The Legend Begins in the Kingdom of Krii

In the kingdom of Krii dwelled a great evil, a old breed of evil, a Viru, a spirit that dwells in the heart of all evil beings for it's own protection. This Viru's body, Rimnil it was called, lived in Mount Kivanri, and preyed off of the life of evil and maintained immortality unnoticed since the beginning of the world fifty-two million, one-hundred thousand, fifty-two years ago...

On that year, fifty-two million, one-hundred thousand, fifty-two years after the beginning of the world, a boy had reached the age of 15 and had finished his training to become a swordsman.
The boy's name was Riv, who would become known as Riv, the legendary swordsman of Krii.

One day, Riv was practing his technique in his room when he heard an explosion. He looked out his window to see what was happening and saw nothing. He ran outside to see if he could see anything there, he saw almost half the population of his town lying dead in front of him. He went to the wisemen of Krii and learned of Rimnil and what he was, and then he decided to set out on a quest to avenge the hundreds of people killed by the Viru.

Riv has now traveled for 2 days, he has defeated great evils with the sword Lemaria which the 4 wisemen gave him to defeat Rimnil. On this day he comes to an intersection on the road he is on and sees a boy about his age coming to the intersection also, he is much shorter than Riv but can tell that he must be his own age. Their eyes meet and Riv thought it good to be friendly to him and says, "Hello," the boy keeps staring at him, then says, "Hi, you are very tall, are you a warrior?" "I want to be some day," said riv, "I am on a quest though , would you like to join me?" the boy came up to him and shook his hand, "I am Kioto of the kingdom of Arrav, and would love to join your quest wherever you go," Riv smiled at that he was going to join him and said, "I am Riv, of Krii, I seek to kill the evil Viru named Rimnil who dwells in the mountain, it has killed half of the kingdom," then he added, "We'd better get going if we want to make it really far before sundown."

OOC: Wow, this sure is similar to the RPG "The Dark"! And my character was mentioned in that RPG! What a coincidence!

Celestia wandered about on a starry night through the hills, on her way to Krii. She looked up at the stars without looking ahead, but her intuition prevented her from bumping into anything. A while later, she just closed her eyes and looked straight ahead. "This is it, the castle..." she muttered as she opened her eyes and walked slowly towards the castle, in search of the king. On the way, she spotted Riv.

"Oh, there is Riv, the famous swordsman..." Celestia thought. Suddenly, Riv spotted her... "Hey, you're in my way, so..." he said hurriedly. There was a boy walking with him. "Hello there Riv," Celestia said, expressionless. "You want to stop Rimnil before it destroys the rest of the kingdom, am I right? May I ask you a favor?" Riv stood there, amazed that Celestia knew what his plans were. "Don't worry," Celestia reassured him, "mind reading is pretty much involuntary to me at this point..." "Mind reading, huh?" Riv wondered. "Well anyways, what favor do you want to ask?" "May I join your group?" Celestia asked, a brief smile appearing on her face. "Sure!" Riv replied cheerfully. "Yeah, you might be of great use to us," Kioto added. And with that, the three of them wandered off in search of Rimnil.

Kioto looked at the new kid. 'Where are you from," Kioto asked. Ki looked at the ground. "That I don't know," he said. Kioto looked strangely at him. "All I've done my entire life is search for where I was from. I've gone on many adventures before," Ki said. Riv and Celestia looked at Ki. "Well then. There's only one way to find out where you're from," Celestia said.
Ki smiled. "Thanks," Ki said. "So do you have any weapons," Riv questioned. Ki nodded. He drew a sword. "This is Chaos," he said. Kioto smiled. "Nice."

Riv pulled the new sword given to him by the wise men and displayed it in front of him. "This is Lemaria, the great sword of the ancients, just so you know what weapon I have."

