I'm generally not fond of the practice of liberal piercings and tatoos, and not just because my friend's belly-button ring got infected two years ago. You're basically altering your body for fashion, or at least that's my take on it. It's the great difficult involved in reversing the action that makes me skeptical.

And, personally, tongue piercings revolt me. How can ya'll talk like that?

For the most part I believe that all tattoos are defilements of the skin. They are usually gotten when younger people make hasty decisions and don't think how they'll dislike their tattoos later in their life. I believe it is a very hard process to get them removed, too.

I have no problems with piercings, unless they are in extremely strange places. I'm fine with nose, ear, and eyebrow piercings. Some belly rings I'm like, but everything else is basically a turn-off.

I don't like either. My sister has two tattoos and a tongue piercing. She want's to be a teacher, and because of that butterfly on her ankle, she's not allowed to wear sandles. Not too bad, but still. They're just pointless, and do nothing but have other adults give you dirty looks once you get to the real world.

My sister mostly got the butterfly and and the tongue piercng to make mom mad. Since the other tattoo is in a place that is ALWAYS covered, she likes that one more. It shows a bit about her originality without screaming "Attention whore."

I personally like tattoos. It is all about placement and sibject matter though. My dad has no less than seven tattoos, and he got them all in the last ten years. Because they're on his back and upper arms he can easily hide them and doesn't get judged. It's the small, crappy tattoos that people regret. Getting a $20 tatto on your upper thigh in the general shape of a heart isn't really gonna look good when your older, but if you get something like my Dad's, a big back mural to Ned Kelly, it's something you can be proud. It's the rash tattoos that look bad.

As for piercings my motto is if its below the neckI hate it. Nipple rings and belly button rings are disgusting in my opinion, but I have no problem with eyebrows and nostrils (or ears for that matter).

Personally, I really don't like piercings, or tattoos. It seems that the piercings would get in the way too much. Like, you have to take them out while you do sports and then put them back in after you are finished playing.
Tattoos, I would get bored of too quickly. I would get sick of seeing the same image on my skin, day after day. So, if I am in the tattoo mood, I buy a temporary tattoo, and take it off after a couple of days. Yeah, I get bored of them that quick.

*nods* I hate all peircings exept on your ears, other places are kind gross. But tattoos would be cool, if they wern't painful to get, painful to remove and costly. I have one, (It's really small) on my my ankle, It says "I am me." I just got it a while ago, and it hurt ALOT! (I have no pain tolercance, I can take being stabbed in the arm, but I can't take a tattoo. ) But I would never show it to anyone, ever! Hehe, I don't know why I got, it, I guess to give myself self-esteem, because people are always saying, keep you head up. And to make matters worse my dad died a week ago. So, thats why. Oh, and almost all my female teachers have at least one tattoo, exept my science teacher, she is an old lady. >_> key: OLD. But she sometimes acts like she's 30, which scares me. 0.0

The way i see it, its your body you should be able to modify it and decorate it to your desire. The body is beautiful and all your doing is giving your statement to the world when you get piercings and tattoos. However with a tattoo or piercing there are a lot of consequences. So my opinion is its your body do what you want with it just be aware of what could go wrong with something. I mean i myslef have 12 piercings all in my ears just little studs and hoops nothing major. I have one tattoo below my bikini line where no one but me can see. it was a personal tattoo that i got for me becasue i wanted to leave my mark on my body so i put it there. Alos its very descreet so no one can judge me for it. i don't know there are a lot of different opinions on tattoos and piercings i say do wht ya want with your life because it is YOUR life ultimatly.

For piercings, I'm okay with ears, and maybe the belly button. Others start to get wierd...

For tattoos... I don't know, I think the huge murals are wierd. A small self-expression, like Ryu_Sakura's 'I am me' tattoo, are what I favor.

I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo (I'm a big wuss), but I like the idea of them. For piercings, I have both of my ears pierced and I've been wanting to get my lip pierced for about a year. I'm not sure if that will ever happen because, again, I'm a wuss. I have a fear of needles that I can't even get a shot without flipping out and needing to hold on to something.

