Anyone watch Cheaper by the Dozen?

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone out there actually saw cheaper by the dozen. Its a really funny movie, and i bet there are going to be a lot of spoilers in this thread...:p..Well, It had a good plot, and especially good actors and actresses. I liked the kids...well..spoiler time.

[spoiler]Can you believe that in almost every single scene the Microphone they use can be shown on camera? i think its kinda cheap. Probably a low budget kinda thing where they can't really get enough film to refilm it...???

Oy, i liked the character of Mark. He was a really cool kid i guess, and being by yurself in a family of 12 is not really the easiest thing to do. Everyone else had someone to interact with, and all he had was Beans...*his frog*.

Hmm...The BF Of Nora, i'm not sure of his name, but the one who's obsessed with himself, is a jerk. Man, can you believe that he will totally diss Nora's family of 12 like that? I mean, come on, no one can be that self-centered.

I haven't gotten to see it yet, but I'd kinda like to. I heard that actually do portray large families in a positive light. (I'm from a family of 10, my mom was 1 of 8, and her mom: 1 of 12.) I think big families get too much grief from people...as though some kids will go unloved in a large family...:rolleyes: Don't get me started on that.
Another good movie is Yours, Mine, and Ours. It's a bit older (Lucille Ball playes the mother), but pretty good. It's sort of a Brady Bunch type but, if I remember correctly, it's based on a true story. A widow (Lucy) and a widower with eight and ten kids respectively meet and fall in love. They end up getting married and putting their two families together. She's an army nurse (ex-nurse, maybe?) whose first husband was in the military. He's a naval captain. By the end of the movie, they've had another kid between the two of them (thusly: yours, mine, and ours). It's really a good movie and quite funny. I'd definitely recommend it.

It was average. I wasn't that impressed overall. There were just too many little subplots thrown in so you could learn about the kids and most of them weren't even remotely resolved. There was this constant bad cut back to other characters, such as Mark, just so you knew what they were doing. The ones I found most interesting were of course the ones they ignored lol.

Even on a comedic level, I thought it was pretty hit or miss. There were so many corny jokes, especially at the start, that I was squirming around in my seat ready to leave. Luckily there were also points where it was one funny thing after another.

Strangely, I thought the funniest part was when [spoiler]that kid who thought he was ghetto screamed out "My latte!"[/spoiler] They really had that type of character down lol.

I guess what just got me the most was that there was really very little room in this movie for Steve Martin to do any of the comedy he is most suited for. It didn't seem like a Steve Martin movie.

I also never realized what a bad actress Hillary Duff is. Her scenes felt like she was reading from a script for a cartoon.

Let's start things off by saying this post will most likely contain some small hint of spoilers, so if you read past this line and get mad that the movie was spoiled, well just blame yourself.

Personally, I really hated this movie. I really like Steve Martin, but this movie had to be one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. Even the comedic aspects of the movie didn't help it for me. Also, I hardly seen one aspect of the movie depict families in a good light other than the beginning and end. That's it. All in between it was total chaos. Every kid, including the older ones who should know better, were complete and utterly unbearably. They're all selfish, greedy little cretins who did nothing but make matters worse. Then they all have the gull to blame the father when he obviously was doing his best to make their lives better, and even his ungrateful wife gets into it later. No one attempted to help make things easier on the father knowing he was alone, and had to deal with twelve kids and a job while his wife was off on some book tour. God, the whole movie just depressed me, and it further made me feel that ever wanting a family would be nothing but pure grief and pain. It was just terrible, and the sad thing is that this movie was almost exactly like real life, minus the fact that the women had twelve kids and still had a fit figure.

To be blunt the movie just made me feel disgusted with life in general knowing that this is indeed how most families are. Not to mention the father is forced to apologize for being the only good person in the movie.