Kioto stared at the sword. It seemed so magnificent. Celestia shook her head. "We should continue," she said. Ki nodded. "So where are we headed to," he said. "We're going to Mount Kivanri. There we will find Rimnli and kill him," Kioto said. "Well more like Riv will kill," Celestia said. Riv nodded. "Yes. But it will take alot of training. Rimnli is a Viru of old breed. He preys off the life of evil beings and thus' he maintains immortality," Riv explained to the newcomer. Ki nodded. "Riv. When you talked I felt you pain over soemthing. What is it," Ki asked.
Riv shook his head. "Rimnli destroyed my life. He destroyed half of my kingdom. It pains me to talk about his accomplishme- no his evil doings," Riv said. Kioto turned to Ki. "Let's keep going. No more questions," Kioto said. They continued. Mount Kivanri was still very far away.

OOC: Who's Lex?
IC:

The group walked towards Mount Kivanri, and all was going well, except that the group was getting fairly hungry. Suddenly, Celestia stopped, closing her eyes as if she was trying to listen to something. The rest of the group stopped as well. "What are you stopping for?" Riv asked her. "I sense something..." Celestia muttered and stood still for a minute. She finally said, "Danger is headed this way. It's not Rimnli, but is'a not good... This way. Follow me." "Wait," Riv interrupted. "This isn't the way to Mount Kivanri!" "Come on, this could be more important!" Ki shouted. "Come to think of it, I feel that something bad's going to happen as well..."

The group walked on, following Celestia. Suddenly, something rustled in a nearby tree. Celestia opened her eyes (she was walking with her eyes closed) and told the others, "Be alert, everyone. Riv, you especially." Riv stood still, his sword out and ready. Lex spotted something in a bush: it was a strange creature holding a wooden club. Kioto looked at Lex and pointed in another direction: there were more of those creatures there, probably about ten of them altogether. Suddenly, while Ki and Riv were unaware, the creatures with clubs attacked them. But Riv was too fast; he slashed his blade at two of the creatures, who instantly fell to the ground. Ki and Kioto did the same with their swords. Celestia used her powers to throw some of the creatures against trees, and she also hit some of them with their own clubs. She laughed with a "this is too easy" tone and watched the three swordsmen lash at the other creatures, deciding not to butt in. Soon, all of the creatures had fainted.

"Well that was easy," Kioto said with a sigh of relief. The group continued on, tired and hungry now... The day was almost over.

OCC: okay guys, there is no Lex in this story, Box just messed up and said Lex instead of Kioto because in another thread his character is called Lex. Edit Lex out and replace the name as Kioto. And Rimnil is spelled RIMNIL not RIMNLI

IC: "Rimnil sent these creatures with his influence on their evil thoughts, he is trying to protect himself. He knows what we are seeking to destroy," Riv said quietly after the barrage of barbarians had been defeated. "But why?" said Ki, "We weren't on the right path, we could be miles away from Kivanri now."
Reading Riv's thoughts, Celestia said, "It is because we are going to hurt him and he just wants the threat gone," Riv thought huh, oh thats right. Celestia has that mind power thingy. And in reply Celestia sent her thoughts to his head, she thought Yes I do. Riv then thought Oh then said, "We need to get going if we want to get in the remote vincinity of the forests of Divria by nightfall, we will be safer there and will be closer to the mountain.
With that said, the group gathered up their dropped belongings and left going northeast.

OOC: Sheesh. Don't get so mad for heaven's sake.
IC:

Riv and the others headed northeast to a place where there were almost no clearings in the trees, where there were numerous trees and bushes, where it was hard to see the mountain and very easy to get lost. "Good," Riv thought. "This is a perfect hiding place until we head towards the mountain tomorrow." "And we shouldn't get lost either," Celestia thought. "I'll help them along if they do." "I wonder..." Kioto thought, "how did Rimnil find out that we were coming? We don't need two mind readers here..." "I'm getting tired," Ki thought. "We should find a place to sleep soon."

