of the angels and the naissance of pure iniquity. What was the Eye? It was a glass orb about three times the size of a human head and twice as heavy as a middling body. It had shocks of dark lightning zipping through it with evil ghouls and demon monsters accompanying it. All the demons of the Demon Court had taken a piece of their soul and put it into the orb to make it?s mission to destroy the angels possible. Though, it took 3000 years to do it, the demons had finally completed the Eye of Sinarescence and were about to use it without the angels noticing. The orb presented the location in Middlore that the demons had to place it so it could summon the Sinarescence. So the demons leapt out of their hellish world and entered into Middlore, scaring the middlites as they did. They then climbed to the top of a high cliff in the middle of a large city like the orb commanded and prepared to place the Eye on it?s pedestal. But as they climbed, the angels grew aware of the demon?s rampage on the humans since all the humans were scared to death. So, figuring out the demons were summoning the Sinarescence, the armies of angels flew down from their Court and began vanquishing the demons. It was a glorious war between the two, but the demons outnumbered the angels and were stronger as well. The angels stood no chance and soon, they would be gone and the world would be swarmed in darkness. How? Since the angels make all the things in Middlore that are good, if they aren?t around anymore, nothing good would happen. And if only bad happens, then evil reigns and so do demons. So the demons were almost to victory. To make things worse, some demons turned some angels into arch angels. Now, the arch angels joined forces with the demons and fought their own blood. The angels were being ?black-winged? (when an angel becomes an arch angel, their wings go from white to black) and the demons were annihilating most of the angels. The demon leader stood atop the high cliff and placed the Eye on the pedestal tip. There was a sudden rumble and the world shook with great force. The humans went dead silent as a large flash emerged from the Eye, blinding everyone for a moment. The Sinarescence began! All the fighting stopped. Everything was dead silent aside from the Eye itself. The clouds above erupted in a red swirl, like an artist taking a wet brush and churning the colors around. The angels (not including arch angels) felt sudden throbbing in their bodies and felt the cold hand of death approaching. Then, from the crowd of humans came a middling. This was no ordinary middling. It had white wings twice as big as any angel?s and a long, glowing sword of light. It flew up to the cliff of the Eye at lightning speed and darted around the pedestal. Then, the middling brought it?s sword tip down into the Eye and caused an explosion of light. Shards of the broken orb flew everywhere and everyone fell back apart from the flying middling. Angels who were just previously fighting demons looked on in amazement as the demons were slowly melting away into nothingness, screaming in great pain as they did. It was not ?til later did the angels find out that since the demons put their souls into the orb, when the orb was destroyed, so were they. The orb also wasn?t able to be destroyed, but it seems that only the sword of the flying middling was it?s executioner. After all the demons were gone and the world went back to peace, the angels rejoined one another, as did the arch angels. It seemed the world was annihilated in the whole attempt to stop the Sinarescence, but it would be able to start anew on account that there were new people created by the heavens to start life all over again. The angels would have to once more be the guardians. The arch angels pleaded for mercy and gave their allegiance to the angels afresh. Since they were angels, the angels accepted them back in and two courts were made: The Court of Angels, and the Court of Arch Angels. The two alliances joined forces and caused good things to happen for the New Middlore. The death of the old Middlore was the year 3000 O.M. (Old Middlore) and the birth of the new one was 1 N.M. (New Middlore). But the angels were unwise to allow the arch angels back in. For on the day of the defeat of the demons, the arch angels gathered the shattered pieces of the orb and flew to their new home to rebuild the Eye of Sinarescence. They slowly put their souls into the sphere like the demons once did and plan to succeed this time in destroying all pure angels. But they wouldn?t be foolish like the demons and fail. After the explosion, the winged Middling disappeared. The angels named it The Policidal, which meant ?Bringer of Evil?s Demise?. The arch angels knew the Policidal would return once more to vanquish the Eye so by putting a little more of their souls into the orb (though, it weakened their strength more), they were able to sniff out the Policidal before they even complete the Eye of Sinarescence. That way, they can kill the Policidal and have the angels at their knees. It?d take centuries, even millenniums to make the orb once more, but with the angels believing they have a tight