Xyandar
Last night I was laying in bed and thinking of really cool names. Then I started thinking of what I would name my children(when i have some). For Boys I only came up with 1 unique name: Jyrn(pronounced Jern) Then I started thinking of Girls names and came up with 2 or 3: Faye(Thought of from Cowboy Bebop), Rayne(I have always liked that name), or Fynn(strange but might actually make a cool name). Has anyone thought of names that they would call their children when the time comes??? If you did what are they??
Semjaza
I expect a handful of people to post a bunch of bizarre names, mostly with Japanese roots. I hope people grow out of that phase by the time they have a kid. I know I wouldn't want to be named Shigeru and have parents with absolutely no Japanese ancestry heh. Think about your kids when you name them, you'd be turning them into a joke. They'll resent you, that's for sure. In any case, I don't even think about marriage let alone children. I've never really thought about names for kids that I prefer... but I doubt any would be out of the ordinary. In fact, I think I'd try and stick with a set of names that sounded decent when combined with my last name. Some just don't sound right together. Ryu_Sakura
If I adopted, note adopted (why increase the already over populated world right?) then I would name them odd names (not reallly ^^), like months that people don't usually name kids, or days, which are also not comonly used for names. but if I had to pick an odd name i would choose, Sesiana, I made it up all by myself, :dead: i got the idea from aperson in Dragon Knights's name, Cesia. hehe... Don't ask me why I'm weird, complement it! no really do! heheh, names are funny, my real name sounds like Aryll, but it has an e on the end, Kinda funny because WindWaker is my fav game. 0.o
Queen Asuka
I'm with you, Tony. I think it's hilarious when people talk about naming their kids after their favorite anime characters. I used to always say Kasumi and Sakura. *Smiles softly* Eh well, since I've grown out of that, I really HAVE picked out a bunch of names for my children. I already know that my first two daughters will be Arianna Rose and Chloe Brianna. And as for sons, Corbin James, Gavin Floyd, and Trent something-or-another. Yes, I am only 18, but it's nice to have these things picked out just in case, right? Who am I kidding? There is no just in case. I'm just a big loser. ^_^
ssj3borjan
People acutally are thinking of naming their kids after anime.... Could presents some problems........ imagine all the poor teachers trying in vain to pronounce the hardcore anime fan's kid's names! Certainly help them with their Japanese..... Anyway back to reality. I agree with some of you above, I'm only sixteen year old boy, I realise that, but I know that I want kids when I'm older. If I have a little baby girl, I would have like to have called her Jaida, no not because of Will Smiths wife, but because I think it is the perfect name for a girl! What's with the would have, you ask? Well, my cousin's daughter is already called that! Doh! (Though to tell you the truth that is where the idea comes from O.o) Anyway, for a boy? I don't know, but it's going to be cool, you can bet your bottom (insert local currency here) that it will be!!! Lol, speaking of cousins, my little cousin, she's from Malaysia, is called Hui Hui.... I think that's real cute too! (Prounced as if you are going to saw AWAY, but instead of the A sound at the beginning, it turns into a soft H, like in House, that's right just like that! Now just roll it all together! Perfect! lol, rolls off your tongue great doesn't it?) Here's a little pic of her.... she's pouting a little, but ain't she a cutie? the_fizz
Well, as some of you may know I have kids. With my first son I named him after my grandfather. This is kind of cool, because I really did not know him (he die when I was young), but I am told we where very close when he was alive. So, I thought it would be a great way to honor his memory. My second son (God rest his soul) was named after the only two people who support me thru that pregnancy. They are my two sisters Patricia and Nicolle, I converted them to guys names ~Patrick Nichalas. Yes, I know Nicolle and Nichalas are spell different, but that is the way my goofy dad spelled Nicolle and so I did some thing different to Nichalas. It just makes them stand out, but still be common. So the family name can be a good way to go if you are close to them. For a girls name, they were and still are harder for me to come up with. But, if I were ever do have a girl I might name her; Leta Rose, Leita Rose, or Lyta Rose: which kind of night(dark) rose or Loyal Rose, depending which language you speak. I just think it sounds pretty, nothing more to the why in it.
Gentle
I never really ever thought about it really. I'm not even a teen yet, actually. I think it crossed my mind once or twice but I don't remember. That just goes to show that I don't look into the future much because I've never thought about anything past the next week. Anyway, if I was to have a girl I might go around something close to Kemani or Dove. I like simple things and I'd rather not have teachers and others kids having trouble with my child's name like they do mine. And I didn't think of that just because I'm a fan of japanese names, although I might pick something simple like Sakura for a middle name. If I had a boy then just Dominique. I've always liked that name even though most people think it's something you would name your daughter instead. It's a male and female name. Even though the teachers still wouldn't be able to say that. Why does it seem like you can have the simplest name and adults still can't say them right half the time?
future girl
I really don't think I will ever have children, but the subject of names comes up a lot when I'm writing some sort of story. A few of my favorites are (for males) Killian, Ezequiel, and (for females) Noa, Evie, or Anahita. Not too odd, but they stand out nonetheless. Carr
I love the names November Reagen (girl) or Cole Jacob (boy). I'm not sure why, but I've had those picked out for a few years. I like that they are pretty original, but not too wierd. I had another girl's name picked out, but I can't remember it at the moment, must not've been that good. ^^
Heaven's Cloud
Well I am the fourth so if I have a son he'll be the fifth. That is a non-negotiable. Besides that I decided long ago to allow my wife to name whatever kids we have. I know that if it was left up to me my kids would have names like "Sky Blue" and "Moon Beam"...I have been imbibed with way to much Dead and Zappa Hippie culture.

