Artemis
Our school had a black out earlier today which lasted 2 hours. duorocks17 and I were stuck in the dark in our Physics room and started playing MASH. (If anyone doesn't know what it is, it's a game little girls play when they want to plan out their futures. ) Anyway, we used to have them all the time. We'd look forward to them b/c it meant getting out of schoolwork, and, hopefully, going home. Does anyone else's school have problems like ours? It wouldn't have been bad except that it happened only 45 minutes 'til the first lunch period. I guess we could do w/ this: What do you do when you're bored? We tried to play pictionary on the blackboard (in the dark), and raced across the room in dark (amazingly enough, we didn't run into each other...). We also worked on a manga we're writing together. It was great fun!
Kanariya
Aw, I want to be at your school. It's always sunny at my school. :( If I was in the situation you were in, I would probably sing random songs, such as Bingo, Take Me Out To The Ballgame, The Itsy Bitsy Spider....yeah. Oh, also 99 bottles of beer on the wall. I wouldn't stop either if someone told me to shut up, I'd just keep singing. Then I'd ask everyone to give me a high-five, even if I missed their hand and hit their head. O.o
Guest cloricus
No; we have a decent power system and responce times for power outs.
Boba Fett
During the first week of school this year, our school's transformer exploded. It's cut our school's power and caused a minor fire in the basement. We got released early that day, around 10:30. Our school policy is to release the student body should the school lose power. Can't argue with that. I spent my newly acquired time that day at home by myself, playing Star Wars Galaxies. Fun times....

A train had colided with a bus infront of our school, and it hit the powerline(there were no kids on the bus). We were forced to contenue classes as usual...:(
duorocks17
Heh it was great fun wasn't it! :) There's only so much you can do in those situations. I mean, our school is literary a prison. It has hardly any windows. The only windows it has is the doors leading out side, and the computer classes on the wing have windows. Other than that, heh, we use a lot of electricity. Our school used to run on a generator. This would always have something happen to it, which usually means letting us out. But we switched just this year to local power. Art, i heard there was a car accident on Central, and that's why the power went out. But still, just the fact of sitting around for two hours......yeah......
DeathBug
Well, I live in Florida, the lightning capital of the world. As you might imagine, during the summertime, there are several blackouts. Some are minor, but a few can last for a while. Fortunatly, the local utilities are skilled at dealing with them, and we're usually up and running again within ten minutes. And if it's longer, hey, I've got my GBA. ^__^
The_Ghost
I can't remember a time when our school power went out...how sad! I would love to sit in the dark. In fact, one day during study hall, a bunch of my friends and I went into the choir room and sat in the dark all period. (The room has no windows) Actually, we turned on the fans and it sounded like the ocean... :cross: Anyway, to escape boredom...I like the running around the room thing. We also like to try weaving over and under the desks like an obstacle course. Since none of us are very coordinated, it?s very interesting. Image sitting in the dark, hearing thud, scream, explicative, another explicative, and then "Ha, that hurt" for about twenty minutes. At least that's what happens in my school. If only I had your dilemma... *Also, Wasabi, you better be glad you don't go to my school. You sing like that in the dark, I'd have to shoot you. (Especially after 2 hours-I would go insane!) Well, I don't have a gun in school, so I'd just hit you over the head with my textbook. ;)
ChibiHorsewoman
My school was pretty old, but we never went without power. However, once we lost heat because the furnace or something exploded and since it was the middle of winter everyone was sent home which was pretty cool. My mom couldn't come pick me up (9th grade) so I walked home with a friend of mine to her house and we hung out there.
Artemis
At the beginning of the schoolyear, our air conditioning went out and, since Kansas summers are pretty hot, they let us out early. All the public schools were making fun of us for "being such babies", but they were all on the heat plan anyway. So they were having half days for the first week or two. Talk about babies, most of the high schools have air conditioning! It's the poor grade school kids who have to go without sometimes! duo, wow, I didn't know about the car wreck. Although I did hear that it was more than just our school. It's so funny how excited everyone gets when there's about to be a blackout. When it started flickering in 2nd hour, you'd hear cheers. Then when it came back on, you'd hear groans. I think they were breaking some sort of late or school code by making us stay more than 1 hour with the power out. Especially when the PA system was working, and they could have announced dismissal at any time.... Such are the powers that be at BCCHS.... ~art~