alliance with the arch angels, slipping right behind their backs wouldn?t be a problem. The arch angels had it all in their grasp: The fall of all angels and the dawn of darkness. ---------- The Cast is the following: Angels Vinlysaii- Played by Deedlit Sariyah- Played by Myself Eschele- Played by Raiha Icarium- Played by Lynx Ophidian- Played by Baron Samedi The Policidal Mike Jenkins- Played by Dmitri_Dragoon Humans Julianne Stone- Arcadia We shall start the RPG before anyone knew that the Arch Angels have the Eye of Sinarescence. Do not say your character knows about it because no one does... not yet ;) ------------ Sariyah entered the cafe and peered around at it's current patrons. The residents were either loud-mouthed morons or dainty ladies and young lads afraid to get their feet dirty. Sariyah scoffed and then recognized his accompliss, Lysaii, out of the loathsome crowd. He approached the table she was seated at and took a chair from another table and sat down. She looked up and focused her orangish-green eyes on him. "You came," she spoke with her silky voice, only a woman angel like herself could ever possess. "Of course," he said, looking over his shoulders like he has the heavy burden of a crime he must keep watch of. "I never did like coming down to Middlore for purposes of coffee, especially in a town like this... junky one." "That's why I'm surprised you came," she beamed, sipping a cup of tea she most likely ordered previously before Sariyah's entrance. "Besides, there's nothing wrong with Roantime. It's a lovely town, if you ask me." "Oh yes," Sariyah ridiculed. "If you think drunks puking in the side allies is a hell of a nice sight." "I don't know. The city has a certain... nature to it." "Right." Sariyah put his head in one of his hands and turned it to face a woman and a man, kissing in the corner. "There ya go, right there!" "What?" "Them!" Sariyah protested. "What? That couple?" "Yes! Just look at them!" "I know. Isn't it nice?" "Nice? Nice?! It's bullshit, that's what that is. Ya see, they just sit there and kiss like this is their private bedroom. This is a public place. We don't need to see that." Lysaii went back to reading her book. "You don't have to look, then." Sariyah arched his eyebrow and turned back to his table's direction. He peered down at Lysaii's book cover and read the title. "Times of Our Age?" "It's a good book." "Sounds like disgusting crap." "It's a pleasant tale of some of the history in Middlore." "Why read about it? We lived it." "I'd like to relive it, thank you," she said with a half-smile. "Besides, a good author wrote it. John Fattertong." "I don't care if the fuckin' leader of angels wrote it." "You seem upset." "I don't know." Sariyah stood up. "I need to go for a walk." He stepped out of the cafe as Lysaii watched him depart. She sighed with worry, but her spirits lifted when Sariyah's brother, Icarium, entered and toom Sariyah's old, vacant seat. "Hey there, Lysaii," he gave her a wide, toothy grin. "Hello, Icarium. You seem cheerful." "Yeah. I have been promoted to a Protector like Sariyah!" "Really! That's great. I'm really happy for you." "Thanks! Do you know where Sariyah is? I want to tell him the good news!" Lysaii's smile faded and she kind of fell silent for a moment until she noticed the curious look on Icarium's face. "Oh, he left. He's gone for a walk somewhere. I'm not sure what's wrong with him." "I see." ---------- Sariyah wandered the streets. It was the middle of the afternoon and the high sun blinded his eyes. Sick of using his legs, he walked into an alley and emerged his wings to take flight. Shaking his head, he took to the sky, not knowing where he was going, not knowing what was the matter with him. Raiha
Far removed of anything remotely cheerful, happy, and angelic, Eschele of the Stone wings sat silently in her corner. Angels flocked through the hallway where she sat, paying her no mind, for they had given up on making her realize that it was not really a chain holding her wings back, but her own self. But still she sat, oblivious to everything around her, knee under her chin, hand resting on her patella, silent and calm. Her body was slight and compact, but spoke of some sort of dormant power. Wings, lithe and flexible, were spread out behind her. At least that's what everyone saw. Eschele believed firmly that they were chained to the walls, blood pouring from them when she attempted to move. And that she had been placed there by the son of the devil himself, Apollyon. Abbadon. The Destroyer. And so she sat, and there she had sat for millenia. Since the time that the Lamb had walked the earth, she had stayed. Unmoving and waiting patiently. Eschele turned her head slowly, her sightless eyes seeing nothing but demons flickering in her vision. To all appearances, she was a statue made of soft gray skin, blue hair, silver eyes, and dark gray wings, clad in a torn silk tunic. She didn't shift her position, the manacles on her hands were so heavy, and the chains running through her wings were so painful.... .....there was no hope of escaping. Apollyon had her in slavery, and while she never saw him, she knew he was there.
