Well, eversince I got PSP 7, I gave 'banner making' a shot. I'm not very good. Seeing as how this is new to me, I've only made three, and they're all slip-shop jobs, too.

First off, I get the images off of AdvancedAnime.com. They're easy to find. Just incase anyone thought the pictures used were good.

Now, I've attached my very first banner.... ever. It's not very good, but eh.

Very nice. It is much better then my first (and second) banner attempt(s). I really like the sunburst in the corner, since it adds to the angelic look of the picture. Also, the border is definately a good thing on this style of banner, because the wings blend with the white background (I cannot believe I am supporting the use of a border).

The one thing I suggest, make the words on the left a bit bigger (maybe just one or two font sizes). They look crunched together because of the italic-like style.

Thanks for the tip guys. Well, I guess I'll post most of my banners here... if I make many more.

Well, this one was for a request made by jro13. For some reason, the picture wouldn't accept text. Maybe it was the program....

But, anyway, it's a picture of... o.O;; I don't know who?! It's not very good, and it's very plain and simple. I'd add effects and text if I could... *curses whatever force is preventing that from happening*

C&C?

Well ACTUALLY jro13, there IS a border. It's not very thick, seeing as how you hadn't noticed it, but it's there.

Well, I thought I'd show you a different banner. This one doesn't have a picture of an angel or cat girl or both. It's a really simple one.

C&C..?

Good for firsts of PSP7. I can't afford it...*sighs*

Anyway, my comments.
Orange Neko Banner: Very nice banner; the image is clear, and the font color you chose was good too. Though the text in the top left corner is a little blurred, and I don't think the black border really works for the banner. A dark blue maybe?
jro13's banner: Simple, but good. No problems, except it seems empty. Add some text in there to make make it spiffy. (jro13's user name as a suggestion)
Welcoming Spring Banner: Very cute and emotional. The pic is good and everything, but I suggest a very thin pink (light) border, and to make the font a little more clear.

that is a great banner,10/10 I found nothing wrong with except that it needs a border
Please expand when you comment on a banner. If you can't find anything wrong with it, say what parts she did well on. Just saying it's good and needs a border won't be accepted.

Okay now it is better, you could make it better. But it is alright as it is I guess
I implore, please read the constructive criticism thread at the top of this forum. It is very important that with each critique you go as far into detail about the banner as is possible. Say what you like, don't like, why you like or dislike it, what needs to be improved, etc. Comments like these just won't fly on OtakuBoards. ~_^

The first one you posted, was great and when you added the border, it was even better. That was much better than my first so I cant really say anything about it. The second one is too plain. You could use some text or even another picture to add in, but its not too bad. The third one I just didnt like. Now dont take this personally but the text color doesnt fit, the text is all blurry, and there is no border. I think you should have tried some more colors for the text and maybe even a different font would have been nice too. But since these are your first banners I would say your excellent for a beginner. A little practice and you'll be making awesome banners.

Thanks for the comments. I thought I'd post yet another one. This one I just did today. I was bored and thought I wouldn't add my name this time. Maybe someone else could use it.

Anyway, I get all these pictures from one particular site. It's AdvancedAnime.com. They've got really neat image galleries.

C&C?

Well, I'm a member on several forums. And on one, I'm making a banner for a contest. It's supposed to be simple. So... it's pretty much just like everyother one.

Actually, I need help on something. How do you add two pictures into one banner? I can't seem to figure it out!! If you could give me some tips, I'd appreciate it.

I don't usually use PSP 7 but I thought it would be as simple as cropping/selecting the pic in another window, copying it and pasting it.

Anywho, this is a nice banner. Far too big to use here, but good nonetheless. I would suggest a border though, as they nearly always 'complete' a picture.

Thanks. For some reason, it was smaller when I made it on PSP. But, I made a seperate one (seeing as how I couldn't use that one for the contest anyway).

It's got a border AND an effect. I thought it looked cool. C&C... yet again.

Is that image of Haruka and Mitsuki from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien? ^_^ I love that anime. Er to get on topic..

I like how you're experimenting with the different effects, but for this particular image, I'm not sure if I like what you used because the faces got all distorted and squished that it's really hard to see the beautiful image. It is a cool effect, but it's not visually appealing for this particular picture. Sometimes a picture looks much better if left alone.

The text is a little too small, and the color of the text doesn't flow so well with the rest of the picture, which makes it incredibly hard to read. The word "Days" is just completely lost in the blue of Mitsuki's hair while the rest of the sentence covers her mouth. I would suggest placing the text on the top left hand corner where there isn't much going on so that it would balance out the banner a bit more ^_^

I hope that helps ^_^

Thanks for the critique.

Man, I'm just shootin' these things out!! Why did I just say that? I have no idea. But I DO have another, repetative, average, beginner banner for you. Oh, how my fans love them!!

It's for yet another contest on a different forum. (Why do I do this to myself?)