Those thoughts lingered in the group's minds as they walked on, searching for the perfect place to hide. "Here," Celestia suddenly declared. "Nobody will find us here, I'm sure of it." She pointed to a spot behind a bush. But as Riv looked more closely, he saw that it was actually an opening to a small cave. "Hey, you're right. We can stay in here. You sure there's nothing in it?" "Positive," Celestia answered. The group then entered the little cavern, which was almost completely dark. But within a minute, Riv's sword lit up, helping the others to see better. Sure enough, the cave was empty. A perfect place to hide. Kioto closed up the entrance to the cave with grass, while Riv and Celestia made a small fire in the center of the cave. Everyone sat in a circle around it, enjoying its warmth on that cold night. They sat for a while, talking for a bit about Rimnil's plans...

"It's obvious that Rimnil knows about our plan," Riv declared.
"Yes," Ki said, "I can feel his anger already. He is furious."
"I personally hope he won't find us before we find him," Kioto muttered in a slightly worried tone. "But if we do meet, he's history."
"Defeating him will be hard," Celestia said, "because he has already set up an army of creatures already--vampires, goblins, evil gnomes... mutant animals, some armored... I have to think about this some more." Then she closed her eyes and saw Rimnil and his army of creatures...

OCC: Rimnil is in the mountain and no one will see him until they reach the mountain ok?

Celestia's vision of Rimnil and the army was split, a vision of a pure darkness (presumably Rimnil) and a vision of the army marching on towards them.
That night the group sat huddled around a small fire, "We need to start formulating a plan," said Riv after they had eaten and warmed themselves for a moment, "we are getting very close to the mountain and will be there by about sunset tomorrow and we have no idea of how we will get into it, any ideas?"

Kioto sat thinking whilet he others discussed the plan. Rimnil was going to attack. He could feel it. He felt the Rimnils anger. He was going to do something drastic...and soon. Kioto stood up. The others looked up. "Guys. I've got a plan," he said.
"Alright then," Riv said. "What is it." Kioto smiled. "Okay. I think instead of heading straight towards the mountain we should take an indirect approach," Kioto said. "Then when they expect us we'll attack Rimnil from the back. But let's save this for Riv," Kioto said nodding at Riv. "It's to easy. They'll get us for sure," Riv said. "Don't worry Riv. As long as we're together no one can stop us. Let's see two swordmen, you and me and empath, Ki. A black mage, Celestia. We're unstoppable," Kioto said. Riv shook his head.

Celestia thought about the plan for a moment, then said, "It will work, I know it. But we must take one thing into caution: There are creatures guarding the back of Rimnil's lair; we need to defeat them first, but that will be a piece of cake. All we have to do is lead them away from Rimnil and attack while Rimnil still thinks we're not there. And, we have to do this in the daytime, when Rimnil's dark powers will not be strengthened by the night."

Riv thought about Celestia's piece of the plan and nodded, thinking somehow that she could be right. He knew a little bit about Rimnil, and he suspected that he had guards around the mountain. Ki also agreed with the plan, but he knew the group would have to be careful; he felt that Rimnil's powers would be strengthened by hatred and anger, him being such an evil creature. Kioto shrugged, releived that Celestia agreed with his plan and didn't go against it. A swordsman's instincts, in this case, are almost as good as psychic powers.

"We should all get a good night's sleep, then," Riv suggested. Everyone nodded. Checking that everything was safe and clear, Kioto said "All clear!" and went to sleep with the others.

Kioto couldn't fall asleep. What if something where to mess up and one of them were to die. He stood up and walked out of the cave they were in. He looked around at the area. Such a buetiful place. He could see the large mountain to the west of them. He sat down. This would all die if he failed. Then something struck him. He had the choice to give up. Everyone did. He thoguht it over. Many people never took the fact that they could give up any time into consideration.
Kioto stood up and started walking into the forest. Glowing etenies of power flew around his body and around the forests other life beings. He watched them fly around. Outsid eof his mind there was peacefulness. But inside a war raged between two decisions. To take a risk and fight against Rimnil or to go against the others. The little glowing powers stopped. Kioto was shaking on the ground. Did he want buety and more. What did he want. The glowing powers started circiling Kioto. Suddenly they entered his head. He stood up. His eyes were glazed. He was not concious. Something had taken his mind and made a decision for him.
Kioto stood at the base of the cave. He took his sword out.