Dragon Warrior
Meanwhile, in the Court of Angels... One tall angel stands before couple dozen others at a long, jagged table in a large, open room. He scratched at his white beard as he pondered the current events of the age. He began pacing, causing the other angels to stir. "Gozarel?" one of the younger-looking angels broke the silence. "Shall we begin?" The old angel, who was now presented as Gozarel, had his back turned to his companions until he decided it was time to be seated. He took his sizeable, throne-like chair and sat before his friends and partners. "Yes, Halien. We shall." He cleared his throat and wrinkled his ancient face as he thought about what to say next. "Times are getting tougher down in Middlore," he began, "I feel a slight disturbance that our powers are not able to comprehend. I'm aware it will pass with good time, but it still keeps me shaken that we, the causes of good, allow such things to slip past our fingertips, especially after the Sinarescence, which has left a deep scar within us all. It's been two millenniums since then and I can't stand for another to occur. For some reason, I feel it just may." "That's ridiculous, if I may say so, Gozarel," said one angel known as Filofindel. "The Eye of Sinarescence was destroyed at the dawn of the new age by the Policidal. It cannot be reborn. No one knows how." "It's okay for you not to be able to understand what I'm saying," Gozarel replied. "You can't possibly relate to what I feel, for I am the leader of the angels and am possessed with these powers." "Still," another angel of unimportance spoke up, "You're getting older with time Gozarel and even angels can lose their minds up here in Eternity. Maybe it's time you stop believing your foulish ideas." "Yes," said Filofindel. "You were wrong about the earthquake that'd shatter Middlore's crust. We couldn't do anything about that, but it still never occured." "I was not totally certain on that," Gozarel countered. "This, I'm positive. And something as serious as the Sinarescence must always be taken seriously, as it says in the Book of Angels." The room went quiet with utter silence, one that would make any creature twitch. They all knew they had to follow the Book of Angels. Even if Gozarel was going insane, something had to be done. "But what can we do?" little Halien asked the court. "We send a messenger to the Court of Arch Angels to warn them. Once they know, they may have a solution. Now who wishes to go?" Almost immediately did Halien stand up. He was young, and at times not as quick-thinking as others, but he was damn brave. "I'll take this assignment, sir." Gozarel smiled. "Halien... always trying to get somewhere, eh? Very good. You may leave immediately. Good luck and bring back good news." The old angel let out a chuckle. Halien smiled and rushed off. "What could the arch angels possibly do that we can't?" Filofindel asked mockingly. "They were once evil," Gozarel said, putting a hand to his beard once again. "They may know a thing or two." --------- Had to get that in. Gavin
Icarium stopped talking and just stayed looking at Lysaii or Vinlysaii as was her proper name, he knew that she enjoyed his brother's company but he was a little moody lately and wasn't nearly as talkative as usual, even to his own brother. Glancing at the book she was holding he decided to allow his brother time to think. Icarium: Have you got a new book there Lysaii ? Lysaii: It's called Times of our Age by John Fattertong, it's a sort of abridged history of Middlore, it's quite a fascinating read if you want to have a look. Icarium: Sounds interesting chuckles except for the fact that I've already experienced more than what's in the book and I have quite a clear memory. I'm actually reading a book at the moment by a Middling called Bill Shakespare called Romeo and Juliet, I've been one of his most loyal patrons for a while and this latest work it one of his best..... Lysaii looked up in interest as Icarium went on to describe the plot of the book as well as several other works by the author whom he'd come to respect. He asked her if she would be interested in going to see one of his plays at the one of the majestic theatres in the capital. Lysaii knew that Icarium had always admired her interest in the Middlings which he also took a personal interest in, but she also knew that he had an interest in her also... She smiled for a moment and decided to see exactly how he wanted it to go. Lysaii: So, your inviting me out on a date then ? Icarium coughed and looked up in a kind of terrified wonder and spoke with stutters and nervous stammers Icarium: Well I mean if that's what you want to call it Lysaii, I mean I don't know if I'd use the same name, but then again I was the one to ask you to this social affair...... finally cleared of worry Well if you would like to call it then that is what it shall be my dear, I would like to invite you to the Atlas Theatre in 2 days time to see the newest play by my young Author called The Merchant of Venusia, I will pick you up at your home by carriage at 7:30. Lysaii: I would be delighted Icarium. Lysaii smiled again happy with the arrangement with Icarium, she knew that he was a genuine soul he enjoyed nothing more than peace, purity and noble creativity. It never really did surprise that he stepped down as a Court Guardian after the war, she too have experienced things there she wouldn't ever care to repeat. She put her hand over his gloved one on the table and rubbed it, he looked up and smiled at her, grinned would be a better word than smiled. He was as always dressed in the most impeccable suits and perfectly blended in with the gentry of the Middlings, he had even been once asked by a young nobleman's daughter if he was married. Icarium: Well I have to go for a while Lysaii, I'll see you then in 2 days for the play. Lysaii: Alright Icarium I'll see you then Icarium with perfect manners stood up and kissed her hand before turning and putting on his coat and hand and walking out the door. He looked up at the lovely sky with it's clear azure background specked lightly with the odd fluffy white cloud, he began to walk down the street and passed a gentleman coughing violently. He took a small vial of water from his coat and told him to drink it off and he would fell better, accustomed to being asked if he was a doctor, Icarium replied that he had knowledge of the man's illness. Icarium knew that he had to go back to the Court to see an old friend of his before he left. He felt a flutter as he was transported back to the Court where he strode across the room to talk with Eschele.
