W0lfw00d
Does anyone here listen to Senses Fail? They're an awesome band from Drive-Thru Records. They're punk, not really harcore, and their lyrics are dark - real dark - a lot of death and all. A few song names to get the point - "187," "Handguns and Second Chances," etc. But their sound is incredible. They have an EP out called "From the Depths of Dreams," and though it's only 8 songs, it's incredible. Thier first full-debut is coming out soon, so if you're into punk or wanna hear an awesome new band you should check them out.
Haruhara Haruko
I am a big Senses Fail fan. Everything they do is so original. Unlike most of the bands today that sound the same. My favorite song is Bloody Romance, I really like the guitar parts and the lyrics. I have the EP and I can't wait for the ablum.
Dan Rugh
I saw them at a bar near my university and they were awesome live. My roommate and I are going to see them again on February 27th in Pittsburgh. My favorite song of theirs is "Bite to Break Skin", but it's not on the EP. W0lfw00d
Yea "Bite to Break Skin" is another amazing song, but it's only on the Drive-Thru Records compilation, but it's worth buying to get that one song. And Dan Rugh, you like Rufio also? They're amazing! Most of the bands in your list I am a fan of. I see you like everything out of Drive-Thru Records, like me. Do you like The Starting Line or Blink? Blink is my fave, that's how I first got into the punk scene, even though they're not really punk.
Dan Rugh
I hate Blink 182. They are a pop band. And yes, I do like most of the Drive Thru bands except for Fenix TX, RX Bandits, Home Grown, and Steel Train. I do like The Starting Line, though. I saw them with Senses Fail, Allister, The Early November, and Home Grown. Rufio is one of my top favorites out of that whole list in my signature. I saw them live a few months ago and I'm actually wearing a Rufio shirt right now.
xxxGothChickxxx
i guess i like them....after all i did see them in concert..they're okay i had to check them out..ya know?
W0lfw00d
That's funny Dan, I know two of the guys from Steel Train, the bassist Evan Winiker and the guitarist Matt Goldman. I also know the lead singer for Armor For Sleep, Ben Jorgenson. All these guys went to my school in NJ. No lie. I was younger than them though, I was in 6th grade when they were in 10th, but my older brother was friends with them and I talked with them sometimes. They were nice guys. Throughout high school, them and another guy had a band called Random Task. They were really good too, I have their CDs. But when they went to college they broke up. Its cool though, they all have their own bands now. Except for the mysterious 4th member, his name was Jeremiah. He disappeared. But its cool that I knew them, though I doubt they remember me. BTW My name is Dan too. And is Senses Fail any good live? I haven't gotten the chance to see them yet, but I really want to.
Dan Rugh
Yeah they are really good live. Buddy screams a little more than he does in the recorded versions of the songs. At the place that we saw them, he climbed on the bars going across the ceiling and went out above the crowd like they were monkey bars. Then he proceeded to fall into the crowd and surf for a little. P.S. Don't double post. ;)
W0lfw00d
Thats awesome! I love when a band does something different like that. Did they play any other songs besides the ones on the album when you saw them? And I won't double post anymore, sorry Im new.
Dan Rugh
I really don't remember everything they played. I know for certain that they played Steven and The Ground Folds, but other than those... Let's just say I heard a lot of songs at that show from 5 different bands.
W0lfw00d
That's cool man. So I just got the new Early November CD and it is fantastic. Do you have it? If not, go and buy it now. It's really great. "Mountain Range In My Living Room" and "Baby Blue" are two amazing songs, and if you have the Drive-Thru Compilation CD with "Bite To Break Skin" on it, then you've probably already heard "Something That Produces Results," another awesome song. Dan Rugh
I have both of The Early November cds, but not the compilation cd. The Early November was really good live. They started out with "Ever So Sweet" and went straight into "Something That Produces Results" just like it does on the cd.
W0lfw00d
That's awesome. I really gotta start going to some shows, but recently I've been swamped with work so I can't :(. Hopefully during the summer I can catch some shows. BTW, do you like Good Charlotte? I hate them. How can you sing songs criticizing the rich and famous when YOU ARE the rich and famous? I dunno you tell me. They are the biggest sell-outs ever. I used to like them, but not anymore. What are your thoughts on them?
Dan Rugh
No, I do not like Good Charlotte, nor did I ever. I hated them way before every middle school kid saw them on TRL. I'd actually prefer to not talk about them at all. On a more talented note (heh), I have the chance to go to a Rise Against show in Pittsburgh the day after the Senses Fail show since I'm going to stay at my brother's dorm the whole weekend. I don't think I will go, though, because they are playing with Anti-Flag and it's supposed to be a political punk show. I'm not really into politics, I just like Rise Against. Edit: This is kinda strange with just 2 people posting. You ask me a question, I answer, you ask me another question... haha
W0lfw00d
Yea it is kinda strange, but whatever it's cool. So it's a political thing huh? I hate that. I read somewhere a while ago that NOFX and some other bands (yes that includes Good Charlotte) were gonna do a tour that was all anti-Bush, and it was to get people to vote for Democrats. I don't think bands should get involved with politics, it's not their scene. They should just stick to music, it's what they're good at. I don't believe most punk bands know anything about politics, so they should just keep their mouths shut about their political views and try not to impose their ideas on their fans. But Rise Against, I don't think I've heard much of their stuff, I gotta check them out.
Dan Rugh
Uh... just because someone is a musician doesn't mean that they are not informed or able to have an opinion on political issues. It's more so the crowd people that are going to be there than the bands. Back on the original topic, if you go to the Senses Fail web site you can download an mp3 of their new song "Buried a Lie". It sounds a little different from their other stuff actually. A little lighter maybe? If you didn't know, the full-length album is coming out at the end of spring, titled "Let it Enfold You". Guest xbloodfightx
Eh..I don't like them, they are like Story Of The Year. Really crappy Post-Hardcore. They try so hard, but they can't pull it off. I've heard the entire EP. Not too impressed. It annoys me how they are trying to get screaming into mainstream stuff. Actually, it's REALLY annoying. Dan Rugh
I actually think your elitist attitude about music is REALLY annoying. I noticed that in another thread you were trying to put down people over what music they like. Get over it.
Guest xbloodfightx
Originally posted by Dan Rugh I actually think your elitist attitude about music is REALLY annoying. I noticed that in another thread you were trying to put down people over what music they like. Get over it.
My elitest attitude? Some genre's just shouldn't be mixed. My opinion is as valid as any others, I gave my reason WHY I didn't like them. I didn't just simply say, they suck. I explained WHY, if you can't take constructive criticism then shut up. Because I can dislike whatever I want. It isn't elitest, know what the heck you are talking about. I'm sorry that I don't like crappy music. It just isn't me. Tough love, suck it up. I wasn't trying to put them down, if you actually read the thread [you twit] you'd realize that I was simply saying that the music wasn't the genre that they thought. It annoys me how so many people are misinformed about music. You idiot, trying to seem like you are the tough guy here, trying to settle something that isn't ANY of your business. Great, now you've made a fool of yourself, nice job buddy. I laugh at you in your sleep. So overall, you've made yourself a fool, how does it feel? I hope it feels pretty crappy because you've tried to prove a point that you don't even understand. Don't try to beat the king when you can't get past the pawns. W0lfw00d
Yea Dan I just downloaded "Buried A Lie." It is very different but it's still great stuff. I can't stop listening to it. I got the lyrics for it they're awesome too. If the new CD is all like this, it'd be great but I hope they still have a good amount of songs in the same style as their EP and "Bite To Break Skin."