Riv woke up and walked outside to see the frightfull sight of Kioto, he was posessed, Rimnil had taken him. Riv thought to himself that he must bring him back to his senses before Rimnil gained full control of Kioto's body and would be lost to them. He knew how to handle ghosts so he thought he would try that technique on posession by other beings, he walked up to Kioto and said, "Hey Kioto, couldn't sleep either?," Kioto didn't answer, he then yelled at the top of his lungs, "Kioto!"
At that moment Kioto came back in posession of himself, "What?" Riv looked at Kioto as if he were stupid, which was quite possible, "You were being posessed by Rimnil is what! What I want to know is what evil thought entered your mind to allow him to enter you," Kioto looked straight at Riv, it was and yet wasn't Kioto, "He was thinking of leaving," an evil voice that came from Kioto said, "he is weary of this quest and does not wish to go on," the Rimnil/ Kioto being held it's sword in front of him in a stance that said fight me as clear as it could. Riv took out Lemaria and stood facing his enemy in an equal stance.

To these disruptions, Celestia woke up instantly. She looked at Rimnil and Kioto woth fury. She then took out the two arrows she kept and looked at them. "I haven't used these in a long time," she thought, "but they might come in use... still I wouldn't want to hurt them... I'll do it as a last resort."

Celestia used her telekinetic powers to separate Riv and Kioto. "OK, no fighting each other. Period. No exceptions. Kioto, try to control yourself! Rimnil, you'll pay for this!" But Kioto would not snap out of it. Celestia took out one of her arrows, rested its tip on her forehead, and chanted something under her breath. The arrow glowed and turned bright blue. She then used her powers to shoot the arrow at Kioto. A few seconds after the arrow hit Kioto in the head, Kioto began to calm down and come back to his senses. He then scratched his head and noticed the arrow... "Celestia! What did you do that for? And how come this arrow doesn't hurt?" he said, dumbfounded. "Don't worry, I put a special spell on it so that it wouldn't hurt you. I also transferred some of my mental energy to you, which should prevent you from being taken over by Rimnil." She then took the arrow out; it didn't even leave a scar. Then she walked back inside the cave and went to sleep. Riv and Kioto soon did the same.

 • 3 weeks later...
Rimnil sat in his mountain being very annoyed and very, VERY pissed off.
"I must get these beings away from me or killed but I can't do either," Rimnil shivered so violently that it made the whole mountain shake. Rimnil then calmed down, having just hade the most brilliant idea, "I'll send out all of my armies against them! They won't possibly be able to fend them off while trying to destroy him,"
Rimnil giggled, and that giggle turned into a gigantic laugh that eventually got too loud for Rimnil's ears and he had to stop.

Meanwhile, back at the cave...

The whole group was sleeping peacefully except for one member. Riv woke up after an hour of insomnia and was studying Lemaria and trying to figure out how to work it.

I've gotta figure out how to awaken this darn sword's powers! Riv thought, The wisemen said that I would be able to use Lemaria to it's full potential if I had balance within myself, and that when I did get it to work I would be the only one able to use it, and that when I died my son or heir would be the only person able to use it... BUT I CANT GET IT TO WORK SO THAT WAS A FRIGGIN WASTE!

Riv tried everything to get himself into balance, he balanced on a fallen tree in the deeper forest, he balanced upside down on his head, but he couldn't get Lemaria to work.

OCC: Riv will not be able to get Lemaria to work for awhile so don't say that he does!