Raiha
One of the older angels leaned down to Eschele, stroking her hand gently. Although she couldn't see the shackles holding her down, she could feel an outline of them as she touched Eschele's cool pale skin. She didn't stir, merely fluttered her eyelashes once or twice, then continued to stare blindly forwards. Alujah sighed, her long silver hair falling over both her own lithe body and Eschele's. Then she stood again, from kneeling against the block Eschele had inhabited for ages, and turned away. Icarium walked through the court, and upon seeing the very noble and formidible presence of Alujah, bowed slightly. "Hail Tai Alujah." She smiled at him, almost bathed in mealoncholy and dipped her gown in a slight curtsy. Then she walked past him, speaking softly, as she usually did. "It's no use. ...but feel free to try. Heaven knows we've all had our turns." "Thank you." She departed in a flury of silver and purple wings, and left Icarium to his own devices. He knelt next to her as well, taking her hands in his. Bringing them up to his lips and kissing her fingertips ever so gently, Eschele felt an odd warmth press itself against her. Her eyelids flickered ever so slightly. Icarium smiled and drew her hair back from over her eyes, flipping it over her ear. She didn't stir, until he put his hand on her face, his breath on her cheek.
Dragon Warrior
The doors to the Court of Angels Meeting Room swung open with an injured Halien stumbling through. The angels at the table stood up in awe, gaping at hurt angel. He sat down in his chair and moved his blood-shot eyes onto Gozarel. Gozarel was kept in total bewilderment at the sight of poor Halien. "What has happened?" "It was the arch angels," Halien said, turning his bloodied body around to face the other angels in the eyes. "What was the Arch Angels?" an old angel known as Yohakali spoke. "They are behind it all," Halien murmured, giving off a look of a madman. "You're talking riddles, son," Gozarel said in perplexity. "What do you mean?" "They have the eye," Halien finally said. The room went into entire disarray as these words were spoken. Gozarel had to break it up by casting a thunder-like spell from his fingertips, which only he really knew. "Silence, all! This is a dire time. I knew that Sinarescence was upon us, but I never expected the Arch Angels to turn their backs on us again." "There you go," Filofindel butted in. "You said again. They've already betrayed us before. What made us so sure they wouldn't come back with even more powerful weapons after centuries of planning?" "Yeah," Yohakali accompanied his friend's words. "They've obviously been resurrecting the Eye in secrecy for centuries, even millenniums, and we didn't have a damn clue about it!" "Gozarel, what do you propose we do?" Filofindel asked the ancient angel. Gozarel rubbed his chinhair like his normal habit as he thought. "The only thing we can do, really, is pray that there will be a Policidal." "The Policidal, of course!" someone shouted from beyond Gozarel's end of the table. The rom went back up into pandemonium. Once again did Gozarel have to cast lightning magic. "Yes, the Policidal helped us the first Sinarescence. Possibly they will help us again." "But what if they won't?" Filofindel asked, obviously protraying himself as the axe to this beautiful forest. "What if they don't show up this time? It could be a one time thing!" "They may not even exist," Yohakali put in. "They do," came the serene voice of Halien, who was tending to some of his wounds. "You know of the Policidal, Halien?" asked Gozarel. "I know plenty about this new disruption in the world of the Angels." "Then tell, boy! Tell!" "Fine." He sat up straight and left his injuries to heal for themselves. "Well, I was going to the Court of Arch Angels to warn them like you told me to..." -------- I entered the large gates with smiling arch angels on either side. The place seemed friendly enough, aside from the odd artwork they chose for decoration. Gargoyles are hardly beautiful in my eye. Anyways, one could get lost in a new Court they haven't really been to and so I found myself just that, lost in the endless hallways. But I heard a noise coming from down one of the vacant hallways. So I walked down and peaked through one of the slightly opened doors in hopes that it was my destination. It wasn't. In fact, there was a cloaked Arch Angels waving his hands over what I knew right away to be the Eye of Sinarescence. Then I felt cold hands on my shoulders who spun me around revealing Arch Angels. I ran for it, but they chased right behind me. I was slashed and beaten by any arch angel I passed, even the women if they could carry a weapon or had one near. But I made it... -------- Gozarel rubbed his chin, which he had been throughout the whole of Halien's story. "Interesting," he said. "Yes," Halien agreed. "I nearly lost my life out there." He tended to one of his wings where a chunk had been taken out. It's hard to fly to damaged wings, but what's worse is an angel dies if they lose their wings. He was lucky. "But what about the Policidal?" Filofindel had to ask with anticipation. "Oh yeah," Halien said, looking back up from his wounds. "I forgot. There were also people in that room with the cloaked arch angel speaking of the Policidal." "What did they say?" Filofindel interrupted. "I'm getting to it, damnit!" He cleared his throat and continued. "They said that once the Eye gets strong enough, which it will very soon, it'll pinpoint who the Policidal is. Then they'll kill 'em!" "Oh no," Gozarel exclaimed. "This is even worse than I thought." "What shall we do?" asked an angel from the back called Henroiya. "Well," Gonzarel began, "We need to know who the Arch Angels believe is the Policidal. When the Eye tells them, we must do everything we can to protect them. I'm not totally sure yet, but I need someone to go figure out who it is by staking out. Who would be good for that?" Halien looked up, but Gozarel shook his head. Obviously he wouldn't be up for the job in his condition. "What about Icarium?" a voice from the back asked. "Yeah," Filofindel agreed. "Icarium is one of the noblest and loyalest of our Court. If anyone could take a stake out, he could. "Excellent," Gozarel smiled. "Find me Icarium!" Arcadia