Sara
Originally posted byTN Someone has a Y fetish....
*laughs* I had to quote that, sorry. Carr, it's funny that you should say November for a girls' name. I remember wanting to name people after months...September, November, and December were all likely candidates. I like the name Jael for a girl. It's a pretty (and yet, not too pretty name, and there's a chika in the Old Testament named Jael who killed someone with a tent peg. You have to admit that's kind of cool. Dunia is also a pretty name. I remember knowing at one point what it meant. Universe in Swahili, or something. The imagery is so awesome. *grins* If I do have children (unlike Miss Tori, I have no plans to :p ) I will not be making up impossible-to-spell names for them. Extra y's and odd letter combinations are not options. Just...no. I have enough problems with people spelling my name incorrectly, and it's an accepted variation. I would probably attempt to name my children after literature and/or historical figures. Desdemona, Othello, Juliet, Coolidge, Euclid, Zebulon, Wolfgang, Philomel, Atticus, (Johann) Sebastian, Ford, Amalthea, Morgaine, Melusine, Bronte, Dante, Zhivago, Crusoe, Machiavelli, Salinger.... ...Yes, I would actually name my son Machiavelli. It wouldn't be my frist choice, but I would do it. I should not be allowed to have children. *laughs* If I do, hopefully the father (at least) will be sane.
Minako
Whenever I have kids (Which I hope will be someday) I want to do the same thing my parents did to me. My parents knew that we would move away from my home country and go somewhere and they decided to name me Laura, because it's easy to say in a lot of languages. I know for a fact I'm going to move to Europe someday, and I want people to know how to say my kid(s) name(s) so I decided on Erik Kullervo (for a boy and the middle name is a family tradition) and Emma Leena (for a girl and her middle name is for my grandma). I'm probably going to change Emma because I already have a cousin named Emma, although I do have a cousin named Laura too.

We've both decided that the name Lincoln Earl will never be repeated in our family unless our son wants to name his son that. As for difinates: Our first daughter will be named: Abigail Kali Abigail is from Hebrew origin and means Father's joy and Kali will be from Hindu Culture from the Goddess of Creation, (among other things) But not everybody needs to know that. As for boys names we both like the name David, but haven't found a middle name we like and have considered using Lincoln. Some of my friends have children tho. My friend Leslie has two Girls Hailey Ray (Ray is for her grandfather who helped raise her) and Myla Renee. My friend Barb's twins are Cecil and Sequoia (Suki for short) And my best friend Becky, is going to name her daughter Alicia Rebbecca. Alot of us are glad she's not going to have a boy because her boyfriend was going to name him Cletus. Which would have been bad for everyone. So don't assume that only women have bad naming ideas. As for Japanese names, yes, I like Usagi, Michiru, Miaka and Kagome along with Aya and Aki, but be realistic. Unless you have some kind of vendetta against your Western looking child, don't do it. If you must name your child a Japanese sounding name try Ami, Rei, or even Kimi. When you get older you can always tell the child named Ami or Rei that it's a variation on the spelling. Still want to do it other lovely options are: Leilani-Calm as the heavens Relena-It's from an anime or Brock-Dubbed Pokemon!

I hope these people grow out of anime names. How awful that would be. I would call my kids... I don't know. Heh. It would be a decision with my wife. I like Ethan, Nathan, Matthew, Sara, Sarah, Chloe or Lauren. I would, of course, have to use different names regarding what gender my kids are. Manic Webb
If my future wife/baby-momma and I get into an argument over what to name our kids, I'll ask to make the same compromise that my parents made when they named me and my brother. That being: the father comes up with the son's first name, the mother comes up with the son's middle name; the mother comes up with the daughter's first name, the father comes up with the daughter's middle name. That said, I never give any thought into my potential kids' middle names. BOYS Xian: It's basically another spelling for "Christian." Just like how you can say X-Mas instead of Christmas or X-Tina instead of Christina. Only I wouldn't say "X-Ian." I'd pronounce the X like in "xylophone." Maybe call him "Chris" for short. Sean: What can I say? It's my middle name... sorta. Kenan: My dad has this thing about giving his kids names that start with "K." I think it's a pretty good one. GIRLS Kennedy: Continuing the trend of giving kids names that start with "K," I think Kennedy is a really nice girl's name. Actually, it's unisex, but I think it suits a girl better. Andromeda: I know what some of you are thinking, but girls can get away with weird and long names without getting beat up constantly. Besides, I recently found out that the character of Andromeda in Greek mythology was actually African. Ethiopian, to be exact. This means Andromeda (look up the story of Perseus) was an Nubian Princess. How freakishly Afro-Centric is that? Besides, I can call her Andee for short. NorykoAngelcry
I won't drag my post on too long. I eventually would like to have some kids (not as many as my parents - 6 - or as many as my mother's parents - 9 - but. . maybe 3? lol). The only problem I see with that is that I need a girl-friend/fiance/wife first . . and everyone knows that will be a while for me ^_^ On to the names, since I only have a few. . these are names that just sort of stuck out in my mind: Girls - Crystal, Constance (though, I don't like the idea of her being called Connie) . . ya Boys - Michael (my middle name, though I always enjoyed the name) Ya, I told you it was a short list. . lol. The Vampire: Ed
I'm going to name my son Stupid, and hope that he is, ironically, a genius. sunyippee
Hey.. sounds interesting! I never thought of that, um... let me see, your names seems an interesting thing to me, I know the last name is the family name, and what about the first name?sometimes there is a middle name? Is different names have their own meaning?(Am I stupid? Yea, it is the case ~_^) There is my name: The first Chinese character is my family name, the second shows my generation in my family, the last is the name in deed, and it means happy, my parents wish a happy life for me. In China, just some large family use "the second character", you may abandon it if you don't like. Of course, there're a lot of three-character names which the second and third characters all show the benisons.:babble: Okay, I'm gonna think my children's names... *jink*