Kioto looked at the mountain. Rimnil was close. He could feel it once again like he did before when he was possesed. Ki walked up behind Kioto. "Hey what's up," he said. Kioto whirled around. "What. What are you doing here," he asked? "We're getting ready to leave," Ki said.
Celestia looked at Kioto from behind a tree. "Hey. Where is Riv," she asked. "Off trying to harness the power of Lemaria," Kioto said. She nodded to herself. Ki stared at the mountain. "Rimnil eh'. I bet we could beat him," Ki said.
"No. Rimnil's powers are too strong even for me," Riv sadi walking up behind them. Celestia turned aroudn to face him. "Don't ever walk off and not tell us where you are going again," Celestia scolded. Riv rubbed the back of his head and smiled.
"Sorry," he said. Kioto laughed. "Alright guys," Kioto said. "Let's go,"

As the group was heading up the mountain, Celestia decided to talk to Riv. "I've been noticing," she said, "that you haven't gotten Lemaria to work yet. I also know you've been trying to keep balance withing yourself, but balance is not what you think it is. You don't need to have physical balance; you need to have balance within. That's my advice to you for the day."

Riv thought about what Celestia had just said. "Balance within myself?" he thought. "What does she mean? Could that have been what the wisemen were talking about?" "Yes, it is," Celestia told him telepathically. "Find balance in your personality, in your soul, in your mind..." Riv was confused, but he thought about it.

Meanwhile, a monkey hid in a nearby bush. Celestia ordered the group to stop as they neared the corner, still unseen by the monkey. "Hey, what's that for?" Kioto asked. "One of Rimnil's messengers is around the corner, spying on us. We must be careful and not let him see us. Once he does, he will tell Rimnil. He's behind that bush there. Let's attack!" The group nodded. Riv immediately crept among some small trees until he came to a bush. He took out Lemaria and stabbed at the bush, hoping to hit whatever was behind it. The monkey got startled and started to run away towards Rimnil. "Oh no you don't," Celestia warned, using her powers to stop the monkey in its tracks. The monkey froze and fell to the ground, unable to move or speak. "Now that that's over," Ki suggested, "let's get going!"

Rimnil was pacing around at the top of the mountain. Suddenly, one of his messengers appeared. "Rimnil, I have some bad news," he announced. "Riv and the others... I can't ind them anywhere. I just sent someone to find them, but he has not returned..." "WHAT?!" Rimnil exclaimed. "You need to do a better job! Now go find them!" He then said to himself, "Grrr... They must still be at the base of the mountain, but where is the question..."

Riv and the others walked in a tight group because of the rain and of the wilderness that surrounded the mountain. Riv walked with Lemaria held out in front of him, studying it. Finally he got it and Lemaria began to glow but faded just as it was getting bright. "Well, you're getting closer," said Celestia, "but you must find the secret yourself, you must get your balance perfect."
Suddenly a Leviathan came out of the wood, in a pouncing position.

Kioto drew his sword. "Is it a foe," Kioto asked? Riv nodded. "These woods are very dangerous. There are many dark creatures who live here. I'm not surprised to see one of these," Riv said.
Ki, Celestia, and Kioto watched as Riv stepped forward. He touched the monster and it fell to the ground. He had killed it.
"How the hell did you do that," Toshi asked. "This being is only as powerful as you make it," Riv said.

Later that day, the group was finally reaching the mountain when they heard, "You are not coming for me yet!" it was Rimnil, he sounded scared and angry, he knew he would be defeated. "Away!" he yelled from his pit inside the mountain.
Riv lay on a bed of sand, he got up and looked around, his white hair flailing wildly, "Where is everybody!" he yelled at the sky. He walked away from the lake he had woken up by, and walked for a while, until he met a griffin, its lion tail up and aggressive. Riv started to fight it and couldn't beat it, then he remembered to keep himself in balance. Riv closed his eyes and kept his anger at bay. Lemaria glowed, and turned white like his hair. Lemaria's light extended and Riv readied himself with a smile of satisfaction. Just as he was going to slash at the bird/beast, it said, "Riv don't hurt me!"
That was Celestia's voice! The griffin had eaten Celestia! "Celestia!" Riv yelled, "I'll get you out of there!" The griffin looked at him, "Get me out of where?" Celestia asked, "I am this bird thing."
Riv was confused.