Miss Julianne Stone hummed cheerfully to herself as she walked down the fairly crowded streets of her beloved city. Both hands were filled with groceries and tucked under her arm was a small, worn in leather-bound journal, which basically went with her everywhere she went. And at that particular moment, the little journal and its owner were headed to an older widow's house to deliver the many goods in her arms. "Oh, this is getting heavy," she murmured under her breath, carefully shifting some of the packages into an easier carrying position. An odd number of children hurried by about that, shouting and laughing at one another playfully as they hurried down the sidewalk, swerving in and out of traffic. Julianne heard their approach and quickly moved to the side as they flew by. Her skirts billowed after them as she sighed in slight relief, before glancing up at the buildings next to her. One of the smaller one caught her eye - a flower basket in one of the window was most familiar to her. "Ah, here we are.." Somehow she made it into the building and down the small, tight corridor without much trouble, and then used her foot to knock at the appropriate door. After a few seconds she heard footfalls within and she prepared a smile. The door opened hesitantly at first, before being swung open widely and a thin, tired-looking woman grinned toothily at her. "Julianne! Come in, dear, come in. My gracious woman, did you carry those all the way here?" Julianne laughed and moved inside, heading towards the table so that she might deposit the many groceries. "Yes, I'm afraid so. I'm getting rather good at it, though," she added, straightening up once her arms were free again. "Didn't drop any today." "I look forward to the day when a young gentleman goes out of his way to help you," the widow Elise told her then, giving her a wink, "And you both show up at my door." Fixing her bonnet, Julianne just gave her a demure smile. "Maybe one day," she agreed, but in all honesty, she really didn't count on it. The brunette wasn't exactly the marrying type, it seemed. Elise took her elbow then and led her away from the table towards the window, where the flower she'd seen outside sat peacefully. Underneath it was an old but well-kept piano, and was the widow's obvious destination. "Here, Julianne, won't you play for this old woman?" She couldn't say no. Adjusting her skits, tucking her legs under the piano as she sat at the bench, Julianne fingered the keyboards with familiarity as she asked, "Elise, your lilies look very healthy, today." The old widow beamed at her. "Yes, I'm very happy with them. I expect that I'm getting some extra help, though." Julianne bowed her head in understanding, returning the secretive smile. Elise had it on firm belief that a guardian angel was watching over her. She always said she was a lucky woman to live so long, and by herself. Though sometimes Julianne wasn't quite sure about the latter part of that. After a moment of silence, the brunette pressed down tenderly on the keys and began to play. It was a short, whistful melody - full of sweet notes and a loving drop, accompanied by a deep, velvety chorus. That was always Elise's favorite part. When it was finished, the widow pat Julianne on the shoulder, sighing contently. "You are an angel yourself, girl." Julianne blushed prettily, bowing her head in thanks. "Perhaps I shall stop by again tomorrow, Elise?" She suggested, rising from the wooden bench carefully. "That would be lovely," the widow agreed, her eyes focused out the window rather than on the woman before her. The brunette squeezed Elise's shoulder and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before collecting her journal and heading back out into the bustling streets, feeling a little happier than she'd been when she first entered.
Deedlit
Lysaii watched Icarium leave then went right back to her book, reading for another half hour or so. True, it was a good book, but its history was altered a little from what really happened. It was often amusing to see from the eyes of a Middling. Coming to the end of the chapter, so placed her bookmark carefully in its place, put the book in her large black purse, and walked out the door. It was a wonderful day outside. A soft breeze brushed past her navy-blue skirt and the warm sunlight glinted off her strange golden eyes. She looked around at all the Middlings, walking up and down the streets with their every-day lives. They seemed so happy, as if none of them even remembered what had happened all those years ago....She still remembered, though. To an angel, 2000 years is like the passing of a season. Her mood turned sour all of a sudden. She decided that she had spent enough time among the Middlings for now. Besides, her shoulder blades started to ache, her wings begging to emerge. She walked to the back of the cafe and changed back into her true form of an angel. She stretched her cramped wings, trying to bring the circulation back in them. When she was ready she took to the the air and flew back to the Court of Angels just in time to hear the terrible news.
