final fantasy definitely has the best music. I mean Vice City has good music too, but final fantasy one and some others are great masterpieces. final fantasy has a great composer, nobuo uematsu I believe, and his music is wonderful. The music can get kind of boring after a while, but it's great and u can't deny that.

For some reason I can't stay away from the kingdom hearts intro music.I love that music! I forced myself to remember it the first day I got the game so I can sing it to myself over and over again lol.I am hooked on that music.I think it was sung by Utada Hikari or Hikari Utada I don't know which one is which lol. Also I would have to say I like Grand Theft Auto:Vice City's music also.

I've been playing Skies of Arcadia Legends on the GCN, and I think its music deserves a mention in here. At first I didn't think the sound track was that great, but as I played, it grew on me until I started getting songs stuck in my head, driving me crazy. At which point I was forced to get the OST, which I'm listening to right now, in fact.

For the first ten hours or so that I played, I didn't really notice the music as anything special. (I think it was the Kingdom of Ixa'taka track that finally enlightened me.) But when I really started listening to it, I realized the reason I hadn't noticed the music before was that it just seemed a natural part of the game. It fit in extremely well, adding to the overall atmosphere of the game. So while with most games, I think "Hey, that's a cool song" when I hear a good piece of music, because it stands out. But with Skies of Arcadia Legends, while music doesn't stand out so much, it does add a lot to the mood of the game.

And now that I listen to the OST by itself, I really realize how good the music is and how much I like it. As a whole, I'd say I actually like it more than most of the Final Fantasy sound tracks, and it's rivaling the FFIX, Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross OSTs. There's just a ton of songs on the Skies of Arcadia OST that I absolutely love, whereas with most sound tracks, I usually only have around five or so favorites that I listen to all the time.

Skies is that good? Hmm, I'm gonna have to look into it. I really love Chrono Cross, so if it comparable, that's good news.

I've been listening to Morrowind's music a bit more (as if playing the game for 250 hrs wasn't enough...), and the more I do the more impressive it sounds. Jeremy Soule really is one of the best VG composers out there. His Icewind Dale soundtrack was great, as was his KOTOR and NWN.

One guy who never got any credit was Michael Hoenig, the composer of the scores for Baldur's Gate I and II. Those are great, great soundtracks. Listen to them if you get the chance.

My favorite soundtracks actually come from games about music , the bemini series of games (ddr, stepmania, guitar freaks) the game supplies many of the musical genres and helped me discover rythm ^_^.

I agree with the zelda soundtrack. i personally dig the songs from OoT and the classic zelda theme still has a special place in my i pod. If any of you have heard this also please let me know, but did anyone happen to catch any articles of the mario and zelda big band concert. famed creator shigeru miyamoto was there as the guest of honor and they played the classic themes from the series with a new jazz or samba twist. i wonder if they would ever have one of these here stateside.

Well, Skies of Arcadia's music has a much different feel to it than Chrono Cross' does, so I wouldn't say the two soundtracks themselves are very comparable. But my liking of the two soundtracks is close, which is what I meant, in case you misunderstood my previous post. So I think SoA's music is excellent, but most of it's really not that similar to CC's except in the way of quality, though there are a couple tracks (like the title theme) that remind me somewhat of CC.