Piercings don't bother me too much, as long as there just the normal everyday peircings you see. pretty much just stuff on the face doesnt bother me at all, but when you see the guys that have like all these piercings on their face, then have huge holes in their ears, its pretty much disgusting. As far as tattoos go, small ones don't bother me, as long as you don't go overboard by having more than a few. I'd get maybe something small on maybe my shoulder or ankle, but thats as far as I would go. And its pretty gross when you see the guys, and sometimes girls now, with tattoos pretty much on everyinch of their skin, not to meantion what could be under what they're wearing at the time. So yea its rather disgusting when people just go overboard w/all that ink.

I like tattoos and piercings. The kind of artistic expressions people make when their body is the canvas is interesting. However, I think that your fill of crap when you say you have all these piercings and tattoos. That, or your just really stupid. Anyone who gets a tatoo on a dare deserves to get stuck with whatever assanign thing is branded into their body.

I like piercings and tattoos, but unfortunately, I'm a huge baby when it comes to minor pain, and because of that, I'll probably never get the latter.

I got a tongue piercing but the pain was pretty intense to me so I'm not exactly super inclined to get anything more.

Son of a b--I should have thought of that one. I'd be like "Hey, check out my tattoo." then when the poor fool came to see I'd bite them in the forehead!

Heh, anyway I don't have any of either. But for some reason I like that idea you had for the bar code tattoo. Sounds cool to me for some reason. I should get one, then claim to be manufactured evil! Batteries not included!

I think that piercing and tattoos are a form of personal expression. If someone decides they want them that is their decision that they will have to deal with. Like many of you have said, you need to think of the future....will that Rei Ayanami tattoo be as wanted when you are 65 years old?

I personally have my ears pierced 2x on each ear and a tat of a single rose wrapped in barbed wire. I have had it for 10 years and have never regretted getting it.

What's that oft-used Internet expression eloquent enough to have been coined by an especially unmotivated twelve year old? Oh yes, I believe it's "Meh." Yeah, that?s the one that annoys the hell out of me. Regardless, if nowhere else, it's appropriate here. Rock on.

Although this is just your opinion, and I respect it enough not to blatantly dismiss it as a wrong viewpoint, your blurb is heading my post in bold for a reason. I think it's a really stunted perspective.

I'm sure there are foolish goobers out there who mutilate their bodies in a drunken stupor only to suffer the consequences down the line, but from my experiences alone, I can say that many of the young adults I know are very thoughtful in their decisions to get tattoos.

Based on that, I?d say it's very possible for someone to get a meaningful tattoo that's forever representative of their individuality. Tattoos can be artistic, classy (yes classy) and beautiful. Of course, they can be abused--just like most other forms of expression. That careless behavior doesn't detract from their appeal from where I stand.

Again, that's just my own opinion. I'm on the opposite side of the coin here, I suppose.

If I ever do get a tattoo, it'll probably be similar to the attached image.

Oh, before I start, first I want to comment; Charles, that is one cool tattoo.

Anyway, yeah, I do want to get a tattoo when I am older, and I am amazed you are 15 and have 33 piercings and 8 tattoos. One brave teen you are.

I think I've said before on the boards about that I want a belly button ring, but now I have changed my mind about it. O.o The holes in my ears are closing up as it is, and I don't mind at all. Ear peircings are fine with me, but I have changed my mind about the belly button ring. Only the ears.
About tattoos, yeah. I might get one of my name in Chinese characters down my neck in black. And maybe a white snow leopard cub would do on my arm. I love those animals. ^_~

So far as piercings go, it just really depends on where they're at. I don't like any on the face (eyebrows, labrae, nose lips, whereever else). Ears are fine, the bellybutton is okay, and tongue is okay sometimes. I like tattoos, but only if they can be hidden. I have an eagle with spread wings on my right arm, which is pretty big but easily hidden with a short sleeve shirt. I can't stand it when someone younger gets tattoos in places that are almost always in the open.

As long as it can be hidden, it's fine with me.

Personally, I don't really like either. Tattoos I dispise. Its as if your branding yourself. I can tolerate small ones I suppose, sometimes. I also find it stupid for someone to get one before graduating from high school. Your still young and you change as you get older; interests, style, etc. Piercings I can tolerate a bit more, but it depends. A few in the ears are alright, but I don't care for them anywhere else.

I only have one piercing in each ear, but I never wear earings anyway, I hate them.