Dragon Warrior
It was Halien who met with Lysaii when she finally came to the entrance of the Court of Angels. He was watching who passed through and was to yell if anyone that was wrong to be there came through. He was too weak to guard for real. Lysaii stopped at the sight of his soar looks. "Halien, what happened?" "Oh, it's a long story, Ms. Lysaii," Halien said, obviously aching with each word; Even each breath. "It was the arch angels." "The arch angels, you say?" "Yes," Halien replied, holding his side. "They are revolting." "What do you mean?" she asked intently, holding him up, for he was almost slanting to the floor. "They found the pieces of the Eye back when the Sinarescence was ended. They're using it on us." Lysaii's eyes went wide with fear and bewilderment. She was speechless. Halien could read her face and nodded. "They're having Icarium go check out the Court of Arch Angels to figure out who the next Policidal will be." She nodded back and rushed off. Halien called to her from behind, "Don't get too involved, Ms. Lysaii. God knows we don't need to lose any good angels like you." ----------- Sariyah, becoming rather bored of the scenery he was viewing from high above in the sky, withdrew from his flight and made his way back to the cafe where he expected to greet Lysaii once more for a more mature chat than before. Obviously, he was acting like an ass and that needed to be improved. He retracted his wings and entered through the cafe door, crossing over the threshold and poking his head inside. He entered and walked around the maze of tables 'til he got to Lysaii's old table, which he sadly found vacant. He sighed and took the seat he once sat in before. Putting his head in his hands, he felt a nervous twitch in his shoulder, his wings wanting to emerge once again. He shook the feeling away, for it was just something that occured every now and then. He peered around the residents of the cafe, none of which seemed intelligent enough to hold a smooth conversation with him. The place was becoming rather empty anyways. It was growing close to evening and customers were as rare here as alcohol was on St. Patricks Day. He stood up, noting there was no real reason to sit around and wallow in his self-pity. He would go find Lysaii and spend some time with her. He owed it to her, afterall. She had been so good to him ever since the destruction of the Eye. She cared for his wounds, being as a gentle angel as she is, and even became one of his best friends, whom he respected greatly. Mostly respecting her because she was kind, sweet, caring, and didn't revolve her self like the dimwit Sariyah knew. He walked out of the cafe, spred his wings in public, not caring if anyone saw, and soared away to find Lysaii in the Court of Angels... he hoped. Gavin
Icarium stood at the entrance of the Arch Angel's Court, he was soon beginning to notice all the hallmarks of their evil. He pulled on the black robes he'd been given and walked cautiously through the doorway guarded by a particularly looking gargoyle, their halls were made of dark grey and black stone, which gave off a feeling of evil and malevolence. All the doors were made of darkened wood with an eerie idol placed atop staring down at the entrant, Icarium knew well that he would have to take great care as he moved about these halls, after what happened to Halien he could surely expect similar treatment. There was one thing which Icarium had on his side though, his history, the Arch Angels would be more than likely aware of his doings over the last two thousand years and therefore wouldn't be expecting him. He ducked behind one of the large pillars as a group of the Arch Angels strode forth from one of the large imposing doors, there were four of them in total, some he recognised from the Battle of the Eye over two millennia ago. They too were dressed in black robes with hoods and Icarium was thankful that he had at least some cover, he stood silently behind the pillar listening to every word that came forth from their lips and blackened souls. Arch Angel #1: It will not be long until the Eye has enough power to locate the Polidical and then when it does we shall descend upon Middlore and kill him.... Arch Angel #2: Hold your tongue Gazius !, we cannot be sure that the Eye will be capable of pin pointing the exact Middling and if we strike the wrong one then the Angels will know of our deceit. Gazius: Don't dare question me Nao'nac, since it was you who allowed that Angel Halien to escape our clutches earlier !!, who knows if they know of our plan already ?! Arch Angel #3: Be silent you fools !, if the Angels are aware of our deceit then it is possible that they have sent spies to our Court in which case we can have no spaking of our plans beyond our own circles. Arch Angel #4: Domascinos is right, we cannot risk giving the Angels any ideas that even after this long we are unsure of our plans, they may be the weak after this long but their strength still matches our own and they have greater numbers. If they chose to attack now then we would have no chose but to flee !! Nao'nac: Voraz is correct, we cannot risk allowing our weakness fall to the enemy, if we do then it will spell our doom. Icarium listened with increasing hope as their cause grew brighter, the Arch Angels were unsure of the Eye's powers and they were fearful of the Angels wrath in arms. He would wait until they moved on and then he would return to his own Court and relay the news.
Raiha
The presence that she was about to awknowledge had left her once more. Her shoulders slumped desparingly and she could hear the dull clinking noise of her manacles grating against each other. "I'm all alone..." Eschele sighed and looked down at her pale hands. They were growing thinner, her face was the same as it had been for years. She had not aged since she had been chained to the walls. That much she knew. The other angels saw her as an ageless child, and wondered when she would mature into full beauty. Probably not until somebody took the time to remove her locked mind. People always came to her, but she couldn't see them. All she could see was an empty hall with shadows playing with her mind, and voices echoing dimly. As if in a long narrow hallway. Bouncing in her direction, then passing her on. "....so quiet." Everybody passed her on nowadays. She didn't expect help, but for some reason, she wanted that presence to come back to her. He had warmed her. If it was a he. She had no real way of knowing. Eschele leaned her head against her knee and sighed once more. It was hopeless. Really it was. How long would it be before Apollyon came back to finish her off? Or would he let her live out her ageless days in solitude and pain? Hah, who was she kidding? Of course he would let her waste away. That was the way he worked. There was no other visible cure. "I am lost."
