Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I heard alot about a new Ninja Turtles show on Fox since they changed there name from foxkids to foxbox. Many people saw they loved Ninja Turtles as a little kid and I was wondering how some of you think the new Ninja Turtles show stacks up to the old one most of us watched when we were little.

It's really good actually, much better than some of the other remakes that have come out. It keeps to the same plot (kill Shredder) and mostly the same characters. Lots of action and stuff, as well as an episode I remember from the original series remade. Its really worth watching, if only to see how fluid and nice the animation is.

I watched the new Ninja Turtles a few times when it first came out just to see what it was like compared to the old one I watched as a kid. I don't really like it all that much. It seems much cornier than the original animated series even though that was back when "cowabunga" was a cool thing to say. I don't like the new drawing drawing style either. The turtles don't even have pupils, but rather glowing white spots. Also, I think the voice actors are sub-par and just don't sound cool (heh) like the old turtles.

I played the new TMNT video game demo on my Mario Kart demo disc and it, too, was not comparable to the old games. I'd much rather play Manhattan Project than that monstrosity of a game, spouting the same catch-phrases over and over agian. "Slice and Dice. Slice and Dice. Slice and Dice." Ugh.

I think its an okay series better than the one they made a year ago when it was still foxkids they got real actors to play the Turtles in these suits I wonder where they filmed that t.v. show. I've been a Ninja Turtles fan since I was real little I had all the toys, games, clothes, shoes, and all three movies: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Secret of the Oze, and I cant remember the last one.

[color=indigo][font=century][size=1]I like the new TMNT, except for the awful theme song. Mostly, I'm glad that they're following the original comic book, which is something I've always been curious about.

Granted, it's not perfect; a lot of the episodes are "filler", and not very good filler. Sometimes potentially good episodes are placed in the middle of a larger storyline, and it feels like stalling.

The biggest complaint I have is a lot of storylines run a lot longer than they need to. The underground city story, Turtles in Space and the return to New York story could have been a lot shorter, and wouldn't have lost much.[/color][/font][/size]

I dont think the new one will EVER be better than the old ones we all remember. That may be because its what we grew up with, so we are attached to it in a way. I do not think the new show even compares because everything is different, its even a different kind of animation all together.

I think people may like the show alot, but I do not think that it will ever be considered :better: than the original.

Ah yes, Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles and that other show, Teenage Mutant [somthing] Sharks, Along with the first series of Power Rangers, were my favorite shows as a kid, I never did like purple dinos running around singing songs about love and friendship. I ahte the New Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Teenage Mutant ________ Sharks. I hate the newer ones, The origionals rule!

I actually like the new TMNT a tad better than the old one....it's a bit closer to the original Mirage Comics more than the old one. After all, Baxter wasn't a fly in the Mirage Comics, and April wasn't a reporter, and Krang and them never existed in the original comics (Not including the Archie ones, which they did exist in.)..... XD The animation is rather nice too.

Then again, I was into Sonic the Hedgehog and all those ABC Saturday Cartoon shows when I was a kid, not the CBS ones (TMNT originally came on CBS I believe.). I got my TMNTness from the Archie, Mirage, and Image Comics that you could see at this one old comic book museum in Northampton, MA (Also where Mirage Studios is!) called the Word and Pictures Museum long ago. Yah. Have a autographed TMNT #2 (Original Mirage series, first print) that I won from there. ^^

I think the new Ninja Turtle series is kind of ok. I mean, there's cool actions and all. Also, the graphics surely did make the show look better.

However, my brother and I have been HARDCORE fans of the original series. I just love the opening theme song; I'd sometimes sing it when I was young. The new theme song is...well..alright but not the same. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rock; and I still love them!! :D

The "closer to the original comic" argument loses steam, I think.

While this new cartoon may hold truer to the comic, that does not make it superior.

Take April, for example. In the 80s cartoon, she was an actual character. She had purpose, determination, and most importantly, she was dressed appropriately for the most part. Look at her now. Skimpy attire. Are we to praise and hold the new edition higher because the show has fallen victim to the male chauvinistic 13 year old marketshare? April's character in the new cartoon is very sexist...moreso than the original. I mean, seriously. Who in their right mind wears a [i]tube-top[/i] to a science lab? April is a lab assistant in the remake, correct? Yeah, that's just deplorable values.

Baxter...his character is very cliche now...even moreso than his 80s incarnation. He's turned into a typical run-of-the-mill scientist who creates killer robots. That's it. I much prefer his 80s presentation; a meek, tiny, and squirrelly inventor. It's just a better and more well-drawn character. Baxter's fly transformation was surely inspired by The Fly and it worked with the subject matter of the cartoon.

The Mousers certainly had a better design and aesthetic quality in the 80s. Now they've become the typical streamlined killing machines that we've seen for years now.

Krang was an excellent character. Just listening to him speak sent chills through me. His character is just a brain and yet has this awesome power of command. He controls legions. He did not detract from the show at all. If anything, he added to it. He still is one of the only TV villains I love to watch. He broke the mold. Think about it. They could have gone with the usual ultra-strength destroyer that levels skyscrapers with his breath. But they didn't. The ultimate force of the cartoon was a talking brain that needed a mech to be effective on his own. That's creativity. That's originality.

The new "style" is...eh. I mean, it's nothing spectacular. Cyber 6 did the look much better, but you know why Cyber 6 isn't on anymore? Because it didn't have the TMNT label slapped onto it, lol. Cyber 6 was a spectacular cartoon. It was well-written, the ideas were intelligent, the characters were well-developed, and most importantly, it had direction. It didn't feel hazy.

That's one of the problems I have with the new TMNT. It's unfocused.

The point about growing up on 80s TMNT is pretty accurate. Really, 80s Children had the best of everything entertainment.

We had the exceptional cartoons. TMNT, GI Joe, Transformers, Super Mario Bros. Super Show (tell me you don't love that show and I'll beat you, lol), ThunderCats...the list goes on for longer than I can remember.

I recently watched the first TMNT movie. It's excellent. Yes, it's a comic book movie, but it is oh so good. I honestly cannot think of anyone who doesn't smile all the way through it.

There are a few gems nowadays, but I believe entertainment--the cartoon industry, especially--is a lost art.

The really great and promising cartoons fail, and the majority of what succeeds is cliche-ridden blah.

Yeah, I think the whole "true to the comic" argument gets a tad stale, as well.

Really, it's like a movie based off a book or a comic or something - you know it will be loosely based off of it, but you also know that it won't be exactly the same. I think that's how people should view television series (especially cartoons) based off of comics and such.

Honestly, I thought the original TMNT series was quite fantastic. I could care less about whether it was "true to the comics;" it was an all-around good cartoon, to me, at least. Krang was a really original, and entertaining, villain and TMNT had one of the better sets of villains that I've seen in a cartoon.

And, yeah, the 80s rocked, cartoon-wise. Super Mario Bros. Super Show, especially - methinks I need to buy some DVDs :D
