Anime SSJ levels

Okay ive got a question! I read on a dragonball z website that a sayin can only turn to a higher ssj level only if they have gone the level before. if this is tru how did vegeta go ssj4 without first turning ssj3? its a question thats troubled me for a while. Please help!!!:)

Vegeta was able to bypass ssj3 and go directly to ssj4 with the use of Bulma's pump-up ray.

If you want to get technical, the level of SSJ 4 can be reached if you have already turned SSJ 1, have a tail, and are at the proper power level. It really is a concentrated form of Oozaru. I think that Vegeta was able to turn SSJ 4 because [spoiler]he already had become a Golden Oozaru, the precurser to SSJ 4, while under Bebi's control.[/spoiler] Also, Bulma created a machine, the brute ray, which created the proper energy level to turn SSJ 4, even if you didn't have a tail.

Yeah thanks for the info the only reason i didnt know whas because where i live dbgt hasnt started yet well and i was saying that this website said that u couldent to be u had to be able to turn ssj3. i always thought that but its what the website said.... so go figure