Dmitri_Dragoon
Mike brought the garden hoe down into the soft soil. The sun was beating down onto his bare, tanned back as he continued to stir up the ground in his garden. The sweat was dripping off of his nose as he stood up straight. He looked around at the landscape, and was proud of himself. He had hoed six acres of ground in a few hours, and still had time to kill. He started back to his small farm house, hoe in hand. Tomorrow he would plant the seeds of his gardens. Then within a month.. maybe a little more, he would be able to harvest. That is if he was lucky. If not it could take a while. Upon reaching the farm house he set the hoe outside of the door and entered. The coals in the fireplace were still glowing a soft read, so it wouldn't be to hard to start up a fire to cook his supper on. He sat down in a big comfy chair and looked out a window for a few minutes. Mike knew that his life wasn't exactly easy.. but it certainly was enjoyable. Dragon Warrior
Sariyah landed at the gates, passing the injured Halien by without a glimpse back in pity. He looked down the hall he was walking through and up at the walls and pillars that accompanied it, as if he had never seen them before in his long, eternal life. He brought his wings back into his body so he looked almost human if he didn't scream out the name "angel" in his looks. For some reason, he just appeared to be like an angel even without a halo and wings. How, could not be explained. He took a right at the end of the hallway and began another long journey down the next vestibule ahead. He didn't pay any mind to really anything until he saw Icarium running past him down the same hallway. "Icarium!" Sariyah called out after his younger brother who turned around immediately at the sound of his resonating voice. "Sariyah, you're back," he said with glee, forgetting all the burden that was set on him. He approached his older brother and smiled. "Where have you been?" "Nowhere special," was Sariyah's reply. "I'm more interested in why you're in such a hurry." Icarium's face went frozen like a statue. "Oh, I almost forgot when I saw you! I have news to tell the heads angels back in the meeting room. It's about the Sinarescence." Now it was Sariyah's turn to grow cold. "What about the Sinarescence?" he asked rancorously, shaking his brother by the shoulders. "It may be returning because of the Arch Angels. I-I don't know really anything else." Icarium was shocked because this was the real first time over 4000 years that Sariyah ever did yelled at him, not to mention shake him so furiously. Sariyah nodded and let his brother's garments go. "Alright then," he said in a calm voice. It may seem eerie how he just accepted the fate of the Sinarescence, but that was often how Sariyah dealt with large matters such as these. He grew tranquil. Icarium took off again down the hallways and swung open the meeting room doors. Sariyah could hear the shouts and chaos dwelling inside, at least until the doors shut behind his younger sibling. Sariyah went back to the fork at the end of the main hallway, this time taking the left path instead of the right. The left path lead to the rest of the Court of Angels' world. He intended to go rest in his bedroom, but Lysaii came rushing down from the opposite direction in search of Icarium like Halien told her to do not too long ago. She met up with Sariyah instead. Gavin
Icarium stood before the Angel Gozarel and began to recant his story of the Arch Angels' plan, nobody dared to interrupt him as he described the way in which the Arch Angels had been jumpy at the thought that they would incur the wrath of their brothers. He then moved on to how they were not sure of the powers of the Eye and how it may not be able to pin point the Middling who was to be the Polidical, now Gozarel stood up and decided to speak on the matter. Gozarel: It is clear then what our action must be in this situation, we must find and protect the Polidical ourselves before the Arch Angels manage to find him. Angel #1 What ?!, it is clear that we should strike the Arch Angels now while they are weak and afraid of us, if we do that then there will be no need to find to Polidical. Gozarel: Do you forget that the Arch Angels hold within their grasp a weapon capable of destroying us all, there would not be much of a battle or use for the Polidical then would there ?! The Angel who had been rebuffed sat back down, this was one of the few times that Icarium had ever seen Gozarel as angry. Icarium stood up and spoke before the Court to try and calm down it's occupants. Without his notice Sariyah and Lysaii had entered the Court and now waited at the back. Icarium: If it is the Council's request to have a Guardian for the Polidical then I would volunteer. Halien: I think it would be foolish to send a single person to guard the Polidical if the Arch Angels are intent upon killing him, we would need at least 2 or 3 if not more to be able to defend to Polidical properly. Sariyah: Then another is what you will have, I too volunteer to protect the Polidical and my brother if necessary. Icarium gazed back shocked at his brother request but smiled as he knew that his intention was pure. Gozarel stood and raised his hand to quell the noise that had now spread throughout the Court. Gozarel: Then the two of you are charged with the protection of the Polidical wherever he may be, don't fail us or the Middlings Icarium and Sariyah.