Kioto stood there laughing. "How'd this happen," he said. Riv turned to him. "Watch your mouth Seramechi," he said. Kioto tried to hold in a laugh.
Riv sat down to try and figure this whole mess out. "What did you do," he asked? Celestia only looked at the ground. "I was doing nothing. But then I heard Rimnil's voice and I changed. Now this is what I am," she said. Riv got up on her back. "Well maybe we'll just leave you like this," he said. Kioto burst out laughing as well as Ki. "I'm sorry. I can't contain myself. This is so funny," Kioto said. Celestia walked up to him. "I'll show you funny," she said.

Celestia looked down at herself; she was quite pretty for a griffin and purple in color. She closed her eyes for a second, then opened them again, rising into the sky. "This is great!" she exclaimed. "With this disguise, Rimnil will never notice me! I have a plan." She then landed on the ground and whispered something into Rv's ear. "Ummmm... thanks!" Riv said. Celestia had congratulated him for regaining balance. "And are you sure this plan will work?" he asked. "Positive. I even know that Rimnil still thinks I'm human." She then spread her wings and flew up to the mountain, where Rimnil was waiting.

"Rimnil?" Celestia said, trying to make her voice sound low. "Oh, who are you?" Rimnil asked. "I guess someone has put a spell on you that made you forget who I am. I'm Paea, don't you remember?" "Ummmm..." Rimnil muttered. Celestia looked at him innoccently with her bright sapphire eyes. "You sent me on a mission to destroy Riv and the others."
"Oh, did I?"
"Yes. But I have some bad news."
"What?"
"Riv and the others have left the desert and have returned to the forest."
"WHAT?! Perfect. Just when I had a perfect plan for them they had to run away like chickens?"
"Yep. They're scaredy-cats." Celestia smiled at herself; she was thankful that Rimnil can't read minds or detect lies. "But if you want, master, I can lure them back here easily." Rimnil nodded, and Celestia flew off towards the forest, flew down out of Rimnil's sight, then turned back to the desert where the group was.

"So, how did it go?" Riv asked. "Great! I had Rimnil completely fooled! And he even thinks we're in the forest now!" Celestia sounded happy. As she looked to her right, she saw a bunch of creatures heading down the mountain toward the forest. Everyone laughed.

OCC: Nefertimon! We ARE in the desert, Rimnil PUT US THERE!

IC: Riv looked up wondering where Tr'shiel was, he walked around and searched for her. As Riv came around a large mound of sand and saw a pheonix, it was a dark colored little bird and resembled... "Tr'shiel!" exclaimed Riv at the sight of her, the pheonix looked at him, "Yes?" she said inquiringly. Riv walked up to it and leaned down to pat it's head, and almost instantly bumped into an invisible, soft and warm thing, Tr'shiel giggled, "Hey! I'm ticklish!"
"Wha?" asked Riv, he then answered himelf, It is an illusion! But how did Celestia gain flight? Oh, she must have already been able to do it. Might as well try to find out what caused these illusions. Riv hugged the invisible Tr'shiel and kissed the invisible lips, "Where did that come from?" asked Tr'shiel, "I thought I'd lost you," replied Riv a bit quietly, then he felt it, he was finally balanced thanks to Tr'shiel and his love for her, Riv looked into where he thought the invisible eyes of Tr'shiel might be and said louder after his pause for this realization, "I can do it! I can use my sword now!" he kissed her again and stepped away from her and took out Lemaria and willed it's power into being.
Instantly the blade glowed, it glowed more and more than it had the last time and kept going until it was a blinding light. Riv shielded his eyes and toned down the holy light, then Lemaria's blade of luminescence extended with his will and changed with his will and mirrored what he wanted it to be. Riv smiled and said, "We will be able to destroy him now!"
