justAfan
I don't really want to get into a debate over whether you think it's good or bad. I just want to see if anyone else thinks that Ashton Kutcher showed that he iscapable of acting and in roles besides the doofus he played in Dude, Where's My Car? NorykoAngelcry
Personally, I want to see this movie. One - It looks to be a pretty good story line, and a bit darker of a story too. Two - I am really looking forward to seeing if Ashton is any good at playing a serious actor. Anyone can see that his 'goofy' characters work. No doubt about that. I love 'That 70's Show' and remember some antics from "My Boss' Daughter' and the one where he marries Brittany Murphy (curses I can't think of the name). . but like Jim Carrey, I was more then thrilled to see him in 'The Majestic', and am in turn, looking forward to seeing what Ashton Kutcher can do in 'The Butterfly Effect' Just my thoughts really~
justAfan
I was glad to see him pull this role off. I know he doesn't hold much credit as an actor other than being hot. I've always thought he would prove himself a real actor someday, and with this movie, he's done just that. And he only has a beard in a short part of the movie. Epitome
I havent seen the movie yet but my brother has seen it and he said that it was a great movie and that I should see it ASAP... I was also looking up on it just to find the plot of the story and I heard that he wrote, produced and even acted the movie. So I think that he would be a great movie before the movie even came out. And just for the record, dont make fun of Dude, Wheres My Car?, I loved that movie. I couldnt stop laughing while watching it.

My Boss' Daughter and Just Married. Poor Ashton. This movie - TBE - redeemed him.
NorykoAngelcry
*shudders* . . . Why would anyone want to watch Dude, Where's My Car? . . that was a pathetic movie. . I love comedies. . but that classifies as 'couple good parts' label . . and most of those were shown in the previews. . I hate movies like that -_-
Sir Kyle
I think ole' Ashton Kutcher did a great job acting in the Butterfly Effect. To me, it really seemed that he knew what he was doing and is quite capable of being a serious actor just as much as a goofy, comedic one. Comedy, though, will probably always be his main bag seeing as it's where he's most comfortable working. Sure, he can put out a nice drama or thriller once in a while, but just being weird and funny comes naturally to the man. Gotta give him props for proving a lot of people wrong. Guess everyone got Punk'd, huh? (Yes, I'm stupid, thanks for noticing)
Pagan
I didn't like Ashton in the movie because I couldn't stop laughing at him. He wasn't even doing anything funny but I've associated him with comedy. I just couldn't watch the movie because I kept seeing That 70's Show spliced with Punk'd in my head. I can't see Ashton in anything other thing other then those two shows. The rest of the cast were excellent to me though and were good choices especially Ethan Suplee. The movie's plot is awesome though kinda hard to understand I had to tell the girl who I was with the entire movie for the most part. Evan Treborn(Ashton) is an interesting character and I'm fascinated by him.
Charles
I really liked Butterfly Effect. Most people seem to dismiss this movie's positive attributes because of their silly preconceptions surrounding Kutcher. wouldn't say that Kutcher was laughable in the part. His performance wasn't Oscar worthy, but at the same time it didn't completely ruin the film either, as others would suggest. I can't speak for anyone else, but I walked out of the theater satisfied. This film isn't on the same psychological level as, say, Donnie Darko (which it tries to imitate to an extent). Regardless, the script is utterly fantastic. The idea behind it isn't exactly original or delivered clearly, but I loved the characters. The cause and effect relationship applied them was interesting to say the least. This won't be the best film you see in 2004. It may not even be close. At the same time, it won't be on the other end of the spectrum either.

It's so freaking random and strange that I can't help but fall in love with it. Aliens, cults, girls... what else can you want? Plus the dialogue is so ridiculous. You can tell that whoever wrote it knew just how stupid it sounded. Bonus points in my book. That and Zoolander are two of the most underrated stupid comedies in recent years. Anyway, this movie looks decent, but I'm not going to pay $9.25 to see it. I'll wait until its inevitable DVD release and rent it when I'm bored. Xyandar
I have watched all of the trailers and I personally Can't believe that Ashton Kutcher can actually be in a Serious movie like this! i haven't seen it yet and am reallylooking forward to seeing it, but not because of him. All the girls I know went to see him lol.... I'm going because this movie looks VERY interesting. I will probably see it on 2 Dollar Tuesday!(our theatre is cheap:P)
justAfan
I watched this again today and I was still just as impressed by Kutcher's performance as I was the first time. Like was said up there^^^, it's not an oscar performance, but neither is it the crappy performance most of the world seems to expect.
eleanor
Contrary to popular belief, I was laughing my head off like an idiot when I watched Dude, Where's My Car at my friend's house. It was in truth really dumb, but I think I was already giddy at the point and not paying attention half the time. *shrugs* When I watched the preview for The Butterfly Effect at the movie theatres [Go RoTK!], I thought the idea was cool and original for a movie at the beginning, and then saw it as just one of those 'If you go back in time, anything can disrupt everything and just accept the present' morals. So I came up with the idea: Good idea, yet badly made movie. I'm not planning on seeing it, but I will plan on hearing shrieks of delight from Ashton Kutcher fangirls [AKA my friends]. Takun
when i saw the commercial for the butterfly effect i just couldn't believe that ashton would be in a movie like that. I really want to see it but I'd have to be older, i'm only 14. A thing that puzzles me is why he's been in so many movies lately, like this one and "cheaper by the doezen", "just married", "dude, wheres my car" and a bunch others. I still can't believe he's in a movie like this! it sort of bothers me in a way, makes me want to see the movie even more..
Guest xbloodfightx
This movie was so good. It just proves that Ashton isn't just a comic. He can be serious too, I'm going to buy the DVD I liked this movie so much. Just the whole storyline and how everything fit into place was the best part of it. Shwa
Indeed, i just saw that movie yesterday and my friends and I thought he should win an award for his performance. I have to say the Butterfly Effect is once of two good movies i've seen this month, the other was Big fish. This movie really made you think a lot, i like movies that do that to you. When you think something was gonna happen one way, it happens the other...really good storyline and plot twists. Ashton was very smart when he wen into the different places the change the past, specially in the jail scene! ~Great movie ever!
Petra
i saw it. it is a great movie but ashton kutcher can't play a serious roll. he didn't ruin the movie or anything but someone else might have made it better. ashton is great at acting a comical caracter but in a serious roll he made some scenes slightly comical when they shouldn't have been.