Deedlit
Lysaii had listened quietly as Icarium related the news. Somewhere near the middle of his report, however, she felt anger rise up in her from seeminly nowhere. Some hidden part inside of her wanted to attack now! And why not? They were weak. Why not prevent anything from happening? Apparently another angel had the same question, but Gozarel rebuked him coldly. Suddenly she realized that this was the Old Lysaii talking. The Old Lysaii was who Lysaii was before the War---a derisive, bloodthirsty fiend.....she hated the Old Lysaii. But more than that, what would she be like if the Old Lysaii was to emerge? Angrilly she shook Her thoughts out of her mind. No. She wouldn't let Her get to her and make her act rashly. During her conflict she remained outwardly calm, and no one had the slightest thought of her inner struggle. She became attentive again just as Gozarel had started talking once more. Gozarel: "Then the two of you are charged with the protection of the Polidical wherever he may be. Don't fail us or the Middlings, Icarium and Sariyah." Lysaii: "Gozarel, with your permission, I would also like to assist Icarium and Sariyah with their task." Gozarel seemed thoughtful, but she could tell from his expression what he was thinking. Before he could completely make up his mind, she continued. Lysaii: "I hate feeling so useless just sitting here idly while the Arch Angels are rebuilding the Eye. I can at least do something, can't I?" He remained silent for a few more moments before he did anything. Finally he looked up and gave a small smile. Gozarel: "Alright, Lysaii. You can help them protect the Polidical."
Dragon Warrior
OOC: Oy... Lynx, lynx, lynx... you just messed up a huge plotline I was working. But no matter. A part of a good writer is to able to work around these problems and still end up with what you need in the end. I'm gonna use what you have written and still try to continue my idea. But I'm still wondering why Sariyah would volunteer for that? Hopefully it works :) --------- The three angels, after the meeting, had returned to the cafe that Lysaii and Sariyah had spoken to one another not too long ago. Seating themselves at the same table, they ordered some tea and coffee and prepared for a long and thorough conversation. "So," Icarium started, "It's settled. We'll guard the Policidal." "Yeah, we already know that, Icarium," Sariyah said, sipping his coffee. He rubbed his eyes as if he just awoke from a big sleep and got out of bed. He leaned back in his chair and pondered. "In the meeting, Gozarel mentioned we'd still need the Eye to find the Policidal. We cannot find him with the instruments we've got." "But what if the Eye is wrong?" Lysaii butted in. "This is possible, you know. We could be protecting one middling, but the Policidal will be someone else." "Well, if the eye were wrong," Sariyah began, "Then both the arch angels and us will be after the wrong person. The Policidal will be safe. That's the end of that. Heh, stupid bastards." "Then again," Icarium said at a lone tone, "The arch angels were wary of our attempts to see their Eye and such. They may perhaps try to deceive us by having the Eye give away a fake Policidal. We would be protecting a regular middling while the Eye delivers the true Policidal to the arch angels and BAM! We're doomed." "That's why we must be very cautious of this," Lysaii said. "We must make sure that they go after the same person. The Eye can't be trusted." "But that's not going to fucking help," Sariyah spoke angrily. "Those damn arch angels may send some of their cronies to a person so we follow them and then more arch angels secretly go and murder the true Policidal. They have many damn choices in the decision." The three of them squirmed in their seats uneasily as if someone glued them to their chairs. It was indeed quite the predicament. Sariyah was the one to break the silence. "But then again, it's not our true problem," he began in a calm voice. "It's Gozarel and the other angels of the Main Court to worry about major things like trickery. All we have to do is follow orders and protect the Policidal. You and me are {Protectors, Icarium, and Lysaii has also taken the job of a Protector now, so we don't have to worry." Lysaii gave Sariyah worried eyes. "I don't know, Sariyah. It's better to be safe than sorry." "Lysaii is right," Icarium agreed. "We must be cautious at these times. If we don't help the Court figure these things out, tragedy may strike. The Court is not always right. We have to play our cards right or the whole hand will be wasted." Sariyah waved a hand at Icarium. "I know, but I just don't feel it's our responsibilty." "Of course it's our responsibility," Icarium fought back. "This whole conflict involves our very existance." "I know that, damnit! I just don't want such a large burden on me, okay?!" This caused other patrons of the cafe to look over. One waiter walked over and asked for them to be quiet. The three apologized and the waiter left their side. Sariyah leaned over the table and spoke in a low voice. "Fine. We'll look more into this. When the moon hits this town with it's light tonight, we'll go to the arch angels' Court and investigate." Icarium looked at Lysaii who sent back the same worried look at Sariyah. "Agreed," Icarium said courageously. "Agreed," Lysaii repeated. Then they all enjoyed the rest of their time in the cafe.
