Guest rttocs77
Well in my opinion I think that if you are a democrat you might as well not vote in this election. It would just be so pointless. Pointless? What's pointless are posts like these, unless you give them a point. I thoroughly suggest you do. ~Drix
gumby
Due to Australian law I recently had to enrol to vote because as of Saturday the 24th of January I'm 18. I think when I vote later on this year I'll probally vote for who ever I think has the more intelligent policies. As I go to a public High School I don't think little Johnny Howard will get my vote although you don't really get to vote for the Prime Minister as whoever is the party leader with the majority of seats becomes the PM. terra
I think you should vote if you're informed, but you shouldn't vote if you're not. If you're completely uninterested in politics, have no opinions of your own, or are just voting because it's your "duty" or because someone else told you to, I don't see how that vote would benefit anybody, even yourself. Not that I think being in that state of mind is okay. I think that once you become the age to vote, you should be interested enough in the country you're living in to want to know what's going on, because it's going to affect your life, no matter how educated or uneducated, "super-Republican" or "super-Democrat" you are. But if you're not interested, and can't make yourself be so, then I don't think you should vote. It could invalidate the vote of someone who's actually well-informed and who actually cares. Maully
I agree with Terra, if you don't take on the responsiblilty to be interested, then don't bother. I vote in every election, even minor ones. I like to think of myself as poilitically minded, though I'm not as on top of the information as I would like to be at this point. I feel that voting is very important, but you should know what's going on and make and educated vote. I don't agree with voting stictly on party lines. You should familiarize yourself with candidates viesw and platforms and make and educated say in what's going on. I also see ChibiHorseWoman's point. I take advantage of the fact that I did vote to complane about the way things are going and feel justified in doing so. If you are going to complain, try and do something about it.
